  1. 1, while 2 was more fun the first time 'round, and more challenging, the third and fourth times through, DMII seemed to have almost no plot. Sideplots, yes, but no real plot other than "Kill the big evil thing" and then the ending really bothered me! I was angry for weeks at that ending! DM, on the otherhand, actually made me think several times, and caused me to scratch my head a few times. Plus, I gain great satisfaction from completing DM with a 1pc party. You simply cannot do that in DMII
  2. I knew somthing sounded wrong there. Anyways, hope that helps.
  3. my personal favorite approach is, indeed, a little more 'loyal' in my mind than any approach the game gives. I kill everyone, and don't join any faction, then I destroy the forge without using it. And I do all this without ever touching the leadership skill. Using the forge just gives a better ending, IMO, since by then you can PWN anyone left anyways.
  4. far sight helps enormously here! you got trapped by going in too far, look for secret passages and portals.
  5. Quote: Originally written by Thuryl: Quote: Originally written by TakenName: teh lady who was 'studying' Motrax I really hope you are not trying to imply anything unsavoury with those quotation marks. No, simply that she was not studying him, but learning from, rather.
  6. my personal favorite is (i forget name) teh lady who was 'studying' Motrax, but then moves to Fort Emergence for an appearance in E3. On Erika, while I have not played E1 except for the demo, I feel she is rather pointless, except as a deus ex machina, and has no real personality other than 'kill empire'.
  7. true dat, its called tatterdemalion! or any other one of our growing collection. kind of sad though, that Jeff has abandoned his greatest achievment to the dust and us.
  8. any hope that after A4 comes out, Jeff will copy it over to Exile? OR will we have to go through the tedious process fo making it a BOE scen? Personally hoping Jeff brings the new game back to the holy land of Exile.
  9. Actualy, tucker reports back as soon as you find him. And why don't the first parties corpses have anything worth while on them? Of course, we all know why they were unsucsessful and we(teh second party) win, we stick together and join the ANAMA, then turn around and slaughter them all! Followed up by training soly in magic except for one idiot who sticks with prietly magic. Wow, I have an unhealthy habit going here, i think.
  10. you could always simply COUNT from where you are centered.
  11. hmm, my game must be bugged ro something, i have a 99 hp/magic/essence cap. And I have 25 points in intelligence. Without that cap, my agents could be simple spell slingers. *goes to reinstal GF. YAY!*
  12. The ultimate challenge- a celt solo with no positive traits, and all negative traits! I STILL CAN'T DO IT! I think the only ways NG2 could work would be to take a different sceneario with teh same plot, maybe Aztecs vs Spanards, or to play teh fairies plight on the other side fo the gate, or(finallly) to take something like Ravens people and their loss of their gods and magic from the world.
  13. My only problem with puming all my points into magic is teh rare occasion I actually DO run out of essence. Considering the 99 max, that occurs mroe than you think it would, and essence pods are expensive. ALthough, you are right about never lettign enemy attack, I just see guardians as mroe of a tank, shapers as micromanagers/generals, and agents as teh speedemons with swords.
  14. wait, did you just try to argue with me by paraphrasing what I said? At teh begining, ranged creations, at end, creations useless, yup! I tend to keep my artilla around just because its fun to kill the bigwigs with acid from a level 1 creation.(skill level, not exp level) Also, if ever your in teh mood for a good laugh, use pyromroamers as meatshields! Now THATS micromanaging suicide!
  15. Roaches, the only plague that actually forced me to think beyond "There has to be a secret door".
  16. wow, Im reviving a dead post here, but... For a solo celt, all you really need is very high defense and 3/5-2/3 your defense in berserker, along with a few points in healing circle for that nice healing spell. Keep this up, and nothing can touch you, while you kill everything in one hit.
  17. you are looking for creature called "cresent thad" or something like that. It wanders between two areas in the wasteland, I forget which. When you find it, it will run away from you(not a special encounter or anything, it just runs away). When it dies, it will drop a 'stone cresent' which you use to unlock it. Or are you talking about the shaper crypt on the southeast edge of the island? If so, you are looking for a necklace found in that area, in the only building you can get in so far.
  18. teh difficulty in Agents is they relly so heavily on their magic and essence for combat, and have only mediocre ranged combat skills with little to no melee combat skills (the way most people build them)that they end up trying to fight from the distacne a Shaper would, without the creations between them and the monsters. How I believe an agent SHOULD be played is as follows- split your skills you will use for combat almost evenly between physical and magic, put NOTIING into ranged weapons, your magic suffices for that. Go toe-to-toe with your opponents, blessing/hasting yourself(and maybe the one Ornk you made for fun). If fighting a number of monsters, still do this, but use magic to charm/scare some away, kill the weaker/ranged combatants, and whittle away at the strongest ones while using their minions as meatshields(as long as the weaker ones are still alive) Also, try to lure out enemies in the smallest groups you can by casting a few spells on them from a distance. Spells are not your main weapon, they are your backup, your armor, and your last resort. Combat spells should be used fairly sparingly, and then only against ranged enemies and/or large groups. Agents with low Hp are fine, they have Heal, Agents with no essence are dead. When you run out of essence, it normaly means you have gone into an area too strong for you to fight in melee, and now have no way to keep that cryodryak from biting your head off.
  19. I have used Croikles, and, in fact, edited it myself for my own uses, and have not found it to damage the game in any way. I have never used Zeviz', and can't tell you. Croikles is wonderfull though, user-friendly, newbie-friendly, and includes instructions for removing it, though I have no idea why you would ever want to.
  20. hmm, been a while since i've played, but i believe it was just gold. I may be wrong.
  21. Hmm? How is it that you can't keep your creations close enough to you, or far enough behind that they end up dieing? Anyways, your creations WILL end up as meatshields somewhere around level 25-30, but then again, that is their main function, even for shapers at endgame(genralization, the cryodryaks and battle betas can fight there, but thats about it.) Sorry, i didn't notice yoru second question there tomster. By far the most vital stats for a Guardian are strength and dexterity, with melee weapons up to 10 a necessity, and quick action and anatomy falling in to tie for fourth, but at endgame, they overtake the dieing need for more melee skill. put about five points into missile at your convienance, and carry five to ten javelins for those times when you need to deal damage from a distance. But then again, thats what your fyora and artilla are for. Also, altough this stategy falls under the agents realm, try to lure out enemies one at a time, and you can effectivly eliminate your need for healing spells/spores/pods. Keep a few around, though. Also, you should never need to use a battle creation for actual battle, you yourself will always be superior to anything you can create for that purpose, unless you are going for a 'fake class' game, when you will already have mapped out your skill choices (at least partially) anyway, so.
  22. You only have to kill one. My personal favorite strategy is to place fire barriers lining the wall of the hall, anti-magic fields coupled with a few guardians, SLOWLY lure out the avians using weak summoned monsters, then when its only the lords and maybe two others, wait out your antimagic fields, and charge in. Then again, this uses massive amounts of MP. Also, jsut reitereating Turumby's comment, you only need to kill one lord, the others fly away instantly, along with most (I think i coutned it at 4/5) of the other avains in the castle(assuming you haven't already killed them) Charm is a great spell for this fight as well.
  23. welcome geepers. (for those who are wondering, i was fatcat a long time ago, and have returned to the holy land) The next step after beating full game, is to beat full game solo-celt-fighter, then solo-roman-mage.
  24. Thank you! Its in laymens! *Quickly adds page to favorites*
  25. oookay. And now where do I find these nodes? I'm used to BoEs editor, if that helps at all.
