  1. I'm glad to see a return (although slight) to the old games (keeping food,). I'm sure the map will reflect differences over the years due to quakes, explosions, erosion, etc. But all in all the main part of the game has always intrigued me. The quests get you started but always the plot draws you in. The old returning characters keep it rememberable while new charaters keep it fresh.

I remember fist playing Exile 1: Escape from the Pit. You could literally go almost anywhere. There were a few exceptions like locked doors that needed keys or Solberg's Tower, but all in all, you could go anywhere.

Then Exile 2: Crystal Souls came out and then all of the sudden you need Clearances to get into certain areas which at first was completely mental, but have come to regard it as one the most appealing things I liked about the game. Also there were the Vahnatai Barriers that block most of the areas.

Exile 3: Ruined World was like combining the first two. You could go almost anywhere if you had done enough special things (beat the Slimes or Roaches).

If what they say about Avernum 6 is correct, then it will be a truly awsome game! cool

After Nethergate I quit playing Jeff's games for a while (nothing to do with his games, though) and finally came back for Avernum 4 (which I enjoyed, but not as much as Exile 2).
After that I played Geneforge 3 and liked it a lot (story- and gameplay-wise). I've played every game since and while I thoroughly (some more, some less) enjoy them, they all fail to reach the quality of Exile 2's intricate storyline (GF 5 only slightly imho).

But whatever Jeff's got up his sleeve: I'm pretty sure I'll like it

I'm with this guy. No matter how good these new games are, I'm still kind of a softy for the older games that brought alot of us here in the first place! I do enjoy the new games alot and play them for hours. But there's just something about the older games that just makes some like me slightly nostalgic (sp?).

I'll enjoy any game Jeff comes out with.
  3. I'm sorry if I seem to repeat what may have been said earlier, but I don't have the time to read all 18 pages of things here.

I believe Solberg's gonna be dead for this game. frown In A5, at the end of the quest of his messed up machines when you don't kill that guy, Solberg says that he's gonna make preparations. I take this to mean that he's gonna make preparations to die.

Now what if he does stop using magic to prolong his life but it's too late. Instead of dying, he becomes Undead! Not like normal undead, but more of a Lich. He reverts back to his normal state of mind, but is shunned by the Avernites for being undead.

Also, having A6 set on the surface would work if the distance was put into view. Having cities put too close together is kinda irritating.

I have no other problems with A5 as it is now. If A6 had basically the same of everything (except the storyline and setting) as A5, it will also be a great game.

I'm sorry if I don't know much about A5. I just got the game a few days ago and I'm only up to the Vahnatai Lands.

But about the ending of A5, I believe the one the one to be 'official' is where Dorikas gets killed. But what do I know? I'm just like the rest of you...making guesses. It's all up to Jeff as to what he uses or doesn't use. cool

Sorry...I should've looked at the date before posting. I didn't mean to resurrect a dead topic.

  4. My what you miss in a few months.

I am also a lover of the Exile series (although that could be debated by some!) frown . I'm glad to see alot of changes in the updates of all of these new games. I know a few people, no matter what, will always be disappointed. smile I also miss dual weapons, but I don't recall any Avernum game to have that ability (I'm not sure as I haven't played any of the games in about 3 months).

Thank you for listening to the rantings of one crazy, bald, eccentric! cool

So that was you, huh? I thought that I recognized you. cool

Also I should say that it's pretty good to see people still talking about the old Exile series.
  6. What's this about me going crazy? confused Don't you know that I'm the greatest Archmage EVER! wink Y'all just don't understand the pressure of all this power. Or maybe because I'm so OLD (only 137, but don't tell noone). frown Well anyway I don't like being called crazy, but extremely eccentric is perfectly fine. laughcool

P.S. I appologize ahead of time if this is in the wrong forum. cool

I do have a sister who uses my computer, but she knows NOTHING about these games. It had to have been by someone who knows the games (somewhat). But to say something like what was said (in what is supposed to be) my post is just totally retarded. I even asked her if she posted anything here and she told me that she doesn't visit the sites I go to. cool

    1. I don't believe Salmon hacked into my account.
    2. I don't take any pills or medications.

But something is still not right! frown

It's probably even too late to say something like that, huh? confusedcool
