  1. the PM doesn't seem to be working - is your pm box full or something?
  2. I could still do with a couple of windows testers. thanks in advance
  3. (working title) It's for the 24-hr scenario contest, screenshot here. If you're interested in testing, let me know and I'll PM you a link to the files.
  4. Good to hear that. I'm still busy with exams currently, but I've been reading through the existing code a bit. Is there a particular direction that the editor's going to go in? You mentioned editing multiple towns a while back, and it would be nice to, for example, separate the town window from the terrains&tools window to make this easier.
  5. When the new boards were first up, it was possible to give yourself a custom title (presumably accidentally?), so here i am with an exciting custom title.
  6. hm, I think I should be able to judge if necessary...is there any confirmation on the dates?
  7. I'd be interested in doing a 24 hour scenario, but I don't finish exams until around the 7th of June, so if that's inconvenient I'll just do a quick scenario separate from the contest.
  8. I won't be starting on it for a while (exams coming up sadly), but just drawing the terrain views with openGL seems sensible. Are there any features that the views should gain? I can see zooming in/out would be nice, but anything else?
  9. Are there currently any plans to move the editor's graphics rendering over to OpenGL? Would certainly make it easier to get nice zooming / resizing of the view etc. done (or so I'd think). If no one's doing anything I'd be interested having a go at tackling that (though I have no great experience with opengl). Will you be eventually moving the os x version over to cocoa?
  10. Maybe he didn't work out that it was turn-based Did he actually finish the game?
  11. Another way you could do it is to make your party indestructible in the scripts (essentially godmode): set_char_unkillable(1000,1)
  12. Yeah, I wasn't too sure about some of the creations though - I think I'll shrink them down a bit, they seem a bit out of proportion otherwise.
  13. Currently I'm aiming for 6 towns and one outdoor section; all I've got done so far is the basic layout for the first town and the outdoors. I'm not too sure as to what to do about creation graphics - I'm doubtful as to how well the standard GF ones fit in with the BoA graphics. Any suggestions?
  14. I thought I might as well try to use the features of BoA - I'm not going to refuse to use, say, hills just because there aren't any in Geneforge. It seems like it's really not worth doing creations, so I won't bother trying.
  15. Thanks for all the comments. I've got an editor-related question now - is it at all possible to change the outdoor cliff graphics? edit: managed to sort it out, I was trying to replace the wrong graphics sheet.
  16. I got BoA a while back (after playing Nethergate, I couldn't stand the engine before that) and started on a small scenario (which I gave up on). Now, what with GF5 now out, I feel like making a GF-inspired scenario. I got the impression that Geneforge isn't so popular with BoAers, but I've got an idea (not a great one, I'll admit) for such a scenario, and I'd like to ask a couple of questions. Would you actually have any interest in a scenario set in the GF world? As a first scenario, it would be pretty small, and I probably wouldn't bother adding real creation making, or much in the way of custom spells. Would that put you off it further (i.e., is it felt that if a scenario's GF-related, it should be done properly, or would it be ok if, say, you were a Trakovite agent and hence had no creations)? Hopefully that wasn't too incoherent, thanks in advance.
  17. I'm pretty sure Jeff said in the last thread that it takes up the whole screen.

  19. Ah, MicroPhage replaced the cryodrayk with Shaper Monarch (he actually appears about halfway through GF4), but couldn't replace the picture in the creation selection screen.
  20. I might be misinterpreting your question, but shaper monarch is a shaper, not a drayk, so his graphic will of course be of a robed shaper.
  21. When any extra beta testers are needed, a notice generally goes up at http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/newstuff.shtml .
  22. Access to shaping vats for producing more powerful creations (and perhaps even serviles) would be nice.
  23. The Drakons have essentially been using much more advanced technology than the Shapers - this has to balance out any difference in resources. In G1, the Shapers had the same microscope technology as the Drakons, anyway.
  24. 'Superiority' is surely a case of what you define it to be. If it's in terms of achievements as a species/group, then the humans or Shapers are superior. Even during GF2-4 (giving them a similar time period to work over) humans/Shapers have made the biggest advances in Shaping. The Drakons are simply refining an exisiting model with the Unbound etc. Even Shapers who learn their magic and other abilities can reach a level similar to a Drakon, and the Drakon is relying on the fact that it was made for the purpose of fighting/magicking/shaping. This implies greater discipline in Shapers (and perhaps a greater intelligence shown in a greater ability to learn).
