Rotghroth Rhapsody madrigan
Hello all, I tried downloading A3 three times and when I try to run the installer, I get an error saying that there is no application that can open the file. I tried changing the end of the filename to .app, as suggested on the Spiderweb site, but that didn't do it. This is in Mac OS 10.4.11. Any ideas? Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
"Get Info" on the installer and see if you can choose the installer itself as the application that will open it. Sometimes that works. Otherwise, try downloading the file from another mirror just in case you're getting a bad file. —Alorael, who isn't sure why OS X has trouble treating apps as apps. Kyshakk Koan La paix
You're not running Classic, are you? That sounds more like an error from older Macs. P.S. I realize that Classic no longer comes with Macs and that Apple has abandoned it.
Rotghroth Rhapsody madrigan
Hi everybody. The OS does not give me the option of opening the file with itself. I tried switching from Recommended Programs to All Programs, but it's still grayed out. Not 100% sure I know what you mean by "classic." Do you mean am I running a Mac Classic? Or a really old version of the OS? Or a Power PC based Mac? No to all.
Easygoing Eyebeast keira
I have no idea about macs and Jeff's games but I'm just going to throw this out because I read about it on the site somewhere. Intel.
Understated Ur-Drakon Tyranicus
Are you talking about the .bin file that you download from the Spiderweb site, or the installe app that is inside the .bin file. You can open the .bin file with an extraction program such as StuffIt Expander
Kyshakk Koan La paix
By Classic, I meant the Mac OS 9 Emulator found on older versions of Mac OS X. Wait a second...do you have an Intel Mac? I don't think the Trilogy can run on the newer Macs.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
The trilogy runs fine on Intel Macs, as far as I know. —Alorael, who hasn't had any problems with his MacBook Pro. And he hasn't had any problems with other people's Intel Macs either, mostly because he hasn't used them.
Rotghroth Rhapsody madrigan
Tyranicus had it right -- no expander! I should have thought of that. It looks like you have to take a "special offer" to get the free Stuffit now, but I found this and it worked fine. Thanks to all.

It installed just fine without any need for special offers from the VersionTracker link I posted.

I tried to download it right from the Smith Micro site, got irritated with the runaround and the ads, and went looking for an alternative. Which just goes to show, if you make your product more difficult to get, a percentage of people will use something else.
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Yeah, Stuffit gradually turned into horrible adware a year or two ago.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Feo Takahari
Hmm . . . I remember trying to download Stuffit. Took me months to get off their spam list. Such is doable, thankfully!
