I vote no because there is a lot of other things that the $2000 can go towards rather than "accommodate[ing] this expectation" that you need to run Linux. That's like buying a MBP just cause you want to hang with Mac kids at the parties. Its just not something that I can easily justify for myself or my financial dependents. If you do feel that a desk top is worth getting, I recomend that you build one and for 2 grand you can build a nice one. From personal experience, a computer that costs X dollars is superior to a same costing pre-built computer (HP, Dell, ext.). The only part that worries some people about custom builds is the warranties, or lack there of.

I use to go house to house when I was a kid. In the area that I lived the mall also set up a huge store to store trick-o-treating in the safety of the mall itself. And then many other religious groups would have trunk-o-treating with their members in the churches parking lot. And the hospital provided free x-ray scanning of all candy that was brought to them that night. Oh, and it was normal to have to wear snow clothes over your Halloween costume.

The 6th is totally groovy for running away from zombies.

I have some stuff going on November 5th that will make me miss almost the whole session. But if that date works for everyone else then go with it.

You can use nVidia or ATI, but I know that some people prefer to match nVidia with Intel processors and ATI with AMD. Not something you have to do, but it is a thought.

Avernum: Escape from the Pit is being updated and remade. It should be out for Mac is November-Decemberish, and for Windows in early spring. Its a a remake of the first game Spiderweb published I think. It might be worth trying when its done.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am excited for the next session.

Every three days when I do dishes I find that in my house we have used twice as many spoons then forks every time. Maybe we just eat a lot of marshmallow maties, I don't know, but we are always running out of spoons.

This was one of my favorit threads to keep up with because it mainly focused on saying "I just/am read/reading this book." I use this to find new books to read that I dought I would find on my own. Right now I am trudging away through Dante's Inferno. I think it kinda sucks, but not enough for me to stop reading.

My school does not allow the reuse of passwords. And they suggest ones like ASDF760SAD&*^*-O*D&SFgo to be your password and then tell you to memories it, never writing it down. Sometimes I feel that security and stupidity are mistaken for the same thing here.
