I never seem to see you anymore, Kel. Or should I say, #26.
-
I still challenge you to post at the frequency I did on February 4, 2007.
Why would you SAY something like that? I remember the days following your registration, Iffy. They were dark ones.

Incidentally, I haven't really looked into the Spiderweb blog scene. Is it worth it?

6561 is 3^8. 6016 is the age of the Earth according to Ussher.

Someone help me come up with a good pun based off of this and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)".
-
Or G2, if you're so inclined.)
Blasphemy.

I'm with Iffy on G3. I'm also going to go the extra mile and suggest you play them by release date, alternating between Avernum and Geneforge.
Really, though, he only asked for a starting point. Besides, Exile and the original Avernums aren't an option, as they're not on Steam.
-
This board is split on which series is better because Geneforge and Avernum require different playing styles.
While this is accurate, I think that SoT's point about the Geneforge series being complete is key. If you start with G1, you're looking at five games (four of which are truly top notch) with progressively refined interfaces.
However, if you'd like a one-off game with a great interface and open world, Avernum: Escape from the Pit is an excellent choice. My only fear is that it will spoil you on earlier, less polished games.

I'm a big fan of one dollar coins. It's the nerd in me. I would also be a lot more comfortable trading something with actual, rather than representative, value, but I understand that's a lot to ask for.
The bigger issue at the moment is how SoT can reach 6,000 posts without a milestone thread, like it's no big deal.

Isn't our dollar worth more? . . . . . . . Yes it is.
Great Scott, you're right! The rate went from about 90¢ the last time I visited, to $1.01 now!
I should send in my citizenship documentation and move right away.
But wait... the Aussie's made it to $1.05! If only I had citizenship there, also.
(Edit: I don't want to hear about the Euro, Aran.)

For those of you stateside, that's $39.99. I'll let Dinti figure it out in Canuck.

Do they have to be about the community, or could they be game related?

I KNEW there was something special about Dec 8. I need to get back on top of the Birthday Thread. New Year's resolution.
Anyway, Trenton, I suspect you can find it somewhere online. Ask Tyran where he found it.

You lost it in a poker game several years ago. It eventually made its way into my hands, and I sold it to the fluffy turtles at a loss.

This seems like a good time to necro this thread. Now, instead of asking, I can contribute to the list of how YOU TOO can be involved in the extended Spidweb community. Since CalRef and Facebook have been heavily pitched, here are a few other places with Spidweb/Refuge subgroups:
Kingdom of Loathing
last.fm
NationStates
BOINC
Steam
We also run chess tournaments, games of Diplomacy, and of course AIMhack.
Anything I'm missing? Anything you think we should add?
-
I think I added you, Randomizer, but just as a generic mod. I didn't intend to force you into participating, though I'm glad you have.

1. Where is the bus now in relation to the SW forum? (close by or far away?)
2. When is the bus now in relation to the SW forum? (in the past, future, or same time?)
The bus is in the middle of an RP, which the occupants are unwittingly producing from leftover RP energy. It might still be standing right next to the forum, but it's impossible to tell and impossible to leave as long as the energy remains, even with a psychic monster.
3. Are all currently active participants now at the bus from Trinit Eye's bringing them over? (Trinit Eye could have brought over some rubble for Randomizer to keep rummaging through if the bus is far.)
Yes.
4. What is the blue dot? Or if it is still an unknown, what is the blue dot definitely NOT? (i.e. Not a demon or not the TARDIS or not a ball or wild RP energy.... or not a continuing part of the RP because it is too confusing?)
The blue dot is a RP energy made manifest by the bus's community spirit drive, and is interacting with the bus in unpredictable ways.

Oh! Cool! Then yes, that's most of what I was going for. The key element would be getting a group together that were specifically interested in campaigns that didn't require an extended time commitment. You would create a character, and take them out on whichever mini-adventures fit your schedule and inclination (ditto for DMing). They could be spur of the moment or planned well in advance. Any overarching themes or subplots would emerge due to the collective consciousness You could certainly use Mote, or create a new setting for the purpose.
-
okay i'm with you. that doesn't seem very different from what we're already doing with Mote though
Mote? I hadn't heard of that. How many people do you have involved?

I'd call it underhanded and manipulative, but since I cooperated with it, I have no room to complain.
