  1. I thought the order form that comes with the unregistered version said you can get BoE on three floppies, and that the CD is optional. Or I could be wrong. wink

Email Jeff and ask where you can download the full version while waiting for the CD.

If such a place exists, it had sure better be a secure site. laugh
  2. Well, that's what all the scenario designers do, too. They just give you the privelege and satisfaction of completing the quests to get them. Or getting the money to buy them, but that's a different story. laugh

But if you need a good weapon...yep, that's the easiest way to go.

  3. Did you just absolutely need it to win in your alpha-testing phase? :p Oh well, everybody makes mistakes; we've learned that. Speaking of an easy break, how about that tunnel leading out of the Experiment Halls in VoDT? People could have easily won without, though I think Jeff (Vogel, in this case) put it there to keep frustrated players from quitting the scenario altogether. wink

  4. Um, when I played B2 (until I encountered magic, that is frown ), I found a shop with 1-25+16+flaming weapons for sale, if you have 8000 gold for them, that is. laugh Anyway, that's the best weapon I've ever encountered (even if I didn't possess it).

  5. Gizmo--I'll always keep the trusty ol' ben4808 in my sig (or a very long time, anyway). I do like to play with my moniker every once in a while, but not near as much as Alorael, or lately, Thuryl. Specifically, I change it every 150 posts, so I'm stuck with this one until the 450 mark.

The 4808 is a long story. When I registered with the MSN gaming zone, I tried the name "ben", but of course, it was already taken, and "ben4808" was one of the main suggestions, probably because it was one of the only 4-digit numbers left after the name. *gulp* But anyway, I've kinda stuck with it when I registered here.

EDIT: Oh, and BtW, the number 4808 is strikingly close to my 18th birthday, ironically. I never really thought of it that that way. wink

  6. Oh boy. Everybody note, as similar as TGM's post above looked to mine, it is not the same. :p A striking resemblance, though, a bit different number in the moniker, the same title, only 9 account numbers away, and nearly the same number of posts. There is a difference, though. :p

Oh, and Aceron, you won't remember me; I'm a "n00b".

  7. Still no luck. mad I'm attributing this to the fact that the first town is a small town and the second is a medium. The coordinates of the stairway are (17,6), so I put the special at (17,6) in the new town (and yes, it was a one-time). I got no message when I activated the stairway, though it takes me to the second town in the right spot. Any more advice?

tDS-How exactly did you do it?

  8. Okay, I'll try that. I didn't think it would work that way as the player didn't actually "walk" on the space. Just like you can't call a special node immediately upon scenario entry--except for the intro text, but I wouldn't count that as a special.

As for my username, I really don't see a problem with it that requires it to be changed because TGM's name is never "The Great Mister" anymore (unless you count the Lyceum), so confusion should be avoided. Also, my names all only last for 150 posts.

  9. Another scenario design question (I just keep coming upon more and more).

Here's the situation: I want to give the party a choice of whether or not to leave one town and enter the next one, so I have a Display Dialog node with yes and no buttons. If the player chooses yes, I call a stairway node that takes them to the next town. All's well so far. But, I want to call another special immediately as the party enters the new town to inform them of this new situation. However, if I link another node to the Stairway node, it is ignored when I enter the second town. How do I get it to work?

I think it has come time for Spiderweb to do what it should have done years ago, and that is declare BoE abandonware.
Would that mean poeple could get it for free? smilesmilesmile

May I suggest using E-mail, etc., rather than this board.
Er, E-mail is too buggy and we don't get to read what other people have to say.

And I do agree, Spiderweb should majorly up their customer service. And yes, if Jeff has lost interest in what people think and are using his game for, he shouldn't still be making money on it. Here we have a BoE community, and now over there's a BoA community that's more active--for now. Anyway, another rather senseless rant that I lost myself in. </post>
  11. Actually, it sounds like a good idea. If there was a valid site with everything from Blades, it would be a good resource. However, I'm guessing that the people that tried to create it were horrible at it in some way and/or the site was badly designed or couldn't get good webspace or something. I'm still curious...

  12. Hmmmm...come to think of it now, would you say that I'm the newest member of the board that posts regularly (say ~5 posts per day when I'm here. No, I usual manage about 10, but I'll set 5 as the line between regular poster or not)? I might also be the only one over member number 4500 with at least 250 posts. wink
