  1. I don't know about well-known, but someone did find it back in 2010. https://spiderwebforums.ipbhost.com/topic/9166-name-cameos-in-jeffs-games/page/4/#comment-164381
  2. You're correct that it was designed and released for Macs first. But Chocobozpwn was talking about the PC release of Exile 3, so I pointed out the typical PC it was meant to run on at the time. I wasn't saying it was the first machine to run Exile 3.
  3. Exile 3 was designed for Windows 3.1/95, and it can run on some versions of Windows 7 with a bit of tinkering. However, Windows has changed since then, and Exile 3 was never updated. Fortunately, some people have come up with a solution: https://spiderwebforums.ipbhost.com/topic/25777-exile-fix-for-x64-windows/ I hope this works out for you.
  4. That's odd. The shareware version I played allowed you to finish a few of the plagues on the surface.
  5. "It’s never the person you most suspect. It’s also never the person you least suspect, since anyone with half a brain would suspect them the most. Therefore I know the killer to be... the person I most medium suspect." --Dwight Schrute
  6. You can create a new character in Exile 1 by playing the game. You have to go to the beginning of the game (Fort Exile) and walk into the special encounter in front of the portal. You'll get the option of creating a new character from scratch, as long as you have an empty slot. I can't find any menu option for creating a new character.
  7. The Priest Spells "Raise Dead" and "Resurrect" can bring back a dead party member. "Raise Dead" is in the Tower of Magi and "Resurrect" is in a monastery across the river from the Aranea City. You also need a Resurrection Balm. But since you just started, it'll probably be a long while before you can get these. You can't recruit an NPC to join your party in Exile. That's something that started in Avernum. I'd just go back to a previous save, but it's your game.
  8. When I open it, there's two files from 2005: "hpothb07.dat" which is one kilobyte and "hpothb07.tif" which is a tiny version of what looks like a sprite sheet of BoE party members. They are both flagged as hidden, though.

  10. Okay, I've beaten Morbo and the game. Is there someplace I can read or watch the ending for when you join Dorikas? Thanks!
  11. If it's physical, that's unfortunate, because Morbo charms you once you've hit him with a physical attack. So my priest has to cast unshackle mind + control foe + heal possible injuries. And she only has two turns with haste.
  12. I've been having trouble in Avernum 5 defeating Morbo under Muck. He seems to be impervious to everything. Using my fighters will just charm them and my mage and priest spells only make small dents. Someone suggested using control foe on Morbo's summons, but they don't seem to do any extra damage and often fight his other summons.
  13. Copy the URL of the image and paste it in your address bar.
  14. Andrew Hunter and Brian Snoddy are credited for art in Geneforge 1.
  15. IIRC, Exile didn't run in DOS, but ran under Windows 3.1 to XP.
  16. John, Ariel, Nathan, Samantha, Allison and Erik.
  17. Did you try PMing him? Although you did seem pretty lucky in that your first post got a response from him in a day, when he hadn't posted in over four years on the boards.
  18. I generally agree with your points, but I'd say it qualifies as art, since Duchamp's Fountain killed that sort of argument. But yeah, it's not art that's necessarily going to sell.
