  3. If you've got them all, then the easiest way to find out what they do is to walk around for a while and wait for something unusual to happen... EDIT: this is teh 1337 post... omgz1!1!!!111
  4. Thank you for your opinion, and you'll be glad to know that many others feel the same. Unfortunately, those other people had already set up threads for this sort of thing... I think it'd be appreciated if you left your gripes in one of those topics.
  5. Then just mess with special items until you get the rings... SAVE FIRST. Hey, I tried.
  6. Yep, this topic has been done, but it's so old that it was absorbed by the PPP. So, the thread you want is HERE .

  8. Why was this topic revived? I'm just kind of curious, really...
  9. I think you can exploit the "fight-end combat" bug to do this. However, I don't remember anything interesting being back there.
  10. The door cannot be opened in the demo. (As a side note, I'd like to encourage use of the search function of the boards... because this question has been asked many times before)
  11. I've got an idea... let's have A5 span all the continents, including Avernum, Upper Avernum, and Vahnatai Lands! And let's resurrect every major villain from the plots of games past, and have you fight them! Even Geneforge villains! And you'll be able to play as humans, slith, nephilim, vahnatai, dragons, undead, giant slimes, and Celts! And if you unlock the easter egg, you can play as the First Expedition, and even die like they did! And you'll be able to buy houses on every continent, and open businesses, and do courier runs between continents for huge amounts of cash that you'll never use! And there won't be boats! And plagues! Lots of plagues! Demons, cockroaches, and giant slimes! Heck, let's throw in dragons and vahnatai as well! How about some legendary weapons that you can resell and buy back for as many copies as you want! Let's lose the character editor, lose the plot, and throw in fifteen extra Xian items! And you know what, when you finish, you won't be able to continue! And even better, let's use another new engine!!!! Why not?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!?? (heavy breathing) Or, we could just leave it to Jeff, like we always have. I prefer that method.
  12. Wow... (applause) It's good to see that the title still rings true.

  14. Look upstairs in a small farmhouse north of Formello.
  15. The soul-collecting idea is... well, quite frankly, it sounds kind of weak. Going off of the idea that any "capture soul" spells thus far have required crystals, any villain capable of that would probably be vahnatai, particularly if they're able to easily overwhelm the most powerful NPCs in Avernum. The giant monster/bandit rebellion... it sounds like A4 again. Haven't we killed enough chitrachs yet? EDIT: Quote: Originally written by Glafna: and thousands of weakers monsters Gah!!! No!!! Anything but that! It just screams, "I've got hordes of progressively harder monsters for no apparent reason!"
  16. No... Grah-Hoth was killed/banished in A1. So was Adze-Haaki. So it won't work. And Glafna, more races won't help anything. You've basically suggested werewolves and vahnatai minus the body shape. Neither sounds particularly good. EDIT: I believe this is post #1300. Yay.
  17. They just stun you. A lot. I don't think anything actually drains your experience points in A4. Even ye olde Draining/Searing Brews are gone.
  18. Even if you are using a laptop, you might be able to move using the keyboard. Does your keyboard have a number pad that overlaps with the letter keys? Some laptops have this (such as most iBooks), and it lets you use the number pad after hitting "num lock".
  19. Quote: Originally written by CAJUN: I was in me boat floating down the river,I came across an obelisk Kav Ait Bon.....ok, Not important yet, but you'll be glad you looked at it. Suffice it to say that it's one of the most random hints the game ever offers. Quote: Originally written by CAJUN: How do the barriers come down? Have you gone through the passage in the northeast of Formello? The answer's at the very, very end of all of that.

  21. That's why I said he didn't have to worry about it until much, much later. Come to think of it, I don't think it was called that until A4... that's strange.
  22. I believe Cajun means a door in the far southwest corner of the demo area... which you don't have to worry about until later. Much later. Specifically, you'll find the password in SPOILER on SPOILER . And if you're really interested, that door marks an SPOILER . Spoilers are fun!

Killed all 4 of his healing things(danm that poision hurt) then taken him out with my Slith soldier Hrickis is not the vahnatai. Hrickis is a crazed necromancer up to the northeast of Formello, with a rather small lair and a pair of pylons guarding him. Kravvit-Bok is the vahnatai, if I recall correctly. He has taken over a substantial part of Motrax's caves, and has four pylons guarding him.
  24. I don't think it's possible, actually.
  25. Uh... the best advice I can give is "don't shield yourself so much". If you're not taking enough damage, try to take some more. I seem to recall that I did this: -Stow all but one character out of the shade's sight, and thus its range. -Heavily shield that last character (my fighter), and sit them right next to the shade. (I think I used an invulnerability potion) -Wait until the shade is done, and keep healing the one character who's being damaged.
