Point me in the right direction of a (C++ i'm assuming?) compiler, and I can build it for you.

MM brought up something I should have clarified. The .exes are always corrupted. The files themselves, however, are not. What I need are the folders of the games in .zip format. What I cannot use is the .exe in .zip packages.
UPDATE: A1, A2, and A3 are now taken care of. Only G1, G2, and G3 remain.
-
Yes, please do.
Some things you must understand first:
1. You need to be on a windows operating system.
2. You must send them in .zip format, it is the only format I have been able to use without file corruption so far.
If you meet both those requirements, send them to Emigliah@hotmail.com
Thanks...

Works fine for me. You should try it again, and if it doesn't work, then it's probably something wrong with your browser.

In my experience, I have always found this to be a bad idea. I once had to search half of G2 in order to find a stupid flawless crystal that I had dropped with a bunch of other crap.Quote:Originally written by Zeviz:

The easiest method that I can think of right off the bat, is to open any graphic editing program, and zoom in. You can see them pretty easily this way.
-
Yes, that is where the file corruption comes into play.

Okay, here is what is happening. I am (unfortunetaly) switching from a Mac to a PC, the problem is that the PC does not have internet connection. I have been using an external drive to transfer the downloaded .exe of all of my favorite games, the problem is that the last 2 files are always corrupted. The only one I have been able to get is BOA. This is only because the last two files of installation are read-mes. However, when I transfer the actual files, nothing gets corrupted. What I need is for someone to PLEASE send me A1, A2, A3, G1, G2, and G3, as .zip files. I have the capacity to hold it, so long as someone has the server capacity to send it. Please help.
and no, I don't have enough money to buy anything that would allow me to transfer these without corruption, nor can I link the two together.
My e-mail is Emigliah@hotmail.com...
BTW: I'm not asking anyone to send me all six, if someone could take the time to send me just one of them (and say so on this topic, so others don't send me the same one) it would be appreciated.

Why do you want a house? Just kill everyone in a town. Then you have a town for yourself and all your pet skulls...
Well, that's what I did at least.
-
Well, I never knew that... Thanks, I'll try that.

The portals are not working. I am using Mac OS 9, and have the latest version of BOA.

OK. I am slightly confused. I have gotten this call to work before plenty of times. There is no error message of any sort, however when I load the game, the terrains that I defined will not use the animation steps. The floors, on the other hand, will. I am slightly confused by the concept.
Things I have made sure of/tried:
1. The animations steps do not run past the graphic's available icons.
2. After some editing, I converted a couple types of terrains to floors, seemed to work, but not well enough to use.
3. Hitting my computer.
Any other suggestions?

I think that you are incorrect. However, if you are right, Jeff should be slapped.Quote:Originally written by Drakefyre:

Nephilim, I have found, make some of the best characters in the game. One must simply know how to use one. Nephilim archers are great, but when you specialize too much into one skill, the character tends to end up lacking in almost every other aspect. I would suggest making a mix between a swords-man and an archer, if using a Nephilim. The best party I have ever made included 2 Sliths, both melee fighters, and 2 Nephil archers with a few points in swords just in case. Of course, one of the Nephil could make potions, seeing as I didn't use any type of magic besides some priest spells after I leveled up quite a bit. On the other hand, if you wish to make a hugely overpowered party (without using the editor that is), the way to do so is to use mages. Mages are weak physically, but once you get Lightning Spray, the game is over, since you will be able to kill massive amounts of low level creatures, therefore leveling up your men quickly. (Needless to say, don't rely too much upon Lightning Spray, they must be equalized throughout there spells, or when you run into something immune to, say, magic, you will be screwed.)
EDIT: BTW, from having screwed around with the editor enough (and BOA) I have found that bows are not only the most accurate of weapons, but also do the most damage in the end. -
Beyond that, the Taker research center (don't remember the name) also contains a canister which increases Create Drayk.

First off, I can't believe this topic is still in it's half-life. Having said that, I think a lot of things should change, however, I would be happy with one improvement, or possibly, just the awnser to this question: Why is it that Fire Shaping has: A Fyora. Thats sensical, it breaths fire, it's red. A Cryoa: It breaths ice, it's blue. I'm a little bit confused. A Roamer: It breaths acid. Huh? A PyroRoamer: It explodes. Ohhh okay. A Drayk: It is a lizard of fiery doom. Thats fine. A CryoDrayk: ??????????????????????????????????????????
A Drakon: Breaths fire. A Ur-Drakon: Breaths fire. I'm sorry Jeff, but after the original concept (which to me reminds me of the Vahnatai from Exile) you are an uncreative lump of poo.

ClawBugs are not any better then Thahds. However, they do look cooler. As I see it, if you are going to be a Shaper, you gotta be stylish, I mean, come on now...

Throughout my time here, I have never once yelled at anyone, however: STOP BRINGING UP OLD, DEAD TOPICS! GET A LIFE, DO NOT MAKE THE REST OF US SUFFER FROM YOUR BOREDOM! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LOCK THIS TOPIC...
EDIT: I think all topics that have not been replied to within a month should be locked automatically. It would make the insanity rate quite a bit lower on these forums.

CORRECTION: I need help. I can't figure out how to put custom graphics in the editor and would appreciate it if someone would take the time to tell me.Quote:Originally written by UR-drakon:

First off, please learn to spell better. It disturbs me. Second off, Macintosh or Windows? For a Macintosh you will need to get ResEdit. You will open ResEdit and create a new file named (your scenario name).cmg The .cmg part is important. Then load all of the custom graphics you want, through the copy and paste method, into the .cmg file. They should all be renumbered, to the numbers which lie within the editor's documentation. If you are still confused, read the documentation carefully. -
I am unsure about Avernum 3 (which I never registered) , however, if it holds to Exile 3 (which I did) then all you need to do is show Berra 3 different clues, and then visit Ghikra. From there you should be able to do that part of the storyline and then go get your weapon that does nothing but help the storyline. I am unsure whether or not you are saying that Berra will not even acknowledge the clues, but, if that is the case then you have found a major bug. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I was ignorant to the fact that someone had attempted it before. Thank you for the site. I must say, that I, regardless of how the others ended up after they realized the enormity of the project, plan on finishing this. I will post it when I am done, which, at the rate of which I have been working, will be within 30 days.

I attempt to obtain some sort of creativity, however, I lose my train of thought right about the time I start thinking. I have decided to make a RPG of Exile/Avernum converted to D&D 3.5 standards. I am having a problem with classes, prestige classes, and others. Please help by giving any ideas and/or comments on this. Mainly, what I am looking for is:
Playable Races:
1. Human
2. Slithzerakai
3. Nephilim
4. Nepharim
5. Vahnatai
6. Goblin
7. Dragons (maybe)
8. Demons (maybe)
9. GIFTS (maybe)
10. GIFTR (maybe)
and so on and so forth. Any OTHER suggestions would be usefull.
Classes so far:
1. Rebel
2. Rogue
3. Bard
4. Monk
5. Soldier
6. Barbarian
7. Priest
8. Wizard
9. Mage
10. Archer
Any others, would also be helpfull.
I have quite a few prestige classes and race specific classes, but I will refrain from listing them. In conclusion, what I am mainly looking for are suggestions on playable races/classes that would be found in Avernum. I am currently replaying the series in an attempt to get more, but having difficulty brainstorming.
BTW: Please refrain from suggesting a race of Vahnatai from when they were supposedly on the surface. The Vahnatai did not originate on the surface nor did I ever find evidence saying they had. For those of you who think that they did, play Avernum 2, read carefully.

If I were you, I would learn how to use a keyboard. No offense, but there are hotkey's on the keyboard for all of these random actions. If you learn how to use one, there would be no reason to implement such a feature.

A: This post should be in the technical support forum.
B: This is obviously a bug, therefore, no one without having ran into that bug will be unable to help you, and even if they had it is unlikely that they would have figured out a solution. I would suggest making sure that you are using the most recent version of GeneForge. There is not much more that I can offer then asking the technical support forum, or upgrading.

Don't have the correct version of Mac OSX. Didn't find any other compilers (at least not downloads) on the apple site.
