Hello everyone. As you all probably know, there is a site on the net with all the area maps of Avadon: The Black Fortress. It was of immeasurable usefulness. Priceless. Anyone know if such a thing exists for Avadon 2, or is in construction. If not, someone should really do it. It's better than all the walkthroughs combined. Thanks.
It's TOTALLY possible I've missed something obvious, a quest or person to talk to, but I keep getting messages that I've gained experience and visited places will now show on the map or some such message. But parts of my map are still empty of graphics. Not sure if this is a map bug or a personal problem - clarification please? See right side of map is empty but does have map pins; I've actually explored way north beyond this into Spineridge area. The main Valorim map is same, empty of graphics but has map pins. TIA!
Hello, I am from an Argentinian educative project. We have been meaning to do educational RPGs for teens, teaching them social and ethical values and skills. We are a new branch of a long-standing foundation (see about it on web1x1.org , although it is a very outdated page, and only available on Spanish) We know of other Vogel games with community-made map editors, which have not been rebuked by the creator, such as the Geneforge 5 zone editor. However, it is our feel that Geneforge has a more "gamey" approach, and more outdated graphics, and that an avadon-like game is much better for a project for social and ethical skills, because of the party-based gameplay with teammate dialog interaction, and the complex moral decisions of quests (although many of them in the original game sort-of require you to kill for naught as with the harmless Splinterbone, and you are encouraged to do it for reward - fortunately, this one is optional). Anyways, although the original game does offer a very rich landscape and so on, we would like to completely re-use the engine (including changing the graphics and scripts) for posing educational social and practical conundrums. We have considered other options like RPGmaker and FLARE but the first is very clumsy and lacks a practical ingame UI, and the second one is still in alpha development. We know the source code of the game isn't free because of valid commercial concerns (AKA other people would use this to make their competing games which is no good for the original creator), however we 1- don't require the source code, only a way to make maps 2- the same executable could be used as original Avadon, and 3- we can already replace scripts and graphics since these are fortunately not encrypted). We would even encourage students to purchase the original game. Basically, our version would be a total conversion mod to be applied over it, with completely changed characters, quests and location. Is there an editor already available or in the works? If not, you think we have any chance contacting Vogel to lend us his? Regards, NimoStar and the Un Mundo un Pueblo (One World One People) informatics team.
So, I've been running a d&d campaign for a group of friends, and I figured I'd share a game world I've been enjoying since the 90s. I do the campaign over the internet and use maptools so we are all on the same page visually and whatnot. Anyway, I've spent an enjoyable time going back through the game and playing cartographer. I've mapped huge portions of the world map, and numerous towns and dungeons and some random encounters; making minor edits so it would transfer to d&d (nephilim to gnolls, for example). I figured I'd share it. I know a lot of other people love this game too. Also figured it's hard enough to find maps for it too. if you haven't played the full game (either exile, avernum, or the new remake avernum) then I'm sure that this contains spoilers of some form. Every tile is a single 1x1 square on maptools, and that program doesn't seem very well optimized, so expect to have to up how much memory it can use and a bit of lag when it auto saves. I'm very obviously missing some of the furthest areas of the 'world' map; west of ft remote, erika's tower area, and north of erika's tower. I've never uploaded an actual file before so... I don't know how well it'll work. I did test it and it worked for me. I made it in maptools 1.3.b91 (if that matters to people). I guess there is a chance that this has been done before, i did a quick look a few months ago and didn't find anything. http://www.filedropp...mapincomplete_1 looking forward to avernum 3 remake. I love that i can get them on steam and gog now.
