The general consensus appears be to fire and magic, which I also support. I tended to keep a Wingbolt and some kind of fire creation to keep my poor Lifecrafter alive from long ranges.

I kinda liked my insane, glass-cannon lifecrafter. I had a sweet team of two creations (Beta and Wingbolt) that utterly annhilated anyone I came up against in the latter half of the game. Sometimes I needed tactics, but my 9 in Blessing Magic worked wonders. It was good stuff.

Spoiler! ..... ..... Okay, you've been warned. I used as many canisters as I could because I craved powerful creations. This had rather detrimental effects for my Pro-Shaper lifecrafter. Shaper and Drakon alike tried to help my poor sanity with little effect. I didn't appreciate the ending one bit. They spared my life! Oh, joy! Clap hands, dance around exuberantly! /sarcasm Anyway, the most of the canisters seemed to be worth using if you didn't mind the going insane part. They tended to give you powers that you wouldn't necessarily be able to get otherwise at that point in time.

Slartanalysis: Creations I
Silver Shadow replied to Punctuation rains from the heavens's topic in Geneforge Series
The combination I ended up using for the last half of the game (as a Lifecrafter) was Wingbolt/Battle Beta. After I magicked everything to near invincibility, the beta distracted whatever it was I was trying to kill while the Wingbolt took chunks out of it from afar. I only added a Kyshakk near the end because I was afraid I'd need more range support. In retrospect, I really should have subsituted a Drayk. The irony would have been delicious. -
Very quick Geneforge 4: Rebellion Update.

I am down to running tree branches back and forth for money in my text-based game... It is high time for something new and interesting to spring up and tear me away from my boredom. -
I do note with some joy that there are little bag icons next to some of the creations.

Oh, bah... It was a month and 10 days old. Leniency, I plead! -

I dunno. I think most companies where the long series got dry and stuff were large ones, y'know? Jeff could pull it off. With a lot of effort. -
D'oh. And there it is. Cheers, Alorael. (butchers Tolliver) I currently have 8 tool use, so I guess it's not 8. Oh well. I wonder what the "green sphere" on his belt was..

I have done a stupid. Shame on me. So, couple questions. I've found the main entrance with the apparently übertraps, and I didn't want to blow my characters to smithereens (I'm rather fond of my party). So the question is, how high must your tool use be to deactivate those traps. Secondly, Commander Anford (in Fort Draco) said there was an escape tunnel that led to the spot where the guy was hidden. It was supposably free of traps because Tolliver didn't know it existed. So where is this tunnel? Thanks, folks.

Who knows? I'd kinda like to see people react to my creations. I mean, okay. So I play a loyalist to the Shapers in GF3. And yet I'm walking around with a Drayk. An illegal Drayk. So... shouldn't they get mad at me for that? Or at least suspicious? Shouldn't ordinary people become nervous when they see my mighty companions? Honestly, I could kick their butts without too much effort. So why no creation effects?

I have a spelling/grammar error to report. When you meet up with Master Hoge for the second time in one of the marshes with roamers, he talks to you. One of the responses to his messege for you apparently makes him join you. It is phrased: "I will try and meet with the rebels and at least see what they have to say and you shal go with me!." Not to offend, but you may want to rephrase it slightly. Perhaps making it two sentences, like "I will try and meet with the rebels and at least see what they have to say. But you should come with me." Or something of the like. Edit: the permanant radient shield and blessing effects are a nice touch, by the way. Edit two: I came across an odd messege while taking down the spawners in Madness Mire. zspawner30.txt Error. Bad term in expression in line 52 I have no idea whether that has anything to do with this cheater or not, but it happened while I was destroying spawners.

I'm playing a Shaper. No, I'd say it's probably that I was at too low a level to have the capacity for enough essence. At level 13, I've got 366 essence, so... At Lair of the Creator: Is the Shaper Shadow supposed to join me after I talk to it a second time, or is it in the script that I suddenly have a spawner in my party? A spawner that's in danger of getting killed by the hostile one right next to it. Edit: btw, the spawner doesn't seem to do anything, and there's no image in its stats. Also: At Fort Kentia, you might want to have Captain whathisface join you after you do stuff for him. He seems to have joined me nearly as soon as I got into the fort, which kinda killed my chances of talking to him. I ended up dismissing him and leaving the town, then coming back and talking to him.
-
Unfortunately, Abbadon, I still don't have enough essence. Perhaps it's that I'm using 1.0 and or that I got my gift as a level 4 character.
-
Should I be able to create an Ur-Drakon after letting Alwan join me? 'cause even with my awesome gift, I only have 186 essence.
-
Personally, I'd bet on the outsider human as the next main char.

(grins) Ah... the joys of having a book of answers... There are three canisters total. The first is in Icy End. The second is in Benerii-Eo Labs. The third is in The Geneforge.
-
'kay, here we go, folks. (opens the Book of Answers) The Lightning Girdle can be made of a Perfected Belt, a Solidified Flame, and an Ur-Drakon Skin. Ur-Drakon skins can be found in two places: Spire Forest and Monostary Caves. I would venture to guess that the one in Spire Forest would be obtained by killing Khossos Blaze, but as I haven't gotten that far yet, I don't know. Luck, Stuggie. Hope you won't need it.

Given my choice of not having Drakon in there... It's definitely the cryodrayk.

Runed items, blessing stones, etc..? (spoilers, no doubt)

interesting.... only one enchantment for each weapon, though, right? -
Really? Fooey. I think I remember being able to do stuff like that in at least one of GF3's predecessors... Oh well...

Not completely true, but mostly. The longer you took in VotDT, the more flora died. I believe people left, as well, but I'm not positive. In any case, it was always possible to win the scenario, no matter how long you took to do it. And I've got a strange sense of deja vu. But that's beside the point.

How does one go about opening boxes with living tools? They don't seem to have a use option, and now that I've finally come across a box my Shaper can't open without triggering whatever nasty trap the owner set for me, I'm a little curious. Anybody know?
-
Hm... I suppose, but generally, I like to get my ordering out of the way. I'm on a tight budget, you see, and so the sooner I order the game, the better.
