Download the newest version of Geneforge 2 from our website. It should run fine.

You never mention what version of Avadon you are playing. I did fix some stuff with this when I updated to v1.0.1, and, looking at the script, it should only be possible to summon the basilisks once.

@matthoppy: "Will this patch fix the Aid Shavon Quest bug?"
Probably not. I'm not sure what this bug is. Perhaps someone could send a detailed description to support@spiderwebsoftware.com.
@Turtle: I'm not sure why your performance is so poor. The game uses the same code base as v1.0.1, which has not had widespread problems. However, v1.0.3 uses Apple's newer code base (and v1.0 doesn't), so there might be some damaged file on your system that keeps it from running correctly. I'm honestly not sure what would help besides an OS update.

I'm hoping to have the Windows version out within a month.
Full-on beta testing of the iPad version will start soon, so I'm hoping within 3 months.

We have prepared a public beta of the next version of Avadon: The Black Fortress for Macintosh. The next version will be v1.0.3. It can be downloaded here ...
[v1.0.3 has been released. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback!]
and the version history is here ...
v1.0.2 - Skipped this version number due to our own error.
v1.0.3
* Dialogue text is now larger.
* There is now an option on the Settings screen to make most other game text larger as well.
* The Use Ability button is now inactive when it needs to be.
* Several key characters will no longer repeat their dialogue when they shouldn't.
* Many small corrections and typo fixes.
Please feel free to try it out and let me know how it works. Even just being told that everything runs fine helps. You can let us know at support@spiderwebsoftware.com.

This is a problem in PowerPC Macs. We're looking at a way to fix it for the next update. Sorry for the confusion!

This will be made more clear in an upcoming update. The trap door is only there when a certain character has been chased to there. Until she arrives, it's hidden.

Apple does not allow App Store applications (Mac or iOS) to be modified by anyone but the developer. Code is baked in to prevent any altered or corrupt application from launching.
The v1.0.2 thing is a mistake on my part. Should have been v1.0.1. I screwed up, and the App Store version will always be ..1 ahead of the other versions.

And thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will add a note to the support page to clear up this (admittedly confusing) issue.
And thank you for buying Avadon! I hope you enjoy it!

" the choice eventually comes down to flipping coins and rolling dice."
No. This has never happened.
The choice comes down to who can write a clear and coherent application with full, grammatical sentences. This happens less often than you might think. Doesn't have to be impeccable, but it does have to be clear.

The App Store version and our version are different programs for different systems, so not everything they do will always be compatible. I'm glad you were able to work around the situation, but some things are forced onto us by Apple's requirements. Copying over the saved games as you did should work fine.
Talk to Zhethron to learn where to go next, and that area will appear on your world map.

Which game is this for?

This is bug, and I've already fixed it. (And I did respond to the thread in which it was first reported. Fixed in v1.0.2.

You may want to copy over from the hint book cheat code list the warning about what using these codes will do for getting medals.
- Jeff Vogel
-
Killing Redbeard will give you that medal no matter what you told him. Unless, perhaps, you used a cheat code in the process of picking up your party and fighting him.
- Jeff Vogel

Thanks for posting about this. There was a problem which caused this quest to become repeatable (and which would mess up doing the second part). It will be fixed in the next update.
- Jeff Vogel
-
The Nathalie and Sevilin issues will be fixed in the next update.
If people find dialogue inconsistencies like these, I will totally fix them. The more specific you are about where you are when they happen, the better. For example, I wasn't able to find that Holklandan issue.
- Jeff Vogel
-
I believe so. Cheat codes only invalidate medals for the "Kill this enemy" medals.

You need to play the entire game at a difficulty to get credit for playing it on that difficulty.

I suspect one of your game's graphics files has become corrupted. Throw away your copy, download a fresh copy from our web site, and install. If that still doesn't help, go back to a saved game from before entering that zone.

The update has been released, so just get it from the main Avadon page.
- Jeff Vogel

Thanks for the note. The 'a' button bug will be fixed in the next update.
You can't switch applications when OpenGL is running in full screen mode. This is something that is completely out of my control. To switch applications, you need to play in a window.

v1.0.1 has now been officially released. Thank you everyone for the feedback! I am unstickying this thread.

Avernum 6 For Macintosh, v1.1 Public Beta (Update 5-11-2011)
in Second Avernum Trilogy
Posted
(Edit 4-21-2011: We released a second candidate. This newer version should display the colors on creatures and items correctly and no longer uses the keypad to make choices in conversation.)
(Edit 4-22-2011: We replaced a download that appeared to have become corrupted. We also fixed some problems with the graphics.)
(Edit 4-25-2011: Version 4 is out, fixing another subtle graphics problem. Engine updates are a huge pain. I'm hoping this is the last update.)
(Edit 5-11-2011: Version 5 is out. It fixes a rare problem where, if the game was running for a while, missiles would stop working.)
We are working on a new version of Avernum 6 for the Macintosh, that uses Apple's Cocoa code base. What this means, in human language, is that it should run a bit faster and run on more future versions of the Apple OS. It's also far more suitable to be placed on the Mac App Store.
v1.1 public beta candidate 5 can be downloaded at
[We have concluded the beta and are releasing the product. Many thanks to everyone who helped!]
If you try it out, please drop us a note at support@spiderwebsoftware.com to let us know how it works. I am very interested. Thank you!
