Okay, so I finally worked out how to pass it thanks to the comments in this thread, but had to go back to an autosaved game because it wouldn't work unless I did it from scratch. God, I hate these really lame, pointless puzzles: it really kills a lot of the fun of the game.

Thanks for the response. I realised that about the different words appearing - but I'm still dead stuck on which ones I'm actually supposed to press. Any idea?

Aaah, thank you. I knew I was missing something obvious.

I reached the point where Anaximander says he's given my party the amulet to return to Fort Emergence instantly, but when I went to find it...I couldn't find it anywhere. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
