Purchasing question - Are purchases tied to Operating System?

If I purchase Escape From the Pit for Macintosh, will I also for no additional cost be able to play the Windows version when it comes out and the iPad version if I ever get an iPad?

If you buy directly from Spiderweb, yes, although you may have to request a new key when switching platforms. If you buy the game elsewhere, that might not be the case.

Actually, you do not get an iPad license when you buy the Mac version, since Apple runs the iOS App Store as a completely closed ecosystem. You can use your key for the Windows version though.

(These are all nearly identical except for platform. Mac and Mac App Store are identical except that data files can't be hacked into on the Mac App Store version. The Steam versions are also identical except for the DRM, I believe; somebody correct me if that's not actually different.)

To clarify there is a slight difference in the Apple development tools used to compile the versions.

 

Mac - uses Carbon development tools to run on older Mac computers

Mac App Store - uses Cocoa development tools
