I've talked to her and found the stairway down and the two other trapdoors in the Deeps - the SW trapdoor has a cave in - is that where I'm supposed to find my way through? I've been wandering around for hours

Totally stuck, don't know what I'm missing - can't get into the Southeast trapdoor for the life of me. The iron gate's not budging. Is there a hidden switch or did I screw everything up by letting the lost scouts die?
