  1. I found it worked quite well with just having one character move forward and stay at the very edges of the cave, use his bow to shoot one of the hostile critters, and then run back to my party to slaughter the previously mentioned hostile critters. After the hostile critters were dead, looting was proceeded to be done by buffing up one character as much as possible, loading him with fire resist gear, and navigating along the edges of the caves. Shouldn't be getting hit by more than two of the calderas venting at once that way.

  3. Technically speaking by the time you'd normally go past the guy you'd only be handling creations which wouldn't be too abnormal for an outsider to handle. That Geneforge isn't advanced enough to keep track of these things when you backtrack is obviously a bit weird, but you can basically assume each chapter to have it's own separate chronology, and that they're largely created along the principle that anything you do after the chapter you're currently in will generally not affect or be known by anyone in previous chapters.

Your computer doesn't do instant translation unless you're going through a special translation tool. That would be interesting in it's way. I'd be quite impressed by a piece of software that not only manages to properly translate everything, but includes any and all typos too in a manner appropriate to the language, and also translates any of the so called leet speak to one appropriate to the language.
  5. Yes, they are, they're basically female Drayks with an affinity of trees. They're rather sodden and miserable creations though, they keep getting depressed over accidentally burning the trees they try caring for.
  6. What's next, your guesstimating putting us at a perpetual tomorrow for the release date?

Alternatively it is also possible to play with the mirrors on that floor to get past the lasers, but I'd recommend doing it the normal way since it's less annoying than having to push mirrors through an area with constantly respawning golems.
  8. It's very possible to be using a 3D engine and still offer a single isometric perspective. And I suspect it's going to start with that, basic engine along the lines of the one Geneforge uses, except with graphical effects and models making use of fancy 3D tricks.

Hapless started out as pitifully weak as you'd imagine but quickly got very powerful indeed since he was gaining experience at extremely high rates, while Avatar started off quite strong but lost out in the on getting stronger since he gained far less skill points than Hapless ever did over the same amount of gameplay. And if you're trying to be a party all by yourself, you want skill points.
  10. It could be that if you never spoke to Empress Prazac (Or at least, didn't accept her mission) you also wouldn't get rescued? I'm unsure how you'd get into Footracer Province if you'd never done so though...
  11. Attacking definitely only cost 5 action points in Geneforge 4's Windows version as well. It just cost all your remaining action points as well if you didn't have enough action points to make a second attack, which is why you should always use your items first and your normal attacks second.
  12. Magery is (I think) for all spells. As I recall the Drake's boon is giving the Blademaster ability to all your characters, Blademaster is basically Magery for melee.
  13. One piece is in Benerii-Uss Shaping, the second in Benerii-Uss Holding and the final in the Geneforge area. I'd recommend checking Schrodinger\'s FAQ if you need more detailed descriptions for finding the pieces.
  14. You can go for full keyboard control with Avernum as well. Numpad for movement with the alphabetical keys for various quick talk, get, etc. buttons. Geneforge, on the other hand, does need a mouse to play. More on the subject, I should still have the original Exile on a floppy disk somewhere, now if only my computer still had a floppy disk drive...
  15. Crescent Stones drop from Crescent Thahds in the more desolate areas of western Sucia Island. You might've missed them dropping these as the Crescent Stones look just like any other stone does.

Their efforts failed however, and the blade was broken into three seperate pieces, one piece taken by the nefarious Cheeseball, one by the Not-All-That-Dark-But-Not-Quite-Light-Either Slithzerikai, and one by the Leech Drat. Can you recover Chitrachslayer and imprison the Chitrach Lord Argh-Hot once more?"
  17. Just a curiosity thing, but what's with all the suggestion topics always containing people saying "I hope it'll be an MMORPG!", it's been going on for as long as I've been lurking around here, and I've been lurking a good while. MMORPGs aren't some kind of magical band-aid fix-it-all this'll be awesome, in fact, they tend to be the opposite. There are many good MMORPGs and many more very bad MMORPGs, and while you could probably convert the Exile/Avernum setting to one, I don't think it'd really add anything to the games. Adding multiplayer to games that don't need it really just means you get something that isn't any good at all. Not to mention you're basically diverging into a different genre. Making an MMORPG isn't as simple as taking an RPG and than adding online capabilities. It's much like suggesting the next Exile game should be a first person shooter.

Not to mention it nicely sets up the storyline for a few different conclusions. The Shapers know the Rebels can unleash something pretty horrible through shaping, the (non-drakon) Rebels know they want to win, but don't want go quite that far. Than we get a PC being able to choose a fair amount of different possibilities. Will you bring peace between the Rebels and the Shapers? Will you help the Drakons survive on their own and help them make a new Unbound? Do you help the Shapers subdue the Rebellion at any cost?
  19. I'd just like to add that I approve Chicken's being linked to T-Rexes.

    A3 -

It could be that thre option of the Vahnatai isn't unlocked unless you also have the evidence of the slime plague, so if you haven't, poke around a bit in the part where the Alien Slime was, it might help. Though I guess being able to speak to Erika also means you have that evidence, in which case I'm rather puzzled.
  21. 100 MHz computers are just too plain slow to run any of the Avernum games, Nethergate or Geneforge. This is quite simply due to the fact that these games use more different graphics at the same time then any of the Exile games ever do.
  22. I've actually had the a variation on the invisible enemies thing, only in my case it was more like duplicate enemies. In my case I'm talking about the Windows version, oh well I'll just E-Mail it to Jeff.
  23. Jenneke is actually a normal girls name in the country I live in, so he/she could very well be a girl. [edit] It's pronounced Yeh-nuh-kuh, in case anyone cares. [/edit]
  24. That's because he's actually just got a few tape players installed which play his voice when someone walks past. Yeah.
  25. Try turning on some of the options under "For older machines" in the preferences. It should help reduce these problems. (Note that only Exile 3 has the "For older Machines" thing, but if you check the preferences in Exile 3 you should get a basic idea of what to turn off in Exile and Exile 2.)
