Tenderfoot Thahd (2/17)

  1. Eh, Ceowulf, careful using the B word. I got edited for a less offensive word. I understand what you mean, though. Drawing a grid and naming squares was what got me in to gaming. When windows rolled out, I used to make adventure games with word and hyperlinks. Strange days. Can't say whether I prefer the more modern gaming or the old. The modern does strip out some of the fun of figuring it out on your own, but you can get down to tin tacks on the meat of the game.
  2. Oh yeah, A:EftP was a definite improvement, although you could see the glimmer of bling in the older versions. They just wore it on their toes or something, and Avernum is cold, you need to cover up warm. Trouble was, there's always bling in first drafts. I'd love to pinpoint what the problems were in earlier games and detail the specific improvements. From where I stand here on this really strange, high, tall horse... wait a minute, how did I get up here. Lemme get my soap box. *Jumps on soapbox* From what I see there's an ease of use for A:EftP, although I do miss exploring to find walls that parted like blue jelly and let me discover secrets on the other side. I also found the character creation to be better than its sisters, like Maiar said. And even though A: EftP is still wordy, its not as much a Shakespearian dissertation as an over-talkative checkout chick. Thoughts?
  3. Oh my Gosh, I am so sorry, I didn't even think. Thank you for the edit.
  4. I experimented on Drath. He didn't much appreciate it, silly man. I deliberately read the book before I killed him, then I went and got the quest to pick up his library book. Cause some chaps have been moaning about how they couldn't read the book and finish the quest. Well, turns out you can get Drath's special sauce. Just read it before you get the quest and come back later. May be a bug. Perhaps Drath is really an ex-College Rastafarian. His dreads flopped off when he died and so that's why he's so grumpity.
  5. Really? I thought Drath seemed more of the hippy 'my sweat is good for me', type. Well, the more you know. *grins at Stranger* Yes? I'm not sure I get your point.
  6. Thanks man, I just went and did that. Took a break of the game for about a month to work on a project, came back and had forgotten everything. I was wondering about the junk bag, too. I'll check it.
  7. That's the one. Found it on some undead waffling about on a lava-float. They looked happy enough for me to loot it from their dead corpses in the most disrespectful manner I could think of. I checked more than once for the item. I had no room in my pack at all. All I ended up with was a wand of alacrity I'd gotten somewhere more south. I think from the mad old man that'd been busy chatting up demons. Mind, it was when I'd gone in to explore a cave, I think it was khoth's crib, that it decided to tell me items were dropped at my feet. Only found the wand, though. When I picked up the cap it informed me that there wasn't any room in my pack, and the item dropped to the floor.
  8. Damn. Why did I have to miss out on all those awesome items? That undead leather cap sounded most sanitary and delightful. Or am I missing something?
  9. *Puts feet up* Awesome. I always play RPGs like I'm morally bipolar monkey. So that helps a lot. I'm liking the new version. Improved on exile. Slightly disappointed in some aspects, but that's always the way.
  10. Is it a nice option for something else, or just a lazy man's way out of a larger fight?
  11. Hey, wondering if anyone else is having trouble with dropped items not appearing if you enter Fort Draco via the warf.
