Mh... well it's a little like the Zombie mission in the 2nd game yeah. Without teleporters.

Chapter 17; Control has an illustration: http://www.freewebs....9611350-control

Syros and Darian are being treated with great care. Signs of progress in character and plot development can be observed in Peacefull vale.

Tombs is being made.

Peaceful Vale is still receiving modifications, here's a excerpt:

“Can you draw out a drayk with a fishhook?"

-Book of Job, chapter 41, verse 1[1].

Peaceful vale was at a crossroads: it led to Wooded vale, to Freeplace, to the patrolled bridge by the outsiders and to Diazard.

Diazard was a heavily fortified outsider outpost which led westwards, to various forbidden crypts and to Junkyard.

South of Peaceful vale was the wooded valley which served as a defensive corridor to Pentil North.

East led to a fortified bridge which in turn led to the power plant, workshops and labs of the Shapers, which were a deterrent to all forms living things native or not, the land either spirited or poisoned.

And finally north of peaceful Vale was Freeplace which stood out murderously against the Sholai invaders.

A place of congregation for all serviles, Peaceful vale was where most creations came to benefit from two local sources of power, one free, given by a learned figure versed in teaching wisdom and contemplation, and the other was selling both brute magic and brawns.

Peaceful vale had a small farm nested neatly in sheets of thick woods filled with flowers, crowned by a crescent of rocky cliffs.

The small farm was operated by three small, serviles dressed in purple robes. One of them was very old, and it seemed like his years had taught him much.

As Andras approached, he looked up at him and smiled. His eyes were patient, clear and alert.

"Welcome, Shaper, I am glad you have found your way to my little home. I am Learned Darian. If you are one who can listen and hear, there is much I could teach you."

"What can you teach me?"

"I am honoured as a wise one by the three servile villages. All of them come to me, from time to time, for advice and to pass messages to the other sects. I know much of them. And I think, if you are wise, you will want to know of them too. And, perhaps, even ally with them." said the violet smelling servile.

"What sects are there?"

"There are the Awakened, in Vakkiri, the Obeyers, in Pentil, and the Takers, in Kazg.

All of them have come to and dealt with me, to try to coexist despite their differences. The Takers, however, have done so much less lately. They have found wisdom and power elsewhere."

"Why don't the Takers see you anymore?"

"I am wise, but I am not omnipotent. If they do not talk to me, I do not know what they think or do. Perhaps you can find out. I believe there are other powers on this island."

"Can you tell me more about the beliefs of the sects?"

"I will not do that. I only listen to their beliefs and carry their messages and, occasionally, provide a little advice. Go to them. They will be glad to tell you what they think."

"What if I want to ally myself with one of the sects? Can you put in a word on my behalf?"

"You can ask their leader. If what they have heard about your beliefs matches what they teach, they may offer you their friendship and assistance.

If, at some point, there is a group you wish to join, and they do not welcome you at first, I can put in a word on your behalf. I have some influence.

Do not be fickle, however. My influence is strong, but not unending. I will only be able to intercede on your behalf once."

"Perhaps, in time, I will find that their beliefs have wisdom?"

"A rock has weight, whether the Shapers think it should or not. I think you will find that the beliefs of my people are the same way: do you know about the story about the serviles wanting to put the sun on trail?"

The Shaper listened carefully.

"Well, there where these serviles who were so determined to put the sun on trail that they gathered round to meet the wisest of them all and said unto him: "We have a problem. Every day as we go west to work out in the fields the sun blinds us in the morning and when we come back home eastwards before dark, it blinds us again. Help us put the sun to trail." the wise man departs, saying that he will get their answer in the morning after having slept on it. The next morning the wise man is pressed again by the serviles. "Well" says the wise man "I have a solution; how about you set forth to your homes in the morning so that your backs may face the sun and go out in the fields in the afternoon so that you may not be troubled by the sun a second time?"

"Where did you get that story?" laughed the Shaper .

"Believe me or not the story was passed down from generation to generation by my ancestors since before the Shapers left the isle, which was fifteen generations ago I believe."

"Impossible!" retorted the Shaper.

"Impossible or not, you bore witness to a lesson of servile wisdom recorded on graffiti found on stone ruins near Kazg and recorded there by the Shapers[2] themselves two hundred years ago." down pinned Darian.

[1] The book of Job's description of the drayk:

“Can you draw out a drayk with a fishhook?"

Or press down his tongue with a cord?

Canst thou put a rope into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a hook?

Will he make many pleas to you? Will he speak soft words unto thee?

Will he make a covenant with thee? Wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?

Can you play with it like a pet bird? Or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?

Will traders barter for it? Will they divide it up among the merchants?

Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? Or his head with fish spears? ..."

The prologue has been changed radically: http://www.freewebs.com/geneforgeremaker/apps/blog/categories/show/1363321-prologue

Additional twists were given to Gottesch's meeting to Andras ressembling more the the G2 meeting of Barzhal and Stannis. http://www.freewebs.com/geneforgeremaker/apps/blog/categories/show/1531558-gottesch

Pentil plains has been rewritten:

Extract: ""Let me go first" said Andras. "I will plunge first. Let me ready you with speech and a spell:

You lot, bloodied, bruised and broken, are serviles, you were never meant to fight. With one swift hand any thahd can break your neck whereas the angry ornk mocks the blow of the lone servile and deals it back. An artila may spit acid into your face leaving you blind and unfit to work, whereas the agile fyora goes for your neck. The roamer fights you with fire. The vlish makes the spearman ill with surrender, the clawbug turns you white in fear. The battle alpha tosses your lot across the ground about like a pebble across water, his wasps burn any who may try to slay him in his sleep. The glaahk threatens five of your wand bearers, where a single Drayk may coerce one of your cities to surrender up your wealth and livestock."

A little taste of things to come :

"On the mainland, there is a story of a man who, because of his wife's want for a neckless which would make the wearer the fairest woman in the world, left for a far away kingdom, stole the neckless and came back. When the wife put the neckless on she immediately saw that it had no effect whatsoever on her beauty. She scolded her husband for calling her the most beautiful woman in the world when she asked how she looked like, and told him that he could go far away and die for all she cared. Something which he did, for the neckless you see, though it did not turn the wearer anymore fairer, it had the power to make men to do the will of it's wearer, future or present. Evrey day, the greiving wife with the neckless sits by the window calling out for her husband. "Come back." She cries, till the end of her days for something she will never have."

"And Faestasis was brought up upon a seat of stane: 'Sit here. Thou arte condemed as long as thee lives to have eyes plucked by the wind and feet made bare by mountain's rock, oh weih thing! Thee mocks me with thy presence for words by men turn the powers to shame. Thee call me a liar, when I say that man is a passerby from a distant land. As long as this kin lives they will be cursed with the crutches of tools; without them they will live no longer than a fly. You will sing in the feilds for fear of snakes, of the night's breeds and falling lost. Thee shall live in discomfort. If thee is wealthy then thee will make great things under the sun, but it will have bred crimes. Thee are condemned to see with my eyes and hear with my hears, so that thee shall see himself as one gazes over a pond. Clouds of doom shall follow man wherever thee goes. Whenever thee shall speak he will know no native toungue. In thy knowledge's thee be thrice ignorant. If one is known amongst his kin, some will turn against him. Thee will suffer emptiness, and inequity for the daily life is cheifest of man's crimes. The fire thee sought to tame, a brand is now placed in thy heart, so that what thee desire will never hold lest it burn. Thee will live cursing life and death. This is my prediction on to thee, man.'

'Then I repent, cursing life, cursing death and thee as well' Said Faestasis shackled upon stane, 'for men will now live in vengence of life and in error!'"

Chapter 9 is finished:

http://www.freewebs....9611350-control

Extract:

"Andras drank a blessing pod and moved quietly north, checking for roamers coming his way then south when the way was clear. Lights went on and off as he moved triggered by his presence; the whole place lit up as the guards went in and out the tunnels. Trip wires were everywhere. A breath could set them off. Andras moved between them. He nearly breathed too hard. One of the thread nearly broke. Fully concentrated, Andras's wiped his frown before a droplet could fall, breathing lightly, not thinking about the roamers always ready to pounce should they see him. Andras could manage to access the wide corridor without too much hindrance. Andras faced a door. The door was locked but Andras used a living and spells to open it. Beyond it were the bones and remains of serviles, their bones cracked, their amour shattered, their weaponry broken, their possessions laid on the ground. A display of pure power. He continued north into the main hall with artilas bags opened and four fyoras behind. Andras started to feel uncomfortable. Nervous. As if he was being watched, sensed, probed. Shuffling back and forth, nervously, trying to resist the urge to flee. Then Andras breathed. His mind clearing. Shapers are immune to such tricks. There was an intelligence nearby, twisted, strange, probing, attempting to influence him. The apprentice recognised the feeling. Creations sometimes emanate such vibrations. It is a sure sign of a dangerous rogue. The vibrations made Andras' head ache. Andras took out his discipline wand and began to tread deep into the dark main hall. The stink of death was all around him and so was the throughts of Warp of Spiral borrows. In the centre of the hall, the green well shaped creation appeared raising it's tentacle, killing a fyora from a distance. Its mind took over another Andras' fyora, enraging it. Andras fyoras bolted against Warp's charmed fyora. Andras shot two crystals at warp and raised the wand twice, four times missing it. Then something began to slash his back from behind, the fyora was covered with human blood. The fyora had killed one of it's kind, frightened one away with a savage swing of it's tale and moved against it's former master. The two artilas fell from the bag and retaliated. The foyra was struck dead in two blows. Warp fired at Andras missing him. Andras fired yet two other crystals, searing the ground with ice. He then advanced dangerously closer, tried hitting it with a crystal and fired his wand for the third time. On the third struck, the wand finally broke the skin of the vlish, blood oozing out of the skin. The artilas spat again, but Warp, stunned evaded the blows and fired at Andras's creations, seriously injuring an artila. Then Warp tried to turn and twist the mind of Andras, damaging the tissues with magical radiation. Andras fired the wand for the last time. It seared Warped which screamed. With one desperate lounge Andras jumped on Warp, pouring fire into it´s mouth. The creature tried feebley to use it´s stinger to kill Andras. Andras broke the ostentatious stinger, took a stone and began crushing the creature's skull with it. Andras rose up, his hand red with blood: Warp was no more. Andras checked for two more charges in the wand and kept it. He might have to use it against the servant mind. It was still alive and functioning, though it was clearly weak from lack of nutrients when the Shaper apprentice arrived."
