  1. After I finished the game, my response to this is that there is no need to reproof all the text. It has been well writtem and all mechanics of the English language were perfect based on my experience of the game.
  2. Before someone comes rushing in waiving the danger flag, jumping up and down, you can also break the game with a misplaced or missing comma or other typed keyboard character too. Keeping a backup copy of the files is important in case something goes wrong.
  3. Editing is primarily done with a text editor. Most of the game mechanics and the story itself runs on text that includes fairly simple code instructions and logic forks. Secondarily, you can design new looking items or change colors of existing items with a graphics app, as well as new looking characters for your party, but that takes more time. You can also create new sounds with an audio app. If you've played "Avadon 3 - The Warborn" using the Bovine mod you would see a full example of what could be accomplished.
  4. Yes. I modded after about an hour into the game. Nothing heavy yet but have modded quite a bit. Not making a Bovine Mod per se but have done some things. The methods are similar to previous games. Kudos to Jeff for that capability!! ❤️❤️❤️
  5. Nice game. Well written! I especially like the fact that the petty, petty things have been removed. Grabbing and searching for $1 and $3 items and junk on the floor was a big time waster. Thanks!
  6. The fact that it is dark there and the wall blocks most of the box from view, it is hard to see. Using the u key helps.
  7. I have a similar problem only a layer deeper. I have selected the vahnatai and spoken with everyone else, they all agree but the princess doesn't acknowledge it, have the weapon and no movement forward, and Erika agrees. Seemingly we have all missed a major point somewhere that allows movement forward. Those in The Tower don't say anything either.
  8. I have the key and there is no further discussion. He says he hopes I learn something with it, but the door says a key won't work.
  9. Any suggestions on the Energy elixir quest? I got into the library part way now I can't do any more. At least the door isn't cooperating and I can't find any other info. Thanks in advance!
  10. Good to know. Thanks. Have to revisit a bunch of places to see what I missed.
  11. I understand the contingent barriers. The game usually hints you can't break them. I finished the giant barriers. I'm not at a "place", I'm talking about a bunch of places that I have encountered. Above ground map mostly in the top third of it. Upper Avernum a few locations. So by your response there is no lvl 4?
  12. I seem to be blocked from places that demand a stronger power of Dispell Barrier higher than 3. I have 3 and the barriers complain that I need a higher level. Is there really a level 4 to be had somewhere (like where?) or is it secret code meaning I don't have some important component? My main mission seems to be stuck so I'm thinking these barriers may hold more information. Thanks in advance. Also thanks for a great game!! v1.0.1
  13. Or play the Bovine mod where there is no Rudow. I wrote him out of the story for the same reason.
  14. They are in many places besides VS. At the start of the game when you first walk into the common area of Camp Nightshade near the bovines you will see the "fruit" looking like pears. I have picked up 23 so far without getting one from VS. The secret is to start a game and always pick them up. You don't realize they are needed until you start the quest in VS so you tend to ignore them when looking over the graphic landscape prior to that point in time. They are most prevalent in green grass orchard-tended areas. Frequently with cows (bovines) nearby. They seem to be a settlement thing.
  15. A few teasers. The Companions of Khalida, Rudow and Silena are no longer in the Party. They have been replaced by three new members: Rhonda, Tove and Larissa. (With their own story lines.) There are new weapons, new items, a new companion type, new additional quests and some ancillary companions. :D
  16. Link to download: Ava3 Bovine mod The Read Me file: The Secret Bovine Society is a mod for "Avadon 3 - The Warborn" by Spiderweb Software © 2016. Mods are not supported by Spiderweb Software. As it was for Avadon 2, this mod was created for my own use to increase the entertainment level of the game AFTER I did several complete playthroughs. However this is not a small mod like it was in Av2. FYI: The game engine was not modified so the mechanics are the same. After reading Jeff's blogs on game creation, very inspirational I might add, I was energized to expand on this mod and do things I did not originally think about while playing the game. That being said, it still takes a long time to create an extensive mod because you don't know or have access to the code and data locked up inside the app. You have to use trial and error to see how the engine reacts to your ideas. You have to learn where the line is drawn and not to theorize about writing something on the other side of it because that is a private territory. To make a long story short, it's not a perfect project but I hope it is good enough to keep the Spiderweb family happy and "diverted" into the otherrealm to fill in the time until Jeff makes another game or more mods are made or both. There is so much potential for mods that I kept wandering off my missions and refocusing back to what my prime directive was. The primary goal for making this is to be swept away to another reality but stay lore-friendly. Start with an open mind because there are quite a few modifications. So far there is no guide or list of changes because I think the Aha! effect is an important part of the game and I want to maximize that. There will be some orientation in the beginning of the game. Please take the time to read the dialogues. Installation: After downloading and unzipping the project, there are two ways to install it. One way is to back up completely your folder named Resources (Mac) or Scripts (Windows) and then drag all of the files from the Bovine folder into your original folder and let the system replace the old files with the new ones. The second way is to just remove the duplicated files from your folder to another folder temporarily while playing the bovine mod so that none of your originals are erased. Then start a new game. This has been tested on three machines and three systems so far so any feedback would be welcome. Preferably privately to prevent spoilers. Thanks for your interest and thanks to Jeff Vogel for a great game that can be modded. (Hopefully more files can be pulled outside the app for more complex modding in the future ;-). ) P.S. I am not a graphic artist. All photo and artwork copyrights belong to their respective owners.
  17. Thank you-Thank you-Thank you!!!
