...I cannot in good faith enable the original image.

Also, due to his actions in the past session, Kaval has earned a perk. Also because I finally figured out one for him.

Seize the Advantage

Whenever you target an enemy that doesn't see you coming, you get +4 on the attack roll.

EDIT: Changed the name to something more positive. Sorry, Kaval.

Remember, I could still give Temmyn this perk.

EDIT:

Here's your fun fact about the campaign for the day. Currently leading the pack on fumbles is Thuja with 7, despite not having been present for the entire campaign. Kaval, on the other hand, is far out in front on critical hits, with 10 to his name (the next highest is actually Thuja, with 4).

And to date, the party has come up with 26 critical successes, but a whopping 34 fumbles. Hunh. And yes, I'm keeping track now.

Session #8 is over, and it was EPIC!

I'll have the log posted soon, but for now, everyone levels up! And John levels up twice, for being extra-competent tonight.

Also, the following perks have been earned:

John: Reckless Abandon - When you have less than half your health remaining, you get +1 to all rolls.

Thuja: Happy Misanthrope - You get a +2 bonus to Intimidate against humanoids, and a -2 penalty to Diplomacy against them. Reverse that against non-humanoids.

Also, some of the after-adventure musings. Mildly edited and cleaned up, with some spoilers stricken.

Ephesos (12:46:21 AM): End session.

Duck (12:46:56 AM): (Bye, everyone!)

Nioca (12:47:01 AM): Bye!

Jewels (12:47:02 AM): bye

Sarachim (12:47:07 AM): (Bye, Duck)

Dikiyoba (12:47:09 AM): Bye

Nioca (12:47:11 AM): That was close.

Rowen (12:47:13 AM): Volcano explodes, party dies.

Nioca (12:47:17 AM): Really, really close.

(12:47:17 AM) Duck has left the room.

Ephesos (12:47:17 AM): (Bye duck!)

Ephesos (12:47:29 AM): Hm... methinks everyone gets to level up after this epicness.

Sarachim (12:47:34 AM): For sure.

Nioca (12:47:35 AM): Yay!

Dikiyoba (12:47:35 AM): Is he still at two HP?

Rowen (12:47:36 AM): Close for a number of us.

Ephesos (12:47:41 AM): So, thoughts, everyone?

Nioca (12:47:48 AM): I liked it.

Sarachim (12:47:56 AM): Yeah, me too.

Rowen (12:47:57 AM): It was fun but hard.

Jewels (12:48:05 AM): Lindy healed everyone for 5 after the fight.

Nioca (12:48:07 AM): Though I wasn't too keen on passing out again.

Sarachim (12:48:30 AM): The bog especially. The running/fighting and the big hill fight were both well done.

Jewels (12:48:30 AM): You're own fault for spending stamina like you down tictacs.

Sarachim (12:48:43 AM): Also, thank you for the gravity torch. It's even more fun than the shark. tongue

Ephesos (12:48:52 AM): I'm glad you like it. tongue

Nioca (12:48:55 AM): To be fair, two of those stamina were lost by accident.

Rowen (12:49:02 AM): I went easy on Temmyn's stamina I thought.

Ephesos (12:49:13 AM): (runs off to re-tally the fumbles and crits)

Jewels (12:49:18 AM): I loved it Eph. The preplanning was as epic as the rolls.

Ephesos (12:49:28 AM): 14 fumbles.

Sarachim (12:49:41 AM): Yeah, how the hell did that happen?

Ephesos (12:49:57 AM): But, 13 crits.

Ephesos (12:50:09 AM): This session had more dice than any other session. tongue

Jewels (12:50:13 AM): Four of which came with spiffy visions for Lindy.

Dikiyoba (12:50:57 AM): Am I ahead of Kaval again? tongue

Ephesos (12:50:59 AM): Those. Are. So. Much. Fun.

Ephesos (12:51:12 AM): Thuja, Kaval, and Etris are tied with 8 fumbles.

Sarachim (12:51:17 AM): Still, that's the number you'd expect from 280 die rolls, or 40 per player. No way we had that many. :p\

Jewels (12:51:19 AM): Indeed.

Ephesos (12:51:37 AM): Kaval still has the lead with 10 critical hits (none tonight, though), and Thuja has the next-most with 8.

Rowen (12:52:10 AM): One beheaded a goblin :-D

Sarachim (12:52:32 AM): Thuja had four tonight? That's just unfair. tongue

Ephesos (12:52:36 AM): This log is going to take a long time to prepare, is all. tongue

Dikiyoba (12:52:53 AM): I blame Rowen. tongue

Ephesos (12:53:32 AM): This time, I figured I'd try some D&D-ish skill challenges. I hope they worked.

Jewels (12:53:50 AM): They seemed to work perfectly.

Rowen (12:53:56 AM): I liked them. Nice change in pace.

Nioca (12:54:15 AM): They did.

[snip]

Rowen (12:59:12 AM): John did have some mad skills tonight.

Ephesos (12:59:14 AM): And I think he's earned a perk...

Sarachim (12:59:18 AM): He has 2 strength and no sword skill. tongue

Dikiyoba (12:59:21 AM): I still need to punch him a few times, though.

Ephesos (12:59:52 AM): Reckless Abandon - When you have less than half your health, you gain a +1 bonus to all of your rolls.

Ephesos (1:00:03 AM): Thoughts?

Dikiyoba (1:00:15 AM): Eph: Can you repost my perk real fast?

Nioca (1:00:27 AM): Sounds good.

Rowen (1:00:31 AM): He will always have that bonus on then, he runs around at 1 or 2 hp all the time.

Dikiyoba (1:00:35 AM): Heh

Ephesos (1:00:45 AM): Happy Misanthrope - Gain +2 to Intimidate vs humanoids, -2 to Diplomacy. Reverse that vs non-humanoids.

Jewels (1:01:02 AM): Maybe add When you have only one HP left, you gain +2 or +3?

Sarachim (1:01:08 AM): Conall and Temmyn still don't have perks.

Ephesos (1:01:13 AM): Pretty much, yeah. But his HP is so low, that it's hard to risk it. Thus the abandon.

Ephesos (1:01:19 AM): I know, I need ones for them.

Dikiyoba (1:01:45 AM): Yeah, he does have low health most the time, but I like it.

Rowen (1:02:06 AM): I tried to think up witty comments like Aran always does but I'm not so good at it.

Dikiyoba (1:02:09 AM): It will be our incentive to either heal him to make him look bad or to always keep his health low and maybe have him die. tongue

Rowen (1:02:24 AM): I like Johns perk.

Sarachim (1:02:32 AM): So he's a better fighter and he might die? I'm not seeing the downside. tongue

Dikiyoba (1:02:46 AM): That's why it's a perk, not a disadvantage. tongue

Sarachim (1:02:52 AM): The man tried to steal my torch. The one item in this world that I love, and he takes it from me. tongue

Jewels (1:03:13 AM): He tried stealing my book too... the little rat.

Rowen (1:03:17 AM): Then he went for the book. What was up with that?

Jewels (1:03:26 AM): idk, he wouldn't tell me.

Dikiyoba (1:03:34 AM): We'll need therapy once this is over.

Dikiyoba (1:03:53 AM): "Hi, my name is Thuja. I had John as a fellow party member..."

Jewels (1:04:07 AM): lol

Sarachim (1:04:28 AM): It's funny how roleplaying convention prevents us from just abandoning him, even though that's exactly what our characters would do. tongue

Nioca (1:04:44 AM): Would they, though?

Nioca (1:04:52 AM): Even on his worst day, he still makes good cannon fodder.

Jewels (1:04:53 AM): Lindy sure wants to...

Jewels (1:05:15 AM): Wastes the precious health points she pumps into him all the time.

Ephesos (1:05:19 AM): Nothing in the game is preventing you from abandoning him.

Sarachim (1:05:31 AM): Yeah, but it'd be mean.

Ephesos (1:05:35 AM): I just think the game would be less fun without him, given his recent tendency towards epicness.

Jewels (1:06:21 AM): He did almost chop Lindy's head off with a misguided hat though... He is epic in both success and failure.

Sarachim (1:06:30 AM): Okay, I hate to be the one to do this, but seriously: gambler's fallacy. tongue

Ephesos (1:06:37 AM): Hm... yeah, John gets to level up twice, in fact. Then everyone's level 5.

Nioca (1:06:45 AM): eek

Ephesos (1:07:08 AM): Or is that too much, you think?

Sarachim (1:07:35 AM): It depends. If our universal hatred for John amuses you, and your goal is to stoke it with jealously, then no, it's perfect. tongue

Nioca (1:07:40 AM): Maybe... Then again, I suppose he is facing things outside his competence zone.

Rowen (1:07:49 AM): For how John did tonight, I think it is okay, He did perform epicly.

Sleeping Dragon (1:07:57 AM): But really, is the group better or worse off for having him?

Nioca (1:08:17 AM): Tonight? I'd say better.

Dikiyoba (1:08:21 AM): If he has a perk, then one level is good for tonight.

Dikiyoba (1:08:37 AM): We should abandon him and make him to a side session to level up.

Dikiyoba (1:08:41 AM): It would be epic. tongue

Sarachim (1:09:02 AM): Well, because Eph by his own admission custom-builds fights to suit party strength, in the long run no character is a plus or a minus in battle. So we have to ask, is he good or bad outside of battle? tongue

Nioca (1:09:07 AM): Except he draws damage like nobody's business. He'd be dead an hour in.

Dikiyoba (1:09:35 AM): All enemies should be bluffable. tongue

Dikiyoba (1:09:42 AM): Or desperately need hats. tongue

Sarachim (1:10:04 AM): True. Just once, before we finish, I'd like to see six guys bidding for his five hats. tongue

Ephesos (1:10:06 AM): Hah.

Nioca (1:10:58 AM): Also, I am now the proud owner of 4 shortswords.

Nioca (1:11:08 AM): Maybe I need to go into the shortsword business...

Ephesos (1:11:30 AM): I thought it was 3... well, and the flying one.

Nioca (1:11:37 AM): Yeah, that makes 4.

Ephesos (1:11:38 AM): Thuja and John both took 1.

Sarachim (1:11:39 AM): Temmyn's got two wrenches, a longsword, and a hammer.

Nioca (1:12:03 AM): I'm surprised Temmyn isn't getting feedback from all the metal...

Sarachim (1:12:08 AM): And a torch, whose martial value he does not seem to appreciate. tongue

Jewels (1:12:16 AM): Lindy would take a short sword but then she'd have to drop the shield. Though she didn't use the shield at all this session, in theory, it's more useful to her than a sword is with her 1Strength.

Nioca (1:12:35 AM): Lindy has a shield?

Nioca (1:12:40 AM): Oh, right, the doorshield.

Ephesos (1:12:44 AM): Yeah.

Jewels (1:12:56 AM): The door that no one would help her blast in half. *sniff*

Nioca (1:13:06 AM): So, any ideas what the quotes will be this session?

Sarachim (1:13:19 AM): It's too epic for me to pick one now. tongue

Ephesos (1:13:57 AM): I have no idea... it will take forever to sort this out.

Jewels (1:13:57 AM): I'd prefer not to sway Eph's opinon by throwing out mine.

Dikiyoba (1:14:11 AM): The giant spider line definitely needs to appear. tongue

Nioca (1:14:18 AM): Yes, definitely.

Ephesos (1:14:39 AM): What giant spider line?

Nioca (1:14:51 AM): The giant spider?

Nioca (1:14:55 AM): You went after it?

Nioca (1:15:01 AM): Then fumbled when attacking it? tongue

Dikiyoba (1:15:04 AM): Rowen didn't pick up anything while I was away, right? No goblin fingers or whatnot?

Ephesos (1:15:13 AM): ...omg. Without editing, the newest log is 200kb. Much longer than any other one so far.

Ephesos (1:15:23 AM): Thrice as long as last session.

Rowen (1:15:24 AM): Gah, I can't seem to open up the Sanctuary

Ephesos (1:15:30 AM): Webs is down.

Ephesos (1:15:37 AM): Construction apparently cut a wire at their HQ.

Ephesos (1:15:41 AM): It is fail.

Rowen (1:15:48 AM): :-(

Ephesos (1:16:26 AM): Yup.

Dikiyoba (1:17:08 AM): Speaking of technology fails, sorry about the beginning of the session. The deity of technology apparently hated me today.

Ephesos (1:17:19 AM): Hey, no problem. It worked.

Ephesos (1:17:35 AM): We ran a little late, which is my fault for squeezing the final encounter in tonight.

Nioca (1:17:43 AM): That's alright.

Nioca (1:17:56 AM): If session 5 taught us anything, it's that startup is slow.

Ephesos (1:17:58 AM): I simply didn't want to start a session that way. tongue

Dikiyoba (1:18:13 AM): Yeah, volcanos are much more exciting. tongue

Ephesos (1:18:18 AM): This is actually way more than I thought would happen tonight.

Ephesos (1:18:28 AM): We might be nearing the end of the road. :-(

Nioca (1:18:41 AM): Alas.

Ephesos (1:18:43 AM): Hard to say, though. :-)

Dikiyoba (1:18:46 AM): Better hire a construction crew to build more road, then. tongue

Ephesos (1:18:51 AM): Heh.

Rowen (1:19:09 AM): When should I get you a character for the next rp?

Ephesos (1:19:21 AM): Oh, I haven't even really begun talking about it yet.

Ephesos (1:19:29 AM): It can wait a little while.

Ephesos (1:19:47 AM): I plan on having some kind of group brainstormy thing about that at some point.

Sarachim (1:20:09 AM): I leveled up. +2 to parry.

Nioca (1:20:37 AM): Oh, that reminds me. Adding to strength doesn't automatically get you an extra hit point, does it?

Dikiyoba (1:20:37 AM): I leveled up too.

Ephesos (1:20:54 AM): Nioca: Hunh?

Ephesos (1:21:01 AM): Oh. Um.

Ephesos (1:21:03 AM): Hm.

Ephesos (1:21:11 AM): I can't remember what we ruled with John.

Ephesos (1:21:19 AM): I think the answer was no. So, no.

Nioca (1:21:25 AM): Alright.

Nioca (1:21:45 AM): I think I'm going to think up a unique skill for my level up.

Ephesos (1:22:18 AM): Hunh. Is Thuja at full health?

Sarachim (1:22:39 AM): Diki's level up says 22/26

Nioca (1:22:45 AM): I don't think so...

Ephesos (1:22:49 AM): I had Thuja at full health.

Ephesos (1:22:52 AM): Dunno why.

Nioca (1:22:56 AM): I had her at 21/26

Rowen (1:23:21 AM): I have Temmyn at 10/4

Ephesos (1:23:35 AM): 10/5 was what I had.

Ephesos (1:23:37 AM): Weird.

Rowen (1:24:14 AM): Spent one two stamina during the portal conflict.

Sarachim (1:24:19 AM): Oops, there's a mistake in Kaval's. I wrote 15/22, but it's really 20/22.

Ephesos (1:24:22 AM): Okay, I need to go attend to laundry. I'll leave the window open, so feel free to argue for your current status. Back shortly. tongue

Rowen (1:25:29 AM): Think Lindy knows about the portals affecting her yet?

Jewels (1:25:50 AM): I'd say it's a safe bet they all figure it out at next sessions rest

Dikiyoba (1:26:48 AM): Thuja's a guy. I know all the dirt makes it hard to tell. tongue

Nioca (1:27:06 AM): Crap, I did it again.

Sarachim (1:27:08 AM): You'd think the way he kills people with an axe would be enough of a hint. tongue

Sleeping Dragon (1:30:51 AM): My female orc warrior character in World of Warcraft might have a problem with that assumption.

Jewels (1:32:08 AM): Heading to bed. Thanks for the game night everyone.

Nioca (1:32:14 AM): Bye!

Jewels (1:32:17 AM): /action does a group huggle.

Jewels (1:32:23 AM): oops wrong syntax

Jewels (1:32:31 AM): /me does a group huggle.

Jewels (1:32:35 AM): there

Sleeping Dragon (1:32:41 AM): <3

Dikiyoba (1:32:54 AM): Bye

(1:33:15 AM) Jewels has left the room.

Rowen (1:33:20 AM): I'm off also. Thanks for letting me play a bit tonight and take care.

Sarachim (1:33:27 AM): Thanks for helping out

Sarachim (1:33:29 AM): 'Night

Dikiyoba (1:33:32 AM): Yeah, thanks. Bye

(1:33:42 AM) Rowen has left the room.

Nioca (1:33:58 AM): Bye!

Ephesos (1:37:28 AM): Oookay, back.

Ephesos (1:37:58 AM): Aw, I missed the group huggle. :-(

Nioca (1:38:02 AM): Alas.

Nioca (1:38:56 AM): What are the totals?

Ephesos (1:39:06 AM): What totals?

Nioca (1:39:14 AM): Erm...

Nioca (1:39:21 AM): HP/Stamina.

Ephesos (1:39:27 AM): ...hm.

Nioca (1:39:32 AM): I thought that was what the housekeeping was about.

Dikiyoba (1:39:34 AM): That's okay, Eph. I totally dived out of the way and shoved you in to take my place. tongue

Ephesos (1:39:41 AM): Heh.

Ephesos (1:40:22 AM): So I had Kaval at 20/22, 6/10.

Ephesos (1:40:28 AM): That much seems to be correct.

Ephesos (1:40:41 AM): I had Conall at 17/28, 1/10.

Ephesos (1:40:56 AM): Etris at 7/19, 7/10.

Ephesos (1:41:14 AM): Temmyn at 10/16, 5/10.

Ephesos (1:41:27 AM): John at 6/13, 5/10.

Ephesos (1:41:41 AM): Thuja at 26/26?, 8/10.

Ephesos (1:41:50 AM): Lindy at 13/13, 5/10.

Dikiyoba (1:41:53 AM): Huh.

Ephesos (1:42:00 AM): Yeah, not sure how that one happened.

Dikiyoba (1:42:44 AM): For stamina, Rowen told me I was at 6.

Dikiyoba (1:43:01 AM): Then I lost two more in the bog, regained two from resting, and spent one in combat.

Dikiyoba (1:43:11 AM): I think.

Ephesos (1:43:33 AM): 'k, so we'll put it at 5.

Ephesos (1:43:50 AM): (I swear, this won't matter at all once you guys rest. :p)

Ephesos (1:44:09 AM): The health shouldn't be at full, but I don't know...

Dikiyoba (1:44:14 AM): Health... I was at 18/22 before leveling up.

Ephesos (1:44:18 AM): Oh

Ephesos (1:44:21 AM): Hm.

Ephesos (1:44:26 AM): Okay, 22/26. There we go.

Dikiyoba (1:44:51 AM): Yay! I win! I put my character in a worse position, but I win. tongue

Sarachim (1:45:16 AM): We're about to rest anyway. tongue

Ephesos (1:45:43 AM): Exactly. All of this will change.

Nioca (1:46:11 AM): That's nice. 'Cause I'm still half-dead, even with the healing and level-up HP.

Ephesos (1:46:36 AM): You have 7 stamina, though. I honestly don't know how you pulled it off, but yeah. tongue

Nioca (1:46:51 AM): And I thank you for that stamina.

Nioca (1:47:32 AM): (Otherwise, I'd be at 2)

Ephesos (1:48:23 AM): Thank Hoggle.

Ephesos (1:48:30 AM): He came prepared.

Sarachim (1:48:55 AM): Yeah, woo for Hoggle.

Ephesos (1:49:47 AM): Isn't it nice to have a friendly NPC? tongue

Nioca (1:50:01 AM): How does Amplification sound as a skill? Basically, it boosts spell damage more than levels in intelligence or the appropriate spell category, but doesn't effect the success/fail rate at all. And he can put stamina into it to further bolster attack power.

Sarachim (1:50:07 AM): "Hey, I need all your mages to stress themselves half to death while your fighters battle a massive zombie horde. Here is a stamina potion."

Sarachim (1:50:22 AM): Seriously, he could at least have handed out the healing potions before the battle. tongue

Ephesos (1:51:02 AM): I don't know if I like Amplification.

Ephesos (1:51:14 AM): Sounds more like a perk than a trainable skill.

Ephesos (1:51:27 AM): And while Etris would be eligible for such, I don't know about it just yet.

Ephesos (1:51:33 AM): And he was saving them. tongue

Nioca (1:52:26 AM): Ah, well. I can always put them into shortswords and force magic.

Dikiyoba (1:55:24 AM): You should try to get an endurance skill so you can eventually raise stamina. tongue

Nioca (1:55:43 AM): Tell me about it.

Nioca (1:55:52 AM): It's becoming a once-a-session thing.

Nioca (1:56:00 AM): A sport! "Etris Fainting"!

Ephesos (1:56:08 AM): I'd watch that.

Dikiyoba (1:56:16 AM): We'll start judging your collapses, then. tongue

Nioca (1:56:28 AM): "Place your bets! Will he fall forwards, or backwards?"

Dikiyoba (1:56:37 AM): I'm going to call today's an 8.5.

Nioca (1:56:44 AM): "Ooh, someone made a bet for sideways, such a longshot."

Nioca (1:56:51 AM): tongue

Sarachim (1:56:55 AM): Maybe he's wearing a Victorian corset under his armor. tongue

Nioca (1:57:13 AM): I wish he had armor.

Dikiyoba (1:57:15 AM): It'll get even better once we start smacking you around in an effort to make sure we win our bets. tongue

Nioca (1:57:38 AM): That was going to be the price of the shortsword I was selling to John. His breastplate.

Ephesos (1:57:48 AM): Heh.

Nioca (1:57:51 AM): I suppose it worked out better in hindsight that it fell through.

Sarachim (1:57:56 AM): I considered taking Temmyn's hammer and using it to re-size some of the goblin armor, but then I decided armor conflicted with Kaval's ninja tactics.

Ephesos (1:58:04 AM): "ack... breastplate... too... small...."

Dikiyoba (1:58:10 AM): *faints*

Nioca (1:58:28 AM): I'm just thankful Etris is low to the ground.

Ephesos (2:02:06 AM): ...so, wow. I'm looking back at all the stuff I prepared now.

Sarachim (2:02:23 AM): Why wow?

Ephesos (2:03:47 AM): No, it just makes about half of the other sessions look pathetic. I feel like a bit of a chump. tongue

Nioca (2:04:19 AM): Hey, new system. Now that everyone's used to the rules, we can handle more epic stuff like this.

Sarachim (2:04:20 AM): Nah, you're good at this.

Nioca (2:04:30 AM): If you'd started like that...

Nioca (2:04:44 AM): Well, it's nice to ease into it is what I'm saying.

Sarachim (2:04:46 AM): That's a good point. We'd have been completely lost.

Ephesos (2:05:20 AM): True.

Ephesos (2:05:49 AM): I mean, the thing is, the early maze had been pretty well planned-out, even though it was all randomly-generated.

Nioca (2:06:19 AM): Even the octopus?

Ephesos (2:06:41 AM): The octopus was improv-ed. tongue

Ephesos (2:06:50 AM): To the betterment of the campaign, I think.

Sarachim (2:07:07 AM): Yeah, that was fun.

Ephesos (2:08:12 AM): Yeah, I liked it.

Nioca (2:09:25 AM): I hope showing that one goblin mercy will help us in the long run.

Sarachim (2:09:38 AM): ... we cut off one of its fingers, and it escaped. tongue

Nioca (2:09:47 AM): No, the other one.

Ephesos (2:10:01 AM): Yeah, one was unconscious, but only Etris noticed.

Sarachim (2:10:23 AM): Oh, that one. Well, we killed three of its friends, and then we tortured the fourth one, and then we didn't so much show it mercy as ignore it because we were talking about something else. tongue

Ephesos (2:10:27 AM): See, that's one thing I like about this form. It lets me be sneaky about who knows what. tongue

Dikiyoba (2:10:38 AM): Yeah, that is nice.

Dikiyoba (2:10:42 AM): If occasionally confusing.

Sarachim (2:11:09 AM): Yeah, in one session I forgot I had my speakers off or something and just never noticed any of the things Eph told me privately.

Sarachim (2:11:13 AM): But otherwise, pretty cool.

Nioca (2:11:52 AM): Also, this was our first full Duck-John session.

Nioca (2:12:14 AM): Can't exactly say it gets boring when he's around. tongue

Sarachim (2:12:32 AM): You know, for two hours a session, he's not so bad. tongue

Ephesos (2:12:54 AM): I'm a huge fan of him after this session.

Ephesos (2:13:06 AM): Can't say he half-asses anything, that's for sure. tongue

Nioca (2:13:14 AM): He's like our party's Elan.

Nioca (2:13:18 AM): Only evil.

Dikiyoba (2:13:53 AM): More like neutral.

Sleeping Dragon (2:13:53 AM): Even more so if I can get Duck to continue the romance subplot I started with Lindy much earlier.

Dikiyoba (2:14:08 AM): Unless you're a communist, that is. Die, commie, die. tongue

Ephesos (2:14:26 AM): He's definitely chaotic neutral.

Ephesos (2:14:49 AM): And that romance subplot... seems like it's been thoroughly torched.

Sleeping Dragon (2:15:02 AM): Never lose faith, never.

Sleeping Dragon (2:15:13 AM): There is always hope for love.

Sarachim (2:15:50 AM): You know what else is torched? John, if he steals my torch again.

Sarachim (2:16:15 AM): Gah, I think Kaval's hatred for John is spilling over into me. tongue

Nioca (2:16:29 AM): Leveled up. +1 Force magic, +1 Shortswords. Also, I named my batsword Stygia.

Ephesos (2:16:56 AM): Heh.

Nioca (2:17:28 AM): Hey, it's getting useful now. Nailed a hit where I missed, and didn't let a good pun go to waste.

Nioca (2:17:33 AM): Well...

Nioca (2:17:36 AM): Mediocre pun.

Ephesos (2:18:01 AM): You say that like puns are tolerable. tongue

Sarachim (2:18:10 AM): Yeah, I wish we hadn't killed all the other magic weapons.

Nioca (2:18:13 AM): Well, it made fast work of the other goblin.

Sarachim (2:18:27 AM): Puns are better than quotes, and so far nobody's quoted anything.

Nioca (2:18:30 AM): That's gotta count for something.

Ephesos (2:18:36 AM): True, true.

Nioca (2:19:13 AM): But I'm half-tempted to bury the sword in an enemy, then try engaging someone else and see if the sword picks up on the cue.

Dikiyoba (2:20:13 AM): I feel like my inventory is really empty.

Ephesos (2:20:15 AM): We will see.

Dikiyoba (2:20:27 AM): But I guess it has an entire shark. That probably limits my options some. tongue

Ephesos (2:20:29 AM): Thuja seems like one to travel light, though. tongue

Sarachim (2:20:53 AM): I feel like my inventory is bloated.

Nioca (2:22:40 AM): Also, I was really looking forward to sticking sunfish in my nose. But Ephesos took away my fish... cry

Sarachim (2:22:54 AM): When did that happen?

Ephesos (2:23:02 AM): Stuffing old fish up your nose would hardly have been an improvement.

Nioca (2:23:04 AM): Right when Jareth dumped us in the bog.

Nioca (2:23:19 AM): But you admit it would have been an improvement, right?

Nioca (2:23:22 AM): tongue

Dikiyoba (2:23:52 AM): Passing out was probably more enjoyable. tongue

Ephesos (2:23:53 AM): I think it was pretty awesome that you failed the roll to not vomit with your last point of stamina, though. Should've spent stamina to crit it. tongue

Ephesos (2:24:10 AM): Etris tries to hard not to vomit that he passes out.

Dikiyoba (2:24:25 AM): Also, that fumble of mine right there was hilariously appropriate.

Ephesos (2:24:40 AM): Yep.

Nioca (2:24:52 AM): "I see a wall!"

Ephesos (2:25:01 AM): Fumbles out of combat are fun.

Ephesos (2:25:11 AM): Thankfully, nobody fumbled during the skill challenge.

Nioca (2:25:16 AM): Mind, fumbles in combat are fun too.

Sarachim (2:25:24 AM): No, they are not.

Nioca (2:25:28 AM): Especially fumbles that work.

Ephesos (2:25:36 AM): That was probably a one-shot. tongue

Dikiyoba (2:25:37 AM): I'm going to start doing what Arancaytar did and rolling a die with one side whenever the situation needs livening up. tongue

Sarachim (2:25:52 AM): Not only was it a one-shot, but John's uncanny success is infuriating. tongue

Ephesos (2:25:59 AM): I rolled a d20 to see if the hat was lost, and it came up 20. Go figure.

Ephesos (2:26:04 AM): I listened to the dice.

Nioca (2:26:08 AM): Speak for yourself, I found John utterly failing to place a hat anywhere near the enemy hilarious.

Nioca (2:26:42 AM): Also, it's like he has it in for Lindy.

Ephesos (2:26:59 AM): Now that was just awful luck on the d6.

Nioca (2:27:31 AM): Yeah, but how many of his failures wind up coming down on Lindy?

Nioca (2:27:38 AM): Far as I can remember, it's a lot.

Ephesos (2:27:42 AM): I have not looked.

Ephesos (2:28:02 AM): (I must disappear to fix laundry again.)

Nioca (2:28:15 AM): Ah. Well, I probably need to go too.

Nioca (2:28:19 AM): Bye!

Ephesos (2:28:22 AM): Bye.

Dikiyoba (2:28:27 AM): "Laundry! Stop breaking!"

Ephesos (2:28:27 AM): Thanks for coming, all.

Dikiyoba (2:28:29 AM): Bye

Nioca (2:28:32 AM): (Also, I'm posting the end part of the log, if nobody minds.)

Sarachim (2:28:45 AM): I don't mind.

Sarachim (2:28:50 AM): I should go, too. I need sleep.

Dikiyoba (2:28:55 AM): Bye to you too.

Sarachim (2:29:05 AM): 'Night

(2:29:07 AM) Sarachim has left the room.

Okay, this update is for the level I gained during the side session. I haven't decided how to spend yesterday's level yet.

Surprising everyone, Temmyn has picked up a cantrip for healing. Combined with the INT bonus, it's not bad.

(On that note, maybe I'll boost INT for Level 5, but I'm not sure.)

Quote:
Character Sheet

Name: Temmyn C. Backus

Profession: Tinker

Level: 4

Alignment: Introverted-Naive

Attributes

STR: 2

DEX: 3

INT: 5

Hitpoints: 10/16 (L2 +2, L3 +2, L4 +2)

Speed: 5

Stamina: 10/10

Skills

Perception: 2

Artifice: 4

Martial (Wrench): 3 (L2 +1)

Magic (Evocation): 3 (L3 +1)

Magic (Divination): 3 (L2 +1, L3 +1)

Magic (Healing): 1 (L4 +1)

Inventory:

- Two wrenches

- A toolbag

- A hammer

- A sword

- A mechanical mouse (yay useless)

- A hand full of shark teeth

- A healing potion

- A hat (his own, not one of John's)

- Fairly sure I have a gravity torch by virtue of picking one up and never explicitly getting rid of it. Do I?

- A metal water bottle

- Possibly sausages, a sandwich and a jar of pickles. Haven't kept track.

- I might have forgotten something.

(Also, Temmyn's metal detection is an active, directed divination, which is why he doesn't get interference from the stuff he's carrying.)

((Damn. Need to think of something foolhardy yet survivable to finally earn a perk next time.))

My level up isn't as exciting as Etris' but I figured it fit well with the experience and knowledge she was gaining about the portal.

Click to reveal..

Stamina 5/10

HP 14/14 (+1)

Strength: 1

Dexterity: 2

Intelligence: 8 (+1)

Skills:

-Magic (Healing Arts): 8

-Religion: 2

-Nature: 3

-First Aid: 3

Perk Reward: "Glimpse of Infinity" - can detect portals (should become aware at beginning of next session) and sees cool things when rolling a natural 20. This gives her a small bonus on her next roll.

Cool Thing: Has a beautiful singing voice.

Items: Light staff

Small pack

1 empty glass bottle

1 bottle of water

Some soggy food

A few bandages

Door shield

Magical book that glows when exposed to portal energy or dark energy in general. Can help when trying to manage it.

1 copper

I think that's everything at least.

I've got him at 5 Stamina.

Also, the log of session #8 is up! Click here for awesomeness! Beware, it is 56 pages long, surpassed only by the first session's total of 70 pages.

Now, the quotes. There are a lot:

Click to reveal..
  • The Wise Man: "Jareth, Jareth... funny fellow. Heartbroken, withdrawn."
  • The Hat: "Suckers."
  • John: "That guy had NO taste in hats."
  • Kaval: "Ow, my soul hurts."
  • Temmyn: "Where might our doom be located at?"
  • Jareth: "Enough! I have had enough of your sniveling and whining! I have far more important work to do. For ceaselessly bothering me, I banish you to the Bog of Eternal Stench!"
  • Lindy: "Oh," *gag* "It's not..." *gag* "...that bad."
  • Etris: "HURRY UP! WE'RE BEING FOLLOWED!"
  • DM: (brb, giant spider)
  • Thuja: "We find a portal and it probably leads straight to Hell. Figures."
  • Conall: I'll twiddle my beard and curse my lack of ranged weapon.
  • Hoggle: "Jareth thinks he can find a cure-all for the problem. And he's letting things get out of control down here. And all across the maze."

Also, the calendar for Session #9 is up! Think about it, we've done EIGHT sessions!

Last, the following characters still need to level up:

-Temmyn

-Conall

EDIT: Disregard the time.

Um... so. As the campaign hurtles towards its epic conclusion, it's becoming more important to have as many party members present at once as possible. Thus, scheduling is becoming a slight problem. (Again, next campaign will NOT have 7 people in one party)

So, as much as this puts pressure on me, the next session is (not) TOMORROW, Saturday November 14th, 5PM CST. I do not want to make Aran miss another session.

Also, since the world I'm building for the next campaign is still pretty sparse, this is what's going to happen. Next Tuesday (November 17th) at 5PM CST, there will be a chat about what people want from that world, and anyone who is interested in participating can contribute. So if you'd like to get in on the next campaign (which, again, won't start until mid-/late-December or early January), you should be there.

Lastly, players in Labyrinth should start thinking about what they would like to have happen to their characters when the campaign ends. Assuming everyone lives, of course.

Aw man, 5 pm Tuesday your time is 10 am Wednesday my time, and I have to work. Can we try to start the chat after Saturday's session?

I'll also be missing from tomorrow night's session, as I have been volunteered to work from 21:30 Saturday til 6:00 Sunday. Sorry. Feel free to let anybody play Conall.

I'll be there for the world-building chat though, if it goes ahead on Tuesday.

Sunday, November 15th?

Sorry, but now somebody has to miss. The schedules do not overlap at any one point for all 7 party members.

With regards to the final session (not this one), I would very much like it if everyone can make it, so everyone can get the proper closure for their characters. So the calendar for that one will go up very very soon... at the latest, by the end of session #9.

EDIT: Oh hey, I got sniped. That actually makes it so everyone can be there. Huzzah!

Wow, I should be sleeping. Just popping in to say two things. First, session #9 is today. Second, I have perks for the last characters without them (Conall and Temmyn):

For Conall:

Momentum - Whenever you land a successful melee attack, your defense is increased by 1 until your next turn. This bonus stacks to a maximum of 2.

For Temmyn:

Calm Under Pressure - You gain a +3 to all skill checks during combat.

WOAH. That is pretty much awesome sauce in a bottle.

Also, it's good that I peeked in here again, because I totally overlooked the fact that you actually stuck with the Sunday schedule. I'll be there. smile

I have just this minute (well, 30 minutes ago) found out that I may be late. Go ahead and start without me, because if I do have to go out I'll probably miss the first hour. Stupid sister, having a busier social calender than me. tongue

I will definitely be back for the rest of the session though, so if somebody would be good enough to summarise for me when I return, that'd be awesome.

Also, E: Great perk! smile I have a question about my Berserk! skill though - it's level 2 now so is that just an increased length?
