Tenderfoot Thahd (2/17)

  1. Early in the game there was a room with a few monsters and 2 slimes. When I killed the slimes they divided into 4 or more each and mobbed the party. I couldn't beat them so I decided to come back later. But now that my party is strong enough to win I can't remember the location. Does anyone know the location I'm talking about? Thanks! (P.S. I don't think this is part of a significant quest, so if my description is too vague and nobody knows the location it's not a big deal. I'd prefer to beat these monsters but I don't have to.)
  2. Thank you all for the great advice. As an aside (although none of you had anything to do with this battle) it just doesn't seem well designed, which is why I wanted to skip it. It combines (1) a hard-hitting, nearly invulnerable enemy, (2) an enemy army that just gets bigger and bigger, and (3) a mechanic where if you make a mistake (i.e. let one of the shades get to Elderan so he heals himself) you have to start all over. It was like the mechanic wasn't to make it challenging, but to make it hard (especially with the "start over" mechanic). And that changed it from a game to work. No need to respond - it was just so frustrating that I wanted to write it down to get it out of my system. Thanks!
  3. I made it to Elderan as part of the quest, but fighting him is so tedious that I'm probably going to skip it and let him go on torturing people. Since I can't read his tomes until he's dead, does anyone know what they do? Thanks!
  4. Got it! Turns out I was accidentally making it harder than I had to. As you go down the hall, there's 1 of 2 special tiles you have to step on - one that looks like planks of wood and one that looks like an oriental rug. Stepping on the oriental one generates another demon and the wood one does nothing. The hall starts with two demons, so if you only step on wood there's only two demons to fight and clearing the hallway is easier.
  5. I used the teleporter to get to Erika's Tower and am working my way in. I got past the first leg where you flip a lever, the floor's set on fire, and you have to get past the gate at the end of the hall before it shuts. That was only blocked by a skeleton, so I could beat it before the gate shuts. I'm now on a leg where you flip a lever, the floor's full of ice, and you have to get past the gate at the end of the hall before it shuts. The problem is that the hall's blocked by 3 demons and by the time I beat them, the gate shuts. I looked for a button on the wall or something to bypass them but don't see anything. And I can't go back the way I came because I teleported there in the first place and there's no teleporter around. So I can't go forward or back, which makes the game unplayable. Could someone tell me if I'm missing something, or if the only way through is to beat the 3 demons before the gate shuts? Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the reply! In the midst of all the clicking, I found the papers and didn't notice. I went to the chest you talk about and got the "You can't understand any of it" message. So I went to the quest-giver and got credit, so apparently I had it all along. Thanks!
  7. This quest has you going into a Nepharim fortress northeast of Fort Duvno to find evidence of collusion with the Empire. I've wiped everything out and been through every square inch (including two areas that are accessible after hitting a wall button) but can't find it. I have opened some boxes that are full of scrolls but it says "You can't understand any of it". Is this where it's supposed to be, and I need more Cave or Arcane Lore? Thanks!
