  1. 1. Miranda- the fatalist with a sense of humour. 2. Greta- comes across for a majority of it as trying to play the good guy, then when faced with a major moral dilema makes her choice. 3. I sympathise with the rebel cause but don't necessarily agree with their approach. The trakovites are too all-encompassing (even if I agree with some of what they're saying). The shapers are probably the only faction I have little sympathy for. Too colonialist for me. 4. strong daze/mass energize though I do enjoy aura of flame. 5. Wingbolts, but for sheer fun eyebeast, Ur-drakons less fun than they used to be. 6. 8 to 8.5
  2. I've only manage to get one ending for the celts, where as the romans I can get two. Is this pretty much it?
  3. I would like to see more shaper tailored attacks/blessings/etc like the disruption attack (but obviously not the same). After all the two sides are heavily focused on fighting each others creations. Spells which purely focused on shaped creations (possibly including the PC, if they are a servile). Seems wasteful on some levels, but in my mind that's what they're focused on.
  4. Personally my big issue is the AI of the opponents. In previous exile/avernum games particularly the last couple and definitely in blades, opponents took advantage of things that were lying around. I didn't find it as much in this game, also I found spellcasters didn't resort as much to spellcasting as in previous SW games, but maybe this is a preference I loved the fact in previous games if you didn't want that goblin shaman to hurl a ball of flame at you you'd better close quick smart, where as in this one about half the time (even on torment) they're inclined to try to whack you with a piece of wood. Personally I think the OP is someone with a fondness for the Geneforge series by the sound of it. I miss the exile/avernum 4 (which is the only one it seems to have come back in) thing of area spells been a little more dangerous to fire off rather than the targeting spells that pop up in the Avernum/Geneforge series. I also like the fact that both you and your opponents could fire spells around the corner in exile (the tower of magi, exile 3 anyone?).

What I'm wondering is what happens if you choose the option to enslave the djinn? Do you get like a super power up? We're referring to torment mode and we did it before Goagh Nar. If you enslave the djinn you get +1 to strength, dexterity, intelligence, and endurance but then it gets interesting. I'm with the beta testers on this one, on torment those slimes hit way too frequently, and that lich is at the very least mildly frustrating. Interesting, such as in "I bow down to you master before kicking you where it hurts interesting?"
  6. pretty close to the end you'll get to take your frustrations out on one of the crones (if you're a celt that is), either that or you could tamper with the area file if you're that desperate to kill them. Just wait till close to the end its easier.
  7. actually you can get three scales (or at least there are three ways you can get the scales), not that's there's any use for the excess scales.
  8. I found it, but thanks for the replies, though I'm confused by the last one (I presume you're referring to how tough he is/was/etc.)
  9. Where in the land of the dead is this place?? I'm wandering like an idiot, I just want to shut that silly centurion up permanently.
  10. my bad, it was Gaitlan, and I got him mixed up with one of the wolf carcasses. Neither less the other question remains, is it in any way possible to edit/change the day?
  11. is there any way to change to day in this? (I have a dead fairy on a stone, because I arrive on day 5 in the crone caverns)
  12. if I was being nice I would say he's there just for colour but also to be a red herring in relation to a certain rumour about a mandrake salesman.
  13. I know this is a spoiler, but you didn't kill Erika did you?
  14. actually if you want to speed up the four encounters in the house, just move around the entrance hall, between the altar room, and the weapons room, it seems to be triggered randomly when you cross across that area.

Since wingbolts are the first true flying creations and are suspect for rogue tendencies, it is too early for Shapers to go airborne. Actually when we still had the Awakened around, their final ending definitely had flying creatures.

  17. I do love the infiltrator/agent character. Warriors and Shocktroopers have their own advantages like any other class. Servile and Infiltrators are more loners than the others, but trade off by been stronger in the solo skills. Life crafters are probably most difficult as soloists (due to the high cost of parry, lack of HP, ). Shocktroopers and Warriors probably get the most decent variety of attacks without having to use spells, they can probably devote most of the points in spells towards blessing and just use creations to sub for battle spells, whilst been able to throw in a couple of blows themselves. Shocktroopers more on the creatures as a frontline, whilst warirors more with the creatures as backups, but they both still have strong areas, its just their weak area, is one that people like using a lot.
  18. I its just an easier way to get to the southern area in front of the fort. There's a small ambush there (a couple of kyshakks) that drop some stuff.

  20. if you really want to do this, just open gf4itemschar.txt and play around with things, add things if you want (for the love of whomever back it up before doing it). You've just got to learn how to work out the codes. Adding items in game is easy as far as I can tell, modifying items, is a little more difficult.
  21. I would love to have a nethergate type setup, where you could pick to start as a rebel (and have all the rebel classes) or start as a shaper (and choose from the shaper classes). Yes I know some classes are equivilants but if you had the same thing as nethergate happening, which is for those who haven't played it, the two corresponding storylines interact, so when party A is doing something party B is too it would be quite interesting. Its probably too much effort just because it would mean writing storylines for both characters when you're only using one, and then there would be the confusion of what to do with the other if you turned coat. Still... I would like the shapers to notice if you had creatures they've barred or don't use, and have the appropriate reactions, its a minor point and I don't know how you would implement it, but it would force the point a little in my mind about the general reaction of the population to seeing a drakon or gazer in the street.
  22. *Sigh* I shouldn't weigh into this argument, but to sum up the two sides in G4, Shapers represent the stasus quo and the rebellion represent its opposite. There are examples of decent people on both sides of the divide and people whose views can stry dangerously (for them) close to their enemies (the servile tender in gamma camp, Ozzys in the safehouse as examples),and like the right/left political divide the more extreme they get, the more they seem to behave like each other. Neither is better and neither is meant to be better. The shapers have attempted definitely genocide, the drakys been barred would have meant any existing ones would have be hunted down and reasorbed regardless of how they felt about it , and been most definitely sentient(at least the game would suggest this), most of them would have preferred to stay alive. The rebels in pretty much all games so far have had factions that have taken something to the extreme often to the detriment of everyone else around them. Those who have taken it to the extreme often ignore any sense of ethical morality to do so. This of course is a matter of opinion as whether that in itself in harmful, but from a utiltarian point of view, the actions of the extremists (at least in the story) have generally resulted in greater harm than benefit. The pro-shaper factions in return have also had people who have ruthlessly crushed any stray thought, let alone anything else that deviated from what was the status quo. They are just as terrifying as those whom they oppose and/or fear. Both extreme make things very black and white and therefore tolerate nothing but their own. Maybe I've got no idea how old people are who are writing on these boards, but this is starting to remind me of any ye old political argument with the left clambering in one corner and the right in the other.
  23. I would add essence orbs and wrack to that list. Essence orbs because its useful for those that don't have a lot of magical attack power and its multi-target but not exceptionally draining, wrack because lowering an attackers resistences is exceptionally useful, particularly if you are a heavy non-physical attacker.
  24. not in the nest when it is killed and its random. I think the eye is guranteed, but the fine animal skin is chance (so influenced by luck).
