The areas to the east are somewhat easy or heading straight north from Pentil for a few zones.  Joining a faction like the Obeyers gives you information about where to go, so talk to Rydell about your path and he tells you about strangers east of Kazg. There are plenty of things to fight so your path is easier for some that like combat or other routes are better for mechanics and stealth.

Just make different saves and see what happens when you enter a zone. There isn't a right answer, but some places are really hard at this point so consider them the wrong way to go,

Thanks so much Randomizer, you have saved me with valuable info or contributions to these forums in the past, I remember your name. My respects! -and gratitude. I will go north of Pentil I just realized I've been lazy in that area 😛

  2. Maybe more experienced players can help me with suggestions. So far I've covered the Awakened area until they said they had nothing more to offer me. Then moved to Pentil where I felt so flattered that I decided to help the Obeyers. Did a few missions and made sure to let them know I was by their side, however I did not get more missions from them, so I went East and a bit north as you can see in the map:

    My current map

I am now in Kazg (only talked to Gnorrel, most of the town still unexplored) but am not sure I want to join them, hence therefore they are not giving me any info or missions...

Areas to the north are the ones I felt should be visited when I am more powerful or am I wrong?

I thought that by siding with the Obeyers I could stick to them pretty much till the end of the game but it looks like now I cannot progress further unless I side with the Takers? or maybe I should just explore the areas in red because they are not as hard as I think?

    I'd appreciate any input,

    thanks a lot in advance!

  3. Hello,

I have a related question: I completed this quest and reported to Godwin, he said something about being quick to kill vlish but no reward! I was hoping a message like "Quick action increases +1" but nothing, or is it a different kind of reward I missed? The quest is now gone but I really didn't get what the reward was?

Faction choice isn't nearly as important as it was in the other Geneforge games. It's even possible to join all 3 factions without too much difficulty. But in terms of unique bonuses:

Awakened: You get training that gives +1 to all combat skills.

Obeyers: You get training that gives +1 to Create Fyora

Takers: You get an amulet that allows you to bypass some of the most difficult maps. Probably the most useful for a pacifist character.

There are some other, minor, bonuses, but for the most part your faction choice isn't a big deal.

Thank you so much, exactly the info I was looking for.

  5. I just bought this great game and although I finished G1 back in the day I don't remember much.

I am on my way to Pentil but am well aware I will have to make some decisions (so far I've been neutral.

Which choice makes you more powerful? I think they must be equally balanced so no matter which side you choose you'll get the same power, am I right?

  6. I started playing Geneforge 1 (and intend to re-do the whole saga!) on my old laptop and bought a new one last week. I couldn't transfer the saved games, but this was very helpful and solved my problem. So, it's still valid for Windows 10 in 2019 😊

Not true for A4, this only started with A5.

jimbob, your "problem" is that you installed the game in program files. Afaik newer OSes (7&8, maybe Vista too) don't allow those directories to be modifed by applications. Look in C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\[APPNAME] or something like that.

Then send an email to orders@spidewebsoftware.com with information about your purchase. Registration information should have been in the email from when you bought it, if you still have that email.

Little R missing in that email address...

I just ordered games via paypal but I haven't received the code and the game stills says it is an unregistered copy although I installed the full version they sent. I guess I have to wait for a few hours to get that code on my email...
