Try using a speed scroll before triggering the fight with him. That way you should be able to almost kill him before anything nasty happens. This worked for me with a blademaster, shaman, and sorceress.

I was worried it might when I began the game. But I don't think so, know that I've finished playing.
I would like to be able to click the tab key to bring up the mini-map, and then click on some area of it to bring the camera there. Instead we have to scroll the entire distance.

No, Av2 just isn't gonna cut it, I still read it as avernum
You'll learn.

Got greedy with those bribes?
Redbeard pardoned the Honored-forge clan and Chail. So I let them live for the good of the pact
This topic comes up for every game.
Does anyone have access to the end game text? I would like to read all the variants.
Jeff should just stick a text file in the game folder. There are a lot of people that wont be playing through multiple times, but would like to see how things would have turned out if things were done differently.
Stunning Bash for some reason almost never stuns. What's up with that?
Well, on Torment any way.
The sorceress's ability to absorb magic and use abilities faster is great. By the end game I could use the cone of ice scarab every turn and do roughly 140 damage on each NPC.
I would have really appreciated an end-game warning message prior to entering the caves under Castle Vebeaux.
Jeff does tell us that we should change scarabs, and retrieve any lost companions, but I didn't clue in that he also meant we could no longer finish any outstanding quests.
When I faced Redbeard I had a lot of unfinished quests I really wanted to do. I play these games with quick-saves so I never have any older saves. Yes, that is my own fault, but I would still have appreciated a stronger warning.

What is the reason for the statement I bolded? I realize this is a spoiler request -- is this because if I have completed all of their personal quests I can recruit them to help kill Redbeard at the end? I am just guessing at this because of a few things I have seen scattered around the forum.
I decided early on that Jenell and Sevilin would be my permanent team, so I'm wondering if that cuts off a major plot option.
I've left Shima and Sevilin in the clothes they started the game with. I hope that doesn't turn out to be a bad idea.

Finally, an AIMHack that I would play! wait...
Why don't we just go play some variant of paint-ball.
