Also, what happened to 27 classes and 6 races as you originally posted? There are 10 races just among the characters generated, and you just said 36 classes. 27 makes a bit more sense given that there are 54 possible combinations of choices...

There are really only six. The characters generated for the people not playing are in an odd format, but it looks like they'd be lizardperson, human, catperson, and birdperson if they were filled out like the rest.

Dikiyoba.

Catpeople, Instruments?

If they were it might be possible to have something more annoying than a sly whistle

Aha! Suddenly everything makes more sense. Dogs have strength, bugs agility, cats intelligence, lizards will, birds charisma, and humans talent.

Making an inference based on the fact that Dantius and I share a class, then, each of the 9 possible alignments must have 3 classes, each of which is shared by 2 races/attributes. We can further infer based on the lack of overlap that these classes are normally shared among str/agi (dogs/bugs), int/will (cats/lizards), and cha/tal (birds/humans). Interesting.

I approve of chemical experimentation.

I'll name my character Shaackss. It's what I always call my Slith Mages for Avernum games.

Nalyd's character's name shall be Spaki Njordvald. Been saving that for a necromancer character, so it's just going to have to be an Old Nordic catman.

Ooh! I totally dig the mustache. smile

I think his name will be Laban Lugubre.

Slarty is correct, I meant to say 27 classes the second time. And I must say, I am honored to have my game dissected by Slarty like so many games before. wink Dikiyoba is also correct, while there are just the 6 primary races (I suppose I should say species) there are subraces. Just as humans have black people, white people, etc., catpeople have their panthers, lynxes, etc. And yes, there are racial divides based on classes. It could be due to racism (there will be plenty of racism/speciesism in the game) but since Earth in this world has a unique creation story, it probably has more to do with that. Panthers, for example, are always destruction sorcerers because Destruction has the greatest hand in their creation, so it is all they are capable of. It is the way of things. The nice thing is that even though your race and powers were predetermined by your birth (much like in real life), what you do with those powers doesn’t have to be.

Also, I forgot Celtic Minstrel, he would have been a Chameleon Elementalist. As for other classes that were not picked and remain mysterious, you'll just have to wait until you encounter them in the game. How fun it will be when you're on the receiving end of all those awesome abilities!

Viewability. The Misc forum is a subforum. And it isn't a busy one. As such a lot of people don't see it regularly. The fact that it's a subforum is irrelevant if you use the "Active Topics" feature to read posts. But if you just go to individual forums, you are very likely to not see new threads in Misc.

So it made sense for Northern Waters with its many threads and its stable group of players, but it makes less sense for an RP that will have one or two threads and appreciates fresh interest.

And in Dikyoba's stories the misc. forum is dark and damp and uncomfortable. Not someplace i would like to go

Also Mr. logical is correct

That was the old Miscellaneous Forum that existed a long time ago. This new one is nicer. It's still pretty damp, though.

Dikiyoba.

It's a Dikiyora. I don't think it has any particularly interesting features though.

A dikiyora? so it's nothing special except for greenness and resides in dikiyobia? is everything in dikiyobia green? is green dikiyoba's favorite color?

Aw, I want to be a catperson... Ah well.

I name my character 'Svvtck'. For some reason, though, he responds to 'Steve'.

Something scares me, though. We have 9 (possibly 10) characters. And yet, I'm the only fighter and meatshield in the group. I sincerely hope I'm good at dodging, because I get the feeling that I'm going to be absorbing every enemy that comes our way. Unless Nikki turns out decent at melee.

Also, no healer. Yikes!

Actually, Misc. posts don't show up on the Active Topics feature. Not sure why, but there you go.

Sun Tzu has a beard though...

Nikki has a scythe, so I'd imagine he should do well with melee, and his type of weapons gives him some distance.

Exactly what Nalyd was afraid of, Nioca. smirk Maybe the alchemist could do some healing, or just use the artist's canvas as bandages. Maybe even Nalyd could get some manner of healing. Don't know about the meatshield situation, yet, though I expect Resurrect to be helpful there.

Well, in reading the last session ET did, the player gained health by eating his own minions. And as he said, there are no HP's so actually dying from a battle would be extremely bad luck or from ticking off the DM. Just be nice and you should pull through, Nioca.

I was thinking of going for an Agent type character- someone with a decent proficiency in battle skills, so that might help a little bit.

My calender is generally open, but it would have to be late at night, and even then, I might not arrive on time. Is this okay?

Nalyd's family has a habit of not telling him anything. And they were so helpful when he asked. Expect difficulties.

Done, though we'll still have to work out what time of day.

Except for Wednesdays, I'm home by 6:00 PM Eastern, though usually twenty or more minutes before that. On Wednesdays I generally don't get home until 6:40 PM Eastern.

Because I'd just be throwing a big ol' "meh" up there on the calendar, I won't. And since I'll probably just be spectating, yeah.

First Session will probably be next week, as that seems to be better for me as well as other people. No day is good for everyone (not unexpected), but it looks like next Tuesday the 8th, Wednesday the 9th and Friday the 11th have the most people available. So far I like Wednesday the 9th, but that's not set in stone. I'll pick one by this weekend for sure, maybe by Friday or even sooner.

Yes, spectators are welcome. And yes, I will log the session. When has Emperor Tullegolar ever missed a chance to please the people?

Forgot to mention. I'll probably have to be invited into the room. I have no idea how to work AIM, and I have low hopes I'll figure it out before then.

This is ignoring our more important concern, ET. Will it be IRC or AIM? IRC would be more convenient for many people, as they do not have an AIM account.

AIM is preferred here as well.

Oh, good, it's next week, because this week was just shot in the face with a gold-plated Desert Eagle. For Nalyd, anyways.

AIM preferred here. I don't want half-a-dozen chat clients, and I'm not familiar with IRC commands.

This has already been decided, or so I thought...

Really, that's a bizarre assertion. I adore IRC more than most people here, I'm sure, but most people here do have AIM accounts, most of them do not have IRC clients, and creating an AIM account is much simpler than downloading, setting up, and using an IRC client.

Um... I wouldn't be so quick to say that. There's Mibbit, a web-based IRC client, and many IRC networks provide their own web-based client.

And it doesn't even require creating an account.
