  1. I seem to remember that it was Prismatic Shield, plus a wisdom crystal or two. Pretty nice reward, really... but those spiders are tough.
  2. Impressive work. I never really liked Hardiness as an ability, though... needing 20 to make a significant difference seems overly steep. What about different levels of Hardiness, say 5/10/15?
  3. Somehow I feel that the smoother look of slopes makes sense. I think inconsistencies would be eroded fairly quickly.
  4. It'd be so nice to see humans be more playable... I mean seriously, it's nice to see slith nephilim getting a shot at adventuring. But when everybody's playing parties of four nephilim, something in the game's balance is off...

  6. Check the southwest corner of the upper level of Rentar's lair. The item is in a box.
  7. I find that Hardiness gets very little use in my games... I really prefer Defense and Dexterity (and thus, Parry). Spreading those skills around helps greatly. That, and Gymnastics can be quite helpful.
  8. Well, it's a lot of work to get Blademaster. But it's powerful. But you're already getting levels of it, so... maybe not. Train in Parry. It's good. And Defense and Dexterity are very good things to train in even if you're not reaching for Parry...
  9. Neither of the two gremlins in the game are terribly essential to the plot. Both ask for wine, if I recall correctly...
  10. What was the fourth test again? I can never remember them, except for the first one and the last two.
  11. There were many, many secret passages outdoors in Avernum. Just not in A4. I think the best element of that was finding the back entrance to various forts. The classic example would be the old nephilim fort SW of Formello.

I was under the impression that chitrachs dug them out... at least in the Eastern Gallery. I just want to blame chitrachs, honestly...

My one attempt took about half an hour, and it didn't even change the ending. Let me make this perfectly clear: you don't need to kill Rentar-Ihrno. You just need to reach the control panel behind her. Quote: Originally written by 1337 h4x0r: Hmph. I post after one of my previous posts, and I'm accused of double-posting. Well, in all fairness, that is the definition of a double post.
  14. I think the real question here is this: How far into the game are you? (I mean, what day?) Depending on how far into the game you are, Father Oriathon may have been killed by the roaches. It could happen to anyone in Bigail. And you will be able to do courier missions again, just not immediately. You can always try and set the day back a few weeks using the Editor, and see if that makes him reappear.
  15. It's really just easier to use the Character Editor for this, since I don't think there's a way to do this without cheating.

"This is Linda's quarters, please leave" You mean A1? Linda no longer has chambers in A2... she's been exiled to Motrax's caves, if I recall correctly...

Maybe it's not really Pyrog Ow, ow, ow... why?! WHY?!!! At first, I read this and thought "Tell me Vicheron knows that Pyrog is dead..." Next, I thought "Risen as a lich? Anything but an undead dragon!" Next, I realized how bad of a pun "An old enemy has risen" was. Last, I recalled my experience testing Shipwrecked, where SPOILER is the main villain. That was horrible... they had no character, no motivation, and nothing at all to do with the character's past appearances. Please don't do this. Pick a new villain, so that we're not left with an empty characterization of an established member of game canon. EDIT: Hah, beat you to the post, Wonko!
  18. Quote: Originally written by Vicheron: an old foe has risen, This phrase makes me die a little inside. New foes are so much better... or would you rather kill Rentar-Ihrno in UV again? The rest of that idea actually sounds pretty good. Perhaps trying to do too much in one scenario, but it might work.
  19. I always thought that it's the kind of item which runs counter to the over-arching goal of all living adventurers: not get killed. Imagine this: Your party is sneaking through a fortress full of angry giants, and you're blessing and hasting before bursting into the room where the chief sleeps. You've been successful in slipping past guards so far, and you're ready to kill the chief in his sleep. ... then, out of nowhere, "HI! I'M A TALKING SKULL!" Cue the guards, the death image, and a reload.
  20. If I recall correctly... -Take the path farthest west from Fort Remote -Then, once you cross a small chasm and see some more pylons to the north, cut across to the east, until you reach the easternmost tunnel of those three. -Head north, and you'll find a few passages downward. (And I didn't mean save with every step. I just meant walk slowly, because when you're just able to see a pylon, you're one square out of its strike range) EDIT: You'll know you've found the right place because you'll get a text message to the effect of "the Avernite soldiers somehow managed to destroy these pylons".
  21. Okay, first, the game does change back to "normal" after you finish Rentar's keep. But as for that section of the game, here's a general tip: Move slowly, and watch the edge of your vision range. If you can see a pylon, you've probably gone the wrong way. If that pylon can attack you, you've definitely gone the wrong way.

  23. If I recall correctly, one of its most useless quips was "Hi, I'm a talking skull."
  24. Your Arcane Lore skill doesn't matter for reading those scrolls... it's a matter of finding the right person to translate them for you. For the earliest leg of that quest, the solution lies in this thread .
