  1. Assuming that you're well on your way... You've chosen the first in a series of ten interconnected Scenarios which cover a 5,000 year history of a 'World' created by Alcritas, who is quite probably the most acclaimed of ALL the Authors in the BoE realm. I.M.N.S.H.O. You could not have begun in a better place. Each of the Scenarios is written in a different style and the set carries numerous ethical subjects. You may want to keep all the notes you make, too. You may come across something in a scenario that references something in an earlier one. If you run into trouble along the line, don't hesitate to ask this Board; no question is too difficult to answer except for, "Which one is the Best?" Stick with them; the rewards are even greater than the journey. me
  2. As the song says, I had been looking in all the wrong places. I guess I was looking for a more obvious list as some of the other attributes are listed. Sylae sent a really great link to the "Items Appendix". (See the response above) I've made a bunch of separate lists and forms to use while working through scenarios and had simply overlooked where this one was located; probably was just one of those "geriatric things". ;^} Thanks to you both me
  3. 1.) You're correct that Gemini never joins. However, she is a source of information about several Quests, AND she can/will be found in several locations. 2.) As to the NPC's you can have in your Party, Al created seven characters that are affected by the "Max 4" limitation, they are: Ajax, Alanaha, Byrne, Diomed, Krug, Ralkan and Raven. Due to the different abilities, the preference would depend upon the Player's style of play. If you want, I can give you the specifics of each of these seven NPC's Silnos and Tranosss are not affected by the "Max 4" rule so you should have the four you prefer before you have the opportunity to add these. Two others, Pharijin and Emilia, will join automatically for a game specific purpose and then they will, just as automatically, leave. ( My personal choices were: Diomed, Krug, Byrne and Ajax. I believe that "the best defense is a strong offense" and the others were too easily damaged and thus, killed.) Question(s): Do you know what the five "Legendary Artifacts" are? Do you know that the Rune Sword can, (with a lot of luck) reach five levels? Do you know there are seven Special Spells? How about Special Items, such as: Fangs, three Keys, four Books and the five levels of the Rune Sword? Did you complete the "Scavenger Hunt? Did you purchase the five items in the Auction House? Did you do the five Dispatches for the "Nordaker Express"? Did you purchase the three Properties? Were you evaluated by the "Image Consultant"? Did you find three locations for "Weapon Enhancement"? Did you read six version of the "News Slip" from the Newsboy? There are several other minor "Tasks" but they are mostly involved with the Major "Tasks". I remembered one other "Side Quest" that you may find interesting. When you are in Genovan's Armory, ask him about "Cursed" items. Still here, me P.S. I'm sure that there are numerous Players that would agree with me, but this has to be my personal favorite Scenario; not only because of all the Tasks and Quests, but there are so many "Realities" in these "Fables" created by Alcritas.
  4. 1.) First, you should know that you can only have four NPC's added to your Party. Yes, Ralkan counts, but IMNSHO he is/was not one of my choices because he's not as effective as some of the others. (I assume you know who all the NPC's are, no? If you don't, say so and I'll list them and their attributes for you.) Also, realize that once you have an NPC in your Party, the only way to get rid of it so you can add another is for the first NPC to die. 2.) As to the Ettin; as stated above by Tevildo, do the Mushroom Cave, et al, before you try to finish Rokig Kodar. Konax Minoc is part of your reward fo completing that Quest and, I believe, "Manditory" to accomplish it. Konax Minoc is a "Giant Killer" and the Ettin is afraid of it. IIRC the Ettin will hide toward the northwest when you enter his domain. Skirt around the east and southeast to access the hole to the lower level. With some (Major) assistance, you should then be able to defeat it.
  5. 1.) Did you visit the Training area? 2.) Did you add Homer to your Party? 3.) Did you receive Missions from Clara's daughter, Bonnie? 4.) Did you acquire Common Unicorn Horns and the Golden Unicorn Horn? 5.) Did you find the 'Lost Boys'? 6.) Did you acquire the 'Little Brown Pups? 7.) Did you find the Recipe Book, (requires finding all 5 pages with recipes)? 8.) If so, did you find all the Ingredients for the Recipes? 9.) Did you accomplish the Quest to join the Fighters' Guild? 10.) Did you accomplish the Quest to join the Mages' Guild? 11.) Did you accomplish the Quest to join the Priests' Guild? 12.) Did you accomplish the Quest to join the Thieves' Guild? 13.) Did you create a 'Familiar'? 14.) Did you find the 'Dead Man's Poppy'? 15.) Did you attempt the Owaji Championship? 16.) Did you accomplish the 'Memories of a Murder'? 17.) Did you accomplish the 'Search for a Little Girl'? 18.) Did you accomplish the Quest for Viagra? 19.) Did you accomplish the 'Black Market' task? 20.) Did you accomplish the 'Field Trip' task? 21,) Did you accomplish the Quest for the 'Hydra Egg Noodle Soup'? 22.) Did you accomplish the Quest for 'Professor Marvelus' Traveling Chest? 23.) Did you accomplish the 'Three Heads are better than one' task? 24.) Did you accomplish the 'Greenball Express' task? 25.) Did you accomplish the 'New Sanctuary' task? 26.) Did you accomplish the 'Gumbies make good Scarecrows' task? 27.) Did you accomplish the 'Grandfather's Secret Stash' task? 28.) Did you accomplish the 'Lost Treasure of Marcus Bagarnis III'? 29.) Did you accomplish the 'Burrower Beast Infestation' task? 30.) Did you accomplish the 'Quintus find Religion' task? 31.) Did you accomplish the 'Virgil's Tower' task? 32.) You will learn about 'Uncle Shamus' when you search Lucivius' Manor. 33.) Did you accomplish the 'Demon down under' task? 34.) Did you accomplish the 'Monster in the Lake' task? 35.) Did you accomplish the 'Poppin' Fresh Doughboys' task? 36.) Did you accomplish the 'When Treasure Chests Attack' task? 37.) Did you vist, and play, at the 'Press Your Luck Show'? 38.) Did you accomplish the 'Scavenger Hunt', (12 Items)? There are numerous 'Trainers' and 'Augmenters' throughout the Scenario and I shouldn't tell you these two items as they are part of the Scenario, (I assume for Literary Color), but... A.) The Hobbling Arts & Crafts Fair in Halmeni Mountains, near Lake Pentaglas & Magestica never opens. It is an item added to the Scenario for ‘Literary Color’. B.) The eventual Gumby Sanctuary, although resolved for the sake of the Story Line, won’t be completed within this Scenario I told you I'm a bit "Chatty". ;^} Hopefully, this list will give you a few ideas. If you need the specifics, let me know which ones. me
  6. * Note: I'm pretty "Chatty" so please excuse the long response. First, do ALL those areas that you haven't started/completed. If you're new to these games I'd like to suggest that in literally ALL Scenarios, you should investigate absolutely everything; Outdoor Sectors, Towns, Buildings, etc. Most Authors scatter objects and hints around. Other than completing the Main Objective, that's the "Game" of the Scenario. Second, In my retirement years, I've been making Walk-Throughs for Scenarios and making repairs to ones that are 'Flawed'. I originally had intended to give away these Walk-Throughs, but as I did more and more, I realized that would be undermining the purpose of what the Authors had done and would really defeat the object of playing them. So, for now at least, I'll simply watch this board and answer any questions I can. As to the Scenario, 'AC-3'. It would be a big help in understanding what you're supposed to be doing in this Scenario if you had played AC-1 and AC-2 first. These Scenarios are 'linked' in their Story-Lines. There are, basically, 28 Quests in this Scenairo and several are quite 'involved' and interlinked, much less quite difficult. Finding Uncle Shamus is a relatively minor quest and if you truly want to know how this Quest works out, I'll tell you, but I STRONGLY suggest that you dig much more deeply into the Story-Line by investigating everything you can. One last item: If you are 'New' to these Scenarios, you should know that this is the LARGEST Scenario that there is and it involves a LOT of playing time and at least a moderate amount of experience with these Scenarios. And, if you are new to these Scenarios, I'd suggest that you Save this one, set it aside and play a few easier ones to get a "Feel" as to how they work. They are not the typical "Shoot-em-up" type, but rather they generally take a lot of puzzle solving. Again, if you really want to know how to accomplish something in this Scenario, just say so and I'll let you know. me
  7. There are nearly 300 Scenairos you can download and a great many will satisfy your request. Kelandon has listed several of the better known and respected Authors. If you are seriously interested in playing these Scenarios for any length of time, "True Site for Blades" is undoubtedly the right place to download not only ALL the Scenarios, but peripheral items, too. Not only will you find all the Scenarios, but also a great variety of graphics of NPC's, miscellaneous Items and links to other sites, including Reviews of many Scenarios. This is probably the best way to determine which Scenarios you might want to play. With the updated, "Classic" version of the overall program, access to the Editor gives you the ability to find ALL the information about a Scenario. This allows you to find what you cannot find under 'normal' playing conditions, AND to determine whether a "Problem" you're having is yours, or if there is a "Flaw" in the Editing of the Scenario. (Note: Most Scenarios work just fine, but you should know that there are some that are "Flawed" and cannot be played. Repairing those and making "Walk-Throughs" is what I've decided to make as my 'Hobby' in my retirement years.) Lastly, if you seriously like playing these Scenarios and expect to do so for some time to come, I'd recommend you create a new Folder and download all the Scenarios and peripherals into it. Then have at it! And... remember that there are still quite a few people out here that are stil around and quite probably will be for a long time. me
  8. Oh, mai, gawd! That is absolutely beautiful. All my 'lists' are individual, including lists of Items, spells, etc. with a column for where they can be found in a Scenario, should the Player/Party choose to keep the information. I do as I make a Walk-Through. I've been hoping that eventually the Editor will be posted as a single 'Document' like the Original was. I've re-organized the Original a bit and am still using it as my Reference Material. I keep all these Documents, including the Editor, in a Three-Ring Binder. Let senility catch someone else. ;^} Again, thanx a bunch! P.S. My aged eyes see your skies; they're a perfect fit for my woods and 'critters'.
  9. I've made, and regularly use, quite a few Forms and Lists associated with the Editor and Scenarios but haven't been able to find an actual List of the possible Enchantments for Items. For instance, enchanting a Sword to be a Flaming Weapon, or a Necklace to Bless. I have found a reference here or there, but not an actual List like the ones for Alchemy, Spells, etc. Does anyone know where I could find this information? Thanks, me
  10. P.S. I went back to take a quick look at the documentation, (I have a three-ring binder full of BoE "Stuff"), and found that in the Original Documentation there is a Node, (AFFECT PC/PARTY SPECIALS), listed as: Type 98: Affect Statistic. The list, by number, of all the PC Statistics is included. me
  11. This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but lists of everything are found within the Editor documentation itself; Alchemy, Spells, etc. The statistics are numbered from "Strength = 0" to "Luck = 18". So, the Number to enter for "Mage Lore" would be "11". Hope this helps. me
  12. F.W.I.W. "A Band of Wanderers" was the first Scenario I made a "Walk-Through" for, (07 Jan 06) That's where these quotes came from. me
  13. Hi again, Did you ask the word, "dead"? This is what I think you missed: Return to Walden. Take the Ferry to Devar, then return to the Wanderer’s Camp to speak with Tomas. Ask, “Task”. He says, “You did a wonderful job of rescuing young Terr. But you have acquired a new Task in your travels. I have met with the Slith Chieftain and done some research. It seems the Empire did not destroy an Altar in Trent that summons the dead.” Ask, “Dead”. He Says, “Well done. You are true Warriors and full members of our Camp. You have improved relations with our neighbors and rescued a helpless Cub. Well done. Your tasks have ended.” If/when you are at an impass, click on every word, deliberately. This is also a good way to play regularly. I've found that there are times I've found 'links' that I might have passed by. Also... I don't think I'm "awesome", nor will I ever be. I'm just an old codger with way too much time on my hands. Years ago, our middle son, (will be 46 in May), was really involved in D&D with books and dice. Also, our oldest son, (will be 48 in October), was running 'boards on a C'64. I just happened to be around to gain some knowledge from them. Sometimes, parents do that, you know. Learning can be a two-way street. ;^} There are some really great Authors to these 'games'; stay with them and you'll see what I mean. be well, me
  14. Hi, It looks like you missed "Spidy". This is what I have 'on file'... 07, 11: Sign: Giant Intelligent Talking Spider. SPIDY. “I want to go home.” Ask, “Home”. She says, “I got lost and these cute Humans stopped to help me.” Ask, “Help”. She says, “Please pick me up and then go to the back of the Circus. That’s where all the Humans live and TERR is there, too. I can make the Guards not notice you going in.” Click on “Pick”. She says, “We should leave now.” Click on “Leave”. With Spidy hidden under your Cloak, you step over the Runes and head for the back of the Circus. 32&33, 20: Doors to the Backstage Area. Sign: Circus Employees Only! Hope this is what you're looking for, If you need more, or something else, yes, someone else has played, and saved, the info. ;^} me
  15. Thanks, especially for the quick reply. me
  16. The Editor has several 'Drop-Down' 'Dumps'; Text, Data, Monsters, etc. and I am MOST appreciative of these features. However, I have never found a 'Drop-Down' for the Conversation Nodes. Because these Nodes have many of the features as do the conventional Editor Nodes I often need to search through them one-at-a-time and would LOVE to see a 'Drop-Down' similar to the others. Is there a method to do this already and I don't see it, and/or is it practical to create another 'Drop-Down' for this? many thanks, me
  17. In the early years of 'Blades of Exile' a young man named Tarl Roger Kudrik did some research of the Game and posted several documents for the Community. I have them on my computer, along with a LOT of other information, but no matter how I go about it, I cannot get the File to show up in a reply to you. The file, (updated *.txt to *.doc), I try to add to the reply just doesn't seem to "attach". I'm on a "Land Line" and although I waited a full five minutes for an eighty-four MS Word document to appear, it didn't, I just want to let you know the documents are "out there" somewhere. One of the documents that he made is the "Attributes" of a PC. He details what effects and affects each attribute has and the advantages/disadvantages for Human, Slith and Nephil characters. I don't know if there are any existing Sites that would have these documents, but If you cannot find them, let me know and I'll type the document into an E-mail, verbatum. Hope this is of some assistance, me
  18. For one, I like it and would use it, especially in a group of Empire Soldiers. The original "Empire Archer" looks more like it should be part of a band of Brigands, or someone from Sherwood Forest. I don't think 'hard', or 'soft' applies to any of the icons. I realize that it takes time and talent to create thes things. Sadly, I only have a lot of the latter. Hopefully this will show up in a few of the sites that collect such things. Also, hopefully, you'll create more. How about the same basic uniform for a Warrior with a single Great Sword, or two Short Swords? How about a semi-visible Thief with only a Knife? etc. etc. Again, thanks for the addition. me
  19. Not knowing what you feel is "Huge, Sprawling, Complex Dungeons... I'm in the middle of a Scenario titled, "Gathering Storm" by Janet Cone. In this one she has only used a few "Outdoor Sections", but has linked numerous "Towns" by "Stairway" Nodes. It was a bit confusing at first, but now that I'm into the Story-Line, I think it's a great concept. If you're trying to make something "Huge, Sprawling and Complex", how about using that concept to link multiple sections of only a few, dare I say, single, "OMG" Town? That's all from me; I wish you luck and will keep an eye out for what you create. me
  20. IMNSHO: A little ditty by *I entitled, "Spy's Quest" is undoubtedly the most difficult I've encountered. I'm only a mediocre player and in my old age I've been making Walk-Throughs as a hobby to keep my mind and hands occupied. I had tried it a long time ago and when I ran into a problem, *I answered that it was "buggy" and recommended I try one of his other Scenarios. Finally, when I did this Scenario I found a couple of "Flaws" that make it impossible to play through, but they are well into the Scenario, so if you're looking for some ideas, or inspiration, I strongly recommend this one. As I said, I'm not very good at the difficult ones, so I used my most powerful "God Party". *I states in the accompanying text file that it is probably the most difficult Scenario written for BoE and I wholeheartedly agree. "Spy's Quest" seems to be written strictly for the difficulty, but another of his Scenarios, "At the Gallows" is also long, involved and difficult, but seems to have a better Story-Line.
  21. A LOT of updating has been done to the Blades System and I, for one, am VERY thankful to all who have contributed to that end. The thing is... like so many projects, there never really is an 'end'. Other games and devices come along evey day and IMNSHO, I feel that a point has reached that has gone beyond the original concept of the Blades of Exile Game(s). I still play, and work with, the Blades Scenarios and, when writing Walk-Throughs, I use the 'ScenText' and 'ScenData' files for reference. I know that's only a small item in the greater scheme of things, but I'd like to see the Blades of Exile Original concept remain in its 'repaired', or 'updated' status. On the other hand, perhaps some of the ideas that are proposed here have a lot of merit. For instance, how about creating a whole new 'Blades of Exile II' system that would be written with modern programing and devices as a base? That would not only solve the desire to have Blades in modern language, but may very well draw in new younger enthusiasts as did the original Blades? Note that each game has it's own generation of players who, like that game, fade into obscurity. Years ago, our oldest son won an Arcade Machine of Asteroids. About a decade ago it finally went into the Recycling Center, (notice, 'Recycling Center', not 'Dump'.) I'll be 72 in a few weeks, have been playing and working with Blades for quite a while now and fully expect to continue for a long, long time. What has been done to 'clean up' the system is GREATLY appreciated. However, any ultra modernizing would be wasted on me and, probably, a lot of others. Again, I think the ideas presented here would probably be better utilized to create a newer, updated version and draw in newer, updated players. Thanx for listening, me
  22. Hi, I, duh, found it in the mail today; went back over it and saw that I used a "Y" where I should have used a "V". I don't know if it was one of those "geriatric moments", or just that I was in a hurry, probably the latter, but at around 6:00a today, it has been re-mailed. Sorry for the foul-up me
  23. To Miramor: I used the E-mail address included in your Scenario to send you a 'package'. If it doesn't come through, let me know. I thought it was a good Scenario and very welcome in a world that seems to have been passed by. ;^{ At this age, I'm getting used to it. ;^} Again, thanx, me
  24. Kids? At this age? ;^} Pretty much the same as above, but... If you have ideas about different sections of a Story-Line, have you actually made, or documented, the parts? Perhaps if you tell yourself that you don't want to lose this concept, or that you are only documenting the different sections with the idea of connecting them all together at a later date, that would at least give them "substance". It sounds to me like you are suffering from "writer's block" which can occur to anyone about any subject You might well find that once you see this collection of "parts" it will entice you to assemble them. Whether or not you continue to fill in the empty spaces, for now, is not important. What seems to me to be important is that you actually document the ideas rather than lose them. I'll never be an author, but there are things in my life, just as there are in everyone's life that I procrastinate about. Eventually, I'll get into the job and it invariably ends up as something simple and, usually, enjoyable. Let it sit for a few days and then look at it from a different angle and when you're ready, "git 'er done". After all, you started it because you enjoy this stuff. ;^} me
