  1. I remember when my parents upgraded their computer with a 7 gig hard drive to a new desktop with a 70 gig hard drive. The first time I used it I couldn't believe how much memory I had. "What am going to do with all this space!"

Mind you, on my old computer I needed to delete things in order to install new stuff on it. I was thrilled to have more space....but wow! 70 gig!

  2. According to snopes, there's no evidence that he actually said it and he's even denied it in more than one interview. They believe that the reason it still comes up is because it fits the attitude

    If the 80's.

And yes, I did know that when I posted it.

  3. after searching through the forums i still have some questions about money

first, i've drained all three towns, Rakkus and several loners of their money and i still have a ton of loot i want to sell. is there any more sellers with money?

second, is there anything to buy besides for luck? (i don't need any more leadership and mechanics) basically should i just max it out now or save the money for later?

  4. i loaded up on living tools to break in to the sealed labs and discovered that i picked up a key to it somewhere and was able to open both doors to go inside.

My solo agent didn't have much trouble wiping out everyone but the door to the control room is locked and i can't get in to it.

based on the walkthrough by matt p there should be no trouble getting there but i can't get to it to open all the rest of the doors on the level

  5. Beating A5 without finishing a single quest? That's impossible. I mean, just to get past the first part you have to finish the Hunt Hiricks Quest.

i actually reinstalled A5 just to test this out again and raised all the stats to the 41 maximum and tried a runthrough. you're right about the hirickis quest but thats the only one that doesn't let you through. I actually started by wondering if i took the northwest passage without stopping by any of the islands what would happen and when i docked by the next down upgraded my abilities and then plowed to the end. so i started after i completed the quest and had totally forgotten about it.

  6.

And what was the result of the experiment?

this was a few years back so i don't remember if i actually beat the game, but it is possible for a god team to make it all the way to the end without finishing a single quest. you need to defeat enemies that are way too powerful for a normal player but once you boost your stats ridiculously high it is possible to brute force your way through every single chokepoint and go from beginning to end in under twenty minutes.

  7. I've actually experimented with a god party in A5 by editing scripts on items to raise stats and I needed to to raise them by 50 levels before I was able to run through the game without a challenge.

I wanted to see if I could go straight to the endzone without doing any quests to unlock the next area.

I was surprised that the party level had so much to do with damage output. My first editing added 20 levels of base stats and wasn't effective at dealing damage at all.

  8. Yes, because unless your playing the shaper packhorse, you need to constantly check to see that you aren't carrying too much and can no longer attack.

I find that the best thing is to make supply trips to the exit to dump everything. This is easier to me than completing the zone and then gathering up everything.

I also need to stop every few zones to dump living tools at the edge of a friendly town as they are a big source of unnecessary weight.

Every other issue can be adapted to, but this is a persistent annoyance.

Even the limited gold is less bothersome as I've kept on finding new merchants to unload the plunder.

  9. Halfway through Geneforge 1, I would say that you get used to it. The first couple of zones are hard but after that you adapt. Biggest issue I found was the having to constantly drop items by an exit so I could continue to fight. Fortunately dropping items doesn't use up action points so while being surprised by an enemy is annoying, forcing you to drop all heavy items it is not a multi turn fatal error.

Also I found that using the graphics remake which turns the eye hurting green to a subdued grey helps tremendously.

  10. i went to meet with Buron and after finishing his quest i noticed a locked door behind him that he doesn't talk about. when i tried opening it with 8 mechanics i got a message saying it requires 17 living tools!

does anyone know what is in there? i do have enough living tools but i just want to know if it is worth it (actually is it worth the effort of using these living tools one by one)

i checked the walkthrough by matt p and he doesn't mention it at all.

  11. i've been stockpiling unsellable bags of meal and i want to know if i should stop. does anyone have a quest for meal?

    anyone want shaper equipment?

i'm still not finished the demo and i have 32 living tools. is there any point to saving them? (most times i just hit unlock anyways)

is there any other quest items?
