  1. Well, I'm glad to see that people weren't lying when they said Avernum 2 was their favourite game . Rescuing the crystal souls is by far the most fun there is to have. - Archmagus Micael
  2. Um, serviles into troglodytes? Isn't that overkill? Besides, what about the Spawners? Wouldn't they have evolved? While it may be fun to try and compare the two worlds, unless JV makes a game that actually does so, this is all meaningless conjecture. Fun, but meaningless. - Archmagus Micael
  3. Most of the important npcs have sdfs coded into them I think. I'm not sure what they are though, or how to change them. If you're only at Kneece anyway I'd suggest re-starting the game, and be careful not to kill any npcs (or if you do load afterwards). - Archmagus Micael
  4. The Exile Trilogy had a spell for just about everything. I think everyone misses the old spells, but since Avernum's combat is so much easier, there's no need to make the enemies run away...
  5. Um... EDIT: You can now get it here. - Archmagus Micael EDIT: It DOES work fine, but some PCs have trouble with the zip file. Dunno why. Try Winzip if all else fails, that seems to work nearly every time.

  7. Agent. You can just blast away anything without them even touching you. - Archmagus Micael

  9. Don't think so. Why don't you want to use fullscreen? If you're on windows you can always use ALT-TAB to change windows. - Archmagus Micael
  10. Um, This setup file works perfectly. I'm not sure if it's the latest version, but you can always update that. If this setup doesn't work then the problem's on your end. - Archmagus Micael
  11. Hmm. Have you checked your computer for viruses or malware recently? If you have any it could be messing things up. Do other install files work, or is it just Nethergate's installer which dies? - Archmagus Micael
  12. Well, if you have a copy of the game where it lets you change monsters just try it out yourself. Us win users have to win the old-fashioned way. - Archmagus Micael
  13. There's more than 1 empire fort with an orb in it. When you clear the right one the quest will be completed. Check the FAQs to find out which fort has the one you're looking for. - Archmagus Micael
  14. Overall I prefer the GF1 spawners. However, I think that both are good in their own ways. The GF3 ones should be for more "heavy" creatures, which would need a "heavy-duty" spawner to create them. The GF1 spawner would be for "light" variants such as Cryoa and Artillas. Ofcourse, I prefer no spawners, but that's never going to happen, unless I blast them myself. - Archmagus Micael

And you don't need much archery skill to use it. If spiderweb is going to rebalance the game in the future, I would recommend making the shockwave bow a little less effective. Yes, but the bow itself did minimal damage, and late-game the enemies never get stunned, so it doesn't matter. - Archmagus Micael

  19. *cough, cough* It's not the best example, but he did willingy abdicate, if only to change his mind a short while later. - Archmagus Micael

But wouldn't that be just plain old magic, as they're magical constructs. It would just use the essnge from the mage/thing that turned them into ghosts/shades. I'd assume that would weaken the spell holding them together (which is why they stop every now and then). - Archmagus Micael

  22. I know everyone asks this, but have you got the latest sound drivers? - Archmagus Micael
  23. Quote: Originally written by Djuran Orb v. Arancaytog: The games have definitely never said essence was injected into shapers. Isn't the basic idea that all living things have essence in them, and that shapers learn to harness their own essence in a specialized way, presumably growing better at it as they gain in skill? I always imagined Essence as some kind of inner power which everything has, sort of liek the mitochlorians (or however they're spelt) in Star Wars. Every living thing has it, but only a few individuals (namely the Jedi) are lucky enough to be born with it in abundance. I'm tempted to email JV and ask, but I don't really want my idea to be smashed by him. Perhaps this is what happens with the Shapers? After all, not everyone is cut out to be a Shaper. - Archmagus Micael

It's nicer not to get attacked by two Hakaii and 7 demons to start with, but I have to agree with you. I think that real-time should be kept woth RTS and FPS, not RPG. And after my original short-comings about Avernum 4, I must say that I bought it after a day or two, so it's not that bad. - Archmagus Micael
