Graphics Hoard Unleashed Upon Ye

Recommended Posts

There are only two graphics here which are actual originals of mine, so you don't have to give any credit to me unless I specifically say that it is an original of mine.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G510.bmp

This is a merging of the "Erika" and "Widow Queen" graphics. Both from Spidweb.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G521.bmp

Heavily edited Widow Queen from Spidweb.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G526.bmp

Recolor (or maybe it's the earlier version?) of above.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G528.bmp

Edit off that Adlerauge fellow from Canopy, by Necris Omega.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G529.bmp

Edit of the edit by Necris Omega. I sure am lazy, huh?

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G530.bmp

An original by me, but inspired by some anime picture whose location was forgotten soon after I made the graphic. I'm sure TM is crying about the kanji.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G535.bmp

This, however, should make him feel a bit better. By Intelligent Systems, somehow appropriated by CO Raptor, and then edited into BoA format by me.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G536.bmp

From a different source, but presumably gotten in the same way. From Intelligent Systems to someone named Knucho to me to you.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G560.bmp

An edit from the original "Blademaster" graphic from Spidweb.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G561.bmp

See above.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G562.bmp

See above.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G580.bmp

My lowest point in graphics history. An original, I can't blame this on someone else.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G591.bmp

A splicing of the "Vampire" and "Imp" graphics from Spidweb.

Thanks to Aran, whose webspace I took without asking. :p

The widow queen/erika splice is a good idea, but in the front-facing graphics, the erika part is a bit too far out from the rest of the spider.

The green worm spider thing is really creepy looking, but there's absolutely no contrast.

The fucshia widow queen is absolutely horrible-looking. Like, it's a bad graphic. Sorry.

I like the fencer, although watch out-- some of its legs in the attacking poses may be cut out if it exceeds the lower boundary of a tile. Also, some of the edits to this one appear a bit to "patchy".

The next one... What, exactly, is he DOING? Like, is he launching his fist?

The kanji fellow... He looks nice, but I'm not sure why the kanji are necessary. Oh well.

The first Paladin doesn't exactly differentiate between which directions its facing at any one time.

The second paladin's rear-facing ready graphics are odd-looking, but that can't really be helped.

The bladesmasters look a little, well... Their robes and shields seem to have lost all contrast and shading.

The weird assassin fellow seems interesting, but his death is horribly cheap. Sorry. :p

The "impire" is interesting and not too bad looking (although the wings seem a little high), although it too lacks detail or contrast.

...

Okay. Here's a bunch of graphics I've been keeping. (And if I don't say where they're from, just assume that they're edited from Spidweb graphics.) We'll see how this goes:

Asphalt roads . The first of those graphics is intended to be a section of sidewalk. These are original.

An archmage . A colorshift, but I'm using it anyway.

An automaton . Whether it merely whacks folks with fire or shoots out beams of fire is up to you, I suppose.

A blue bladesman . I intended for this guy to be a CO of the blue army fellows (see below).

Blue infantryman

Blue ranger

Blue swordsman

These three make up a color-coded army. The infantryman and archer are from Avernum, but the swordsman is by Zeeqon. And on the other side of the fence is the red army:

Red infantryman

Red ranger

Red swordsman

A camouflaged bladesman. If monsters didn't make "oh look, I see you now!" noises, this fellow might almost sneak up on you.

Chief Licgan from Emerald Mountain.

Diagonal stairways .

A duelist , and this one's an original (whoops).

General Luthair from Mad Ambition. He's the General graphic taken from Fire Emblem (although it was a good deal of work converting him).

Mauler the Ursag . Again, a color shift, but it makes him look dangerous. Hopefully.

A military gal in her ceremonial garb.

The same woman from above, except unarmed this time.

(Pretend I put the Nephil Nomad from Mad Ambition here. The one with the sword. Currently, Geocities absolutely will not for any reason allow me to upload this file.)

Nephil ranger from Mad Ambition. The horse comes from Avernum 3, but the nephil itself is by Frahhamn.

A noble . This is Eliwood from Fire Emblem 7.

A crazy-powerful archer . This is the Warrior (using his bow) from Fire Emblem 6-8.

A purple archmage . This is a color shift of Stareye's archmage graphic.

A regal guard . Intended for ceremonial (but still functional) purposes.

An aristocrat with a shotgun , a simple edit of a graphic by Jayne Holt.

A sink .

A Spere from Emerald Mountain.

Spiegelbrecher from Canopy.

Televisions . Sure, these are edited, but not by much.

Vile magister . This one's original.

A warg rider .

A water elemental .

Wihcaser from Emerald Mountain.

A worm . This one's taken from GF3.

A young noble . This is Roy from Fire Emblem 6.

Update: one more! Hooray for excessive amounts of blood. Its outdoor graphics might possibly be the ugliest little blobs on Earth, but it might also be called my best work.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G545.bmp

Ripped by Grim and Bonzai.

EDIT: Ah, Luthair. Now I remember what made me start converting FE graphics in the first place. If you plan on doing any more FE graphics, TM, I'd like to know so that I don't do the same ones.

If someone needs it, I'll fix it. Otherwise...

EDIT: But I had to clear up the stupidity with the red Paladin, specifically his death phase. Before, it had bits of paladin pictures which I had thought I might use. Now, however, it has the paladin in a normal resting stance for half the time and then reared up in the air for the other half of the time. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G536.bmp

Another EDIT:

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G546.bmp

Mounted common swordsman. Made by Intelligent Systems, ripped by Grim.

Yet another EDIT:

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G548.bmp

Swordswoman in blue, ripped by Grim.

Possibly the last EDIT before I go to sleep:

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G549.bmp

The kind of character I was going for when I edited 560. Ripped by Grim. He sure sounds important.

Which swordsman?

Also, two new graphics. One by Grim and one by Bonzai. Ugly death sequence on the spellcaster and the gargoyle is missing half its combat and normal graphics, but that's what happens when you try to steal non-existent graphics.
http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G558.bmp
http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G559.bmp

EDIT: Another. By Grim. Huh, who saw that coming? Anyway, I think I'm getting better. Only the outdoors graphics and the death sequence are bad.

I just keep on going, huh? Okay, I caved in and half-fixed the axeman graphic. I also ported a few more while I was at it.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G545.bmp

I know these don't work well in BoA, but oh well.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G563.bmp

Mounted swordswoman.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G564.bmp

Color inverse of the earlier spellcaster guy. It's hard to see.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G565.bmp

EDIT: New swordsman on horse. By Grim. Whoo-hoo.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G566.bmp

That brings the total of similar-looking horsemen up to three.

That means that the total of mounted units is up to six.

I haven't checked all of them, but I know that the guy with the axe shows up fine (in terms of coloring; his foot is, as TM pointed out, cut off). I figure that if one is okay, then there's no reason for any of the others to be different.

EDIT:

A sneaky guy. What I was trying to make when I made G580. By Bonzai.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G567.bmp

Some sort of ornately dressed spellcaster - perhaps something like a Cardinal, except in Ermarian. The death sequence is boxed in by BoA. By Bonzai.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G568.bmp

A short asexual cleric. I think I did very well on the outdoors graphics. By Grim.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G569.bmp

EDIT:

Mage. Bonzai. Blah.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G570.bmp

EDIT:

A super-swordsman guy. Bonzai.

http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G571.bmp

EDIT:

Spellcaster. Grim and Bonzai.

A lot of these graphics are in a strange that's really incompatible with most BoA graphics (most notably, the rips from Fire Emblem and such).

Going way back, though, I like the edited Widow Queen graphic, and I might have to use it in an upcoming project, as I'm going to need some new monsters. Also, I love that gargoyle, and I want to use it somehow.

Come to think of it, I've made and fixed some graphics, so I might have to post them soon. Specifically, I've fixed a lot of the imported Geneforge trees, and made them look a heck of a lot better (please, please, please... no more submitting graphics as jpegs! It ruins the quality and adds noise!).

Perhaps it's just a name change.

EDIT: Right, here's the editing I've done, rendered into PNG format.

These trees are originally by Joaquin Soto, according to the Louvre, but they were in a very, very messy JPEG form. They've been fixed, colored a little better (in my opinion). Also, icons 1 and 12 in the sheet were fixed up because they looked too bare.

These are the same trees, just resized and combined to make good outdoor tree clusters. I've only done it for those five or so trees, since they're the only trees I expected to use in Embers of Rebellion. I might do more, if there's call for it.

Terraces to replace cliffs, for a look that I believe Lazarus wanted in his scenario. They're a bit too tall, but that can be easily fixed. Really, it's just that cliff with bits shifted around and copied.

Ruins , including a burnt tree that's adapted from Joaquin's stuff. Basically just bits of buildings laid over rubble terrain.

A trash heap . Simple, just items and terrain tossed into a lump. Another crafted with Lazarus' scenario in mind.

My original BoA scenario was entitled "The Deomn Stone". It was big, bulky, and poorly concieved. So, I decided to get some needed practice, and made AGB. Now, I've found out all my old plans for TDS, and redrew large parts of it.

The outdoors, for instance, has been cut immensely, and the number of towns reduced too. I'm also going to make it more technical than before. Probably the biggest change is that there is now no "stone". Hence the name change. Think of "Twilight Vale" as "The Demon Stone v2".

As for the graphics: I think a lot of them are simply gorgeous. It's just that anime characters wouldn't work (I don't think) in my scenario. I'm going to try though!

For those of you who like color swatches, the Silent Assassin and I present a few of the graphics from his scenario (in progress ad infintam).

These are all customizations of original blades graphics, with exception of the archer, who was originally thrown together by NecrisOmega and then hue shifted and chair swapped by myself.

n141300885_30209839_5931.jpg

n141300885_30209840_6172.jpg

n141300885_30209841_6422.jpg

n141300885_30209842_6661.jpg

and this one is just a preview of the prototypes for a few of the characters from said scenario.

These, oddly enough, are also customizations of original blades graphics.

EDIT: Accidentally linked to the thumbnails and not the actual pictures. mad

Well, I was thinking about my idea of a Catholic priest. I google-imaged "Catholic priest" and found many pictures of white men in black dress-thingies. I was thinking about editing pictures like this one, ones which are on the public domain and so free to be edited for my own use. But then, while I was looking for a good palette for the monk, I noticed that Stareye had already made a graphic that was pretty much the same as what I would make. But he didn't look priestey enough, so I gave him a shiny necklace.

Also, here's a link to the Archbishop graphic by Jayne Holt.

Rather than start a new thread I'll post a couple new terrain graphics in here.

Note: These are in jpeg format. If you want to use these graphics just email me at JetGuitarist89@aol.com and I'll send them to you in bmp format.

Shrines/Statues - Angel is a color swap of a statue from the game, with added wings. The demonic figure is custom (with exception of legs and base.)

shrines.jpg

Armor Stand -

armorstand.jpg

Edit: Stand is custom, armor is not.

None of these are new, nor have I ever tried them in BoA, but here they are anyway.

ABLIS%20SUPERPOWER.PNG

Ablis, who is a redcoat for some reason.

captainavernum.PNG

Captain Avernum! Hopefully if you use him as a two-tiled monster it will appear as if he is flying. He is made from the King Micah and Vahnatai Lord graphics; he flies around with his jetpack, presumably dispensing justice.

hallucination.gif

The Hallucination. To wit:

Ogre (?) dying; mage on chair upside down; Nethergate woman with tiny ghouls; cryohydra

Vahnatai; dying skeleton; inverted carpet; Vahnatai Lord fire

Book icon; Nephil in rocket-chair; dying Demon Golem; inverted stag statue

Ceremonial knife; inverted stairway; Trog shaman (BoE); rat (Exile 2 originals)

Sheep, rotated in various directions, for dying animation.

Hebrew glyphs for outdoor graphics, with no particular significance.

xaolena-pc.gif

A Lena Xao PC graphic. For those of you not familiar, she's the half-space-alien child of the founding father of Aixo (which was once Aizo), rules the country with an iron and genocidal fist, and prefers women. This is a graphic for which there is a universal need.

Worth it for the adorable cape alone.

A poison trap that grows when you kill it:

poisontrap-1.gif

poisontrap-2.gif

And a fire trap that just goes off and poofs:

flametrap.gif

Originals, although not any good.

All of these were made in Paint. I've been picking up GIMP, but it's a slow road.

Making good graphics takes time. I'd advise spending the time to make one really good graphic as opposed to hundreds of lazy edits. Also, before starting, try to picture the general pose and idea of the creature (or terrain) you are bringing to life.

For monsters, more important than expert color shifts and shading, your graphic needs to convey realistic energy and movement.

example.jpg

Notice how the whole body moves when he swings?

This process can be time-consuming but the accomplishment feels so much more rewarding.

Yeah, I know I should spend more time on my graphics and I know I should draw new ones for each space rather than editing previous versions, but I just don't have the skill or the sustained interest.

Some very nice work there, especially the latest axeman graphic.

So any news on that balloon and giant, Slith? No pressure or anything, of course.
Sorry, I've been having a trouble with the giant, specifically picturing what I want him to look like. I haven't put as much time into him as I could have, but I have a summer job and I recently moved.

I wasn't the one who said I'd make the balloon, however, I will if you need me to. The balloon shouldn't be anywhere near as hard as the giant.

I'll still make the giant though.

Your effort is much appreciated. There's no need to rush; it'll be a couple of months before the scenario comes out and I can use one of the regular ogre or giant graphics as a stand-in until the final release. Don't feel any pressure to make the balloon unless you feel like it and have the time; I can probably even make it myself, although it might not be very good if I do.

The only suggestion I'd make is to fix the back attack pose. The only difference between it and the ready stance is that the samurai seems to be suddenly wearing snow boots.

Edit: I dont think you need to credit inspiration unless you feel like it. Hell, most of my graphics have some sort of picture I find to base them off of.

Thank you for pointing that out. I fixed the massive boots, but the best solution I had for actually making a difference between the poses was to extend the sword a little bit.

I do that as much for my sake as that of the original artist; if I ever want to copy them again, following a link is easier than finding their pictures all over.

Actually, the address is the same as always. My folder was just deleted, I think, at random. wink

If you really want to see them, they're still in Google's cache. Which means that you can go to Google's website, do an image search for "rakshasi", and then scroll down to the bottom. A line of text should say something like, "View search results without omissions". Click on that. Then you'll be able to see smaller pictures of all of my graphics.

If you really like any of them, you can just tell me the file name or give me a brief description. I can then e-mail them to you.

But I guess I should get around to submitting my originals to the Lourve. So the samurai and necromancer should soon be found there.

I checked my transfer backups, but it seems the files were deleted before the backup was made, since they're not in there.

Rakshasi is always welcome to re-upload them, although given the nature of this webspace, the fact remains that anyone with access can delete them.

I can PM you the access details if you don't know them anymore.

Well, I tried uploading my graphics. However, doing so through Ermarian seems to run the things through a blender, and the programs end up not opening correctly. I tried my hand at file compression, and I just sent one to Jewels. If I did it correctly, my Zip file should contain a folder with my graphics.

You just somehow managed to remove all the file extensions before uploading. I'm not sure how this was accomplished. What FTP client and Operating System are you using?

rename 's/$/.bmp/g' * has done the trick. Your graphics are now visible under the normal file names.

Thanks, Aran! I'm on Windows and using CrossFTP, a shareware FTP client. I haven't updated it in a while, though, which I expect is the problem.
