Avernum2 empire identification

Recommended Posts

I know this question has been asked loads of times, but where do I get empire identification to go deep into imperial territory?

1 red pass you get at spider lands, 1 blue pass at secret empire fort (quest from Almaria) and 1 gray pass from totem halls.

Also, IIRC, there are 3 red passes, 2 blue passes, and 1 gray pass. If you're looking for any other type of Empire identification to get in anywhere, you're basically out of luck.

Since this is Avernum and they don't respawn, you can just kill the check point guards to clear the route.

Most of the Abyss, except for the area near Erika's tower, is completely inaccessible.

and even if you somehow gain access to there, the area's empty.

i once glitched past the id checking outpost out of curiosity, and entered the abyss area. it was mostly mapped out, but completely barren and flat (no terrain features, no frills, no trees, towns or anything, just huge expanses of flat cave floor).

Not surprising. If you're making an area that a player isn't supposed to reach in the first place, why bother designing it beyond the little bit that shows on the screen?

I always wanted to explore Bargha. I'll need to get the Avernum Trilogy disk at some point so I can do this, as I only have Avernum 2. In which, the best you can do is kill the last checkpoint guards and step a few paces into the city before you die a horrid death, Romans-in-Nethergate style.

:p

I never tried this in A2, but in the original Nethergate (Jeff fixed this in N:R), you could actually go through the town of Nethergate as Romans by repeatedly entering and exiting combat mode. You had to be careful though. If you moved at all while not in combat, and sometimes when you were in combat, you would die.

I do have the original Nethergate, actually, and it was my first Spiderweb game. It actually still works well enough (I first had it for Mac OS 9, it still runs on Vista), if only a bit laggy.
