Final Fight With Redbeard

Recommended Posts

I just can't get success on this battle, even when playing on "casual." I've got all of my Pact buddies with me but RB always escapes through the portal. Never had this problem before in the 20 years I've been playing Spiderweb games. Any suggestions?

Having at least one Tinkermage in the final fight means you can create two turrets that can fight and near the room's center usually go after Redbeard. The key is to always attack Redbeard each round because you have a limited amount of time. Make sure you use items to give extra attacks to everyone.

Circle of fire scrolls near the center will hit Redbeard and most of the constructs. Two or three of them each round will keep the constructs from finishing so they can attack. Area of effect scarabs can also be used to hit two of them and Redbeard if you position yourself correctly.

Reflection on your entire party will rebound the construct's attack to kill them even if you lose a member so be sure to have a way to revive them. I recommend leaving the Tinkermage by the entrance to recharge the turrets, revive members, and remove mental effects.

Note in particular that any way you have to grant the Battle Frenzy status is going to be incredibly useful. Use any Speed Burst scrolls you have, as well as Khalida's Call of the Frenzy ability. Also, use any items you have that reduce the cooldown time on abilities, so that you can use your strongest abilities as often as possible. The fight is considerably easier if you've been hoarding items throughout the game in hopes they'll come in handy, although it should be beatable without them on lower difficulties.

and sadly that fight might be futile like it was in Avadon 1 aka Redbeard still lives in Avadon 3.

Doesn't seem particularly likely to me -- or rather, it won't matter for the opposite reason.

If you don't kill Redbeard in Avadon 2, he disappears anyway; the plan seems to be to have him out of the picture for the next game.
