Fledgling Fyora Jeff_the_Jew
During creation, it's possible to give a Slith or Neph Str or Dex in excess of 20 (due to their respective bonus and giving 20 during creation.) Yet, when finally playing, their bonuses of 22 Str or Dex don't show the supposed bonuses. Is the stat somehow looping over and backwards or just not displaying? Ex: A slit with STR 22 only shows a damage bonus of +2 with the Stone Spear. Yet if he has STR 20 it's like +6. I think there's a quest reward later on in the game that raises stats above 20 as well? Does doing it that way fix this apparent bug? Thanks.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
The stats are capped at 20 with normal play. There are some things where if you exceed the cap the game treats it as if you have a lower value and sometimes a negative number is listed as in coins when you exceed the game cap accidently. Hatchling Cockatrice Slarti
From looking at the source code of BoE, we know that there is absolutely zero bonus to raising Str/Dex/Int over 20. The game has a table of bonuses that it looks up, and it only goes up to 20. You can raise certain of the _bonuses_ higher through items, but _not_ the stat itself. Fledgling Fyora Jeff_the_Jew
Appreciate the replies. Looking at Carrying Capacity, 20 STR w/Exceptional Strength is 430, and with 22 STR still 430. Still looked nice though the 22, but if it's not doing anything it's not doing anything (and seems to actually be hurting as with the 2 vs 6 dmg bonus.) As an aside, the debate over duel-wielding with or without Ambidextrous, or big halberd sorta weapon is kinda silly. Figuring in the STR damage bonus and 2 instead of 1 Assassinate hits, the damage with 2 weapons is obviously a lot more than 1 bigger weapon. For those who need forumlae: Pair of Wave Blades is 2x[1-10+6]plus 2xAssassinates vs Halberd 1x[1-18+6]plus 1xAssassinate or 14-32+18 (assuming the 2 Assassinate hits are the avg dmg) vs 7-24+9 Example assumes 'Stone' Weapons and 20 STR. As to whether Ambi and other Traits are worthwhile, levels come quickly and easily, no reason not to unless wishing a harder game by skipping them and/or taking Disadvantages. But honestly, the highest level areas are hard enough (golems et al.) If ya see a Shielding Crystal, buy it!
Hatchling Cockatrice Slarti
That is all correct. Advantages are almost all worthwhile in the Exile Trilogy, and dual-wielding is hugely better than poles. Also, I'm not surprised that 22 Strength gives you lower bonuses on some things, as the game might fail to locate a matrix entry and return 0 for the bonus level. No program can be fool proof, because fools are so ingenious! It is difficult to prevent all such glitches when writing a program. You know how it is supposed to work, so when testing, you cannot possibly know all what someone is going to try to do.
