Geneforge graphics enhancement

Is this G1 only? Because I was going to mention that G3 Greta should have a ponytail and reddish hair like in the scene art of G4, along with a green tunic (though I would make her ponytail spikier and shorter *like-- chin length* and placed higher on her head to make her look younger. (And Alwan's chainmail should be bluish)

Question: How did you make the portrait/status art? Was it all made entirely in 2D paint programs, or did you make 3D renders with heaping helpings of postwork?

Oh, and the only things I don't like about that screenshot is that Esther doesn't have her green skin. :( Also, Dakro's skin is supposed to be rather pale (Alwan's should be a bit darker) Everything else looks truly awesome. (though another critique, Esther's neck is supposed to be a bit longer, and she has plumper/thicker lips. Greta's are a bit thicker as well, though not as thick as Esther's.) Also, Dakro is supposed to be in his early 20's (you can tell by his status portrait) except in G5 where he has a slight mustache.

Wait, also, what is that pale green cluster thingy in the third screenshot?

I hope you don't take my constructive criticism the wrong way-- I know some are really sensitive about it, and I confess it's not something I can empathize with as I always want constructive criticism for my art (and it only bothers me when it's not criticism, but rather insults) Also, uh... just so you know, I'm a lot pickier/whinier about my own art than that of other peoples' (I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my own stuff)

Also, I agree with the others, this has to be a nightmare as far as programming. Bravo.

Sorry to necro this but I'm having a problem installing this mod that no one's mentioned so far. I'm playing on the Mac version and it's the one sold on Good Old Games, and the graphics folder where I'm supposed to be putting the replacement images doesn't seem to exist. I've done the "show package contents" to get into the folder where the scripts and everything are, and instead of a graphics folder there's just this file that's one of those executable command prompt looking things that you cant do anything with and nothing will open. Am I screwed or is there something I can do? a file path to where this folder should be? a way to unpack and repack the seemingly opaque graphics file?

Spiderweb doesn't have anything to do with whatever compression or encapsulation schemes GOG uses.

They also can't provide support for player-made modifications and have made it clear that they don't want to act as tech support for them. They have been quite friendly towards player-made enhancement efforts despite this, so I would suggest not bugging them about stuff like this :)

Damn. I guess that's what I get for paying $5 for the whole series. I actually did buy the first three in the saga directly from Spiderweb back in the day when they first came out but I don't think I have any receipts for them stashed away somewhere to prove it if I begged Spiderweb's tech support for a serial number for the spiderweb version :( Then again they (he? is it still just The Jeff) though they/he was very good about it back then when I changed computers and needed a new code but that was a looooong time ago. I suppose I could be evil and crack it with a keygen, does it still count as piracy if I bought it legitimately first? Technically I even bought it twice lol.

Spiderweb does keep records of old orders and have always been very helpful if you want to get a newly registered copy of something you bought 10 or 15 years ago. Send them the old order info -- name, address, etc. So, THAT might be worth bugging them about :)

SW doesn't even get all of the $5 (or whatever) when you buy their games through a third-party service like GOG or Steam. But they are very good to their customers, and do appreciate people who buy directly.

^I can back up that statement. I bought both the GF3 and GF4 discs from Spiderweb Software, thinking that a physical copy of the game would ensure I don't lose it somehow. When I tried to install it on my Mac, it turns out that both discs required PowerPC, which was completely obsolete by the time I tried to install the games. I sent an email to Jeff about the problem, and he sent me a copy of the full versions of GF3 and GF4 that can be properly installed onto a Mac. Needless to say, I was very happy. :)

Hello, Windows user here: I'm interested in using this, but I'm really unclear on 'this' works. The instructions on top are supremely vague, and I don't have even an inkling of an idea of how any of this modding works. My apologies for wasting your time, but can someone PLEASE hold my hand through this?

I've been trying to port this to G2, but some changes are needed for some pics. The problem is that whenever I change a bmp for G2 (using Gimp), the in-game pic is corrupted. This didn't happen with G1, where I also changed some pics. I'm not even changing the palette in the files I'm trying to edit. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to do this, or the best program to use?

I believe that Geneforge 1 uses 256 colors, so make sure you export the image like that. Something like Paint .NET can do that and also handle transparency etc.

Thanks. Apparently, loading and saving the file with IrfanView fixes the issues, so I'm using Gimp + IrfanView.

For Geneforge 1, this is the floor from v2 (from ModDB), but to use with v1 (the link in this page).

It changes the paved floor (upper left corner), from this
