Is there any way to play Geneforge 1 without all the stuttering?

i managed to sorta fix it thx to this comment http://spiderwebforums.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/17549-avernum-4-mouse-hitching-problem/#entry232161 its not perfect, still some stutters but nowhere near as much as before. its actually playable and im enjoying the [censored] out of it now! -
I tried it a bit, I loved that it gave me the same feeling as Avernum: EftP. However, aside from the passive stuttering, if there are more than 3 units on screen, the stuttering becomes so unbearable I cant select a unit, a dialogue option, or move the map camera. I would really like to play this game despite its archaic UI but currently im unable to. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

OK so i went and found the last brooch at pyrogs (which was hidden pretty well) and went to the location and it worked. idk why or how dont care

im talking to erika now and quote "Once you reach the end you wil find a platform sourrounded by lava. Step on it and I will to you and send you to your destiny. Be sure that you are well prepared." So im guessing she refers to the place in the photos, but i went there and nothing happens.

Im actually stuck just before teleporting from Avernum to go kill Hawthorne. Location: Text about being stuck: I dont know what else to do. I have 4/5 brooches, ive returned Khoths scroll and he taught me the incantation which i used in the barriers earlier. Ive talked to literally every npc across the continent. Pls someone help me i love this game i dont want it to end like this.
