Hi not had this problem before, but suddenly when I try to travel from one place to another, the only maps that appear are the first two islands (green-something and Harmony). As I am on Dhonal island (the third one in the chain) that means I can't choose a destination... which is a bit annoying! If I choose the correct 'launch pad' I can move from place to place, but that defeats the move past 'green' areas facility. Any hints? I've tried restarting.... I'm on a Mac using system OSx 10.7.5 if that helps. Thanks for any suggestions den

When you start a new session/ load a new saved game you get a useful hint. They flash by so quickly even at my reading speed I can't catch them. Most seem to be covered in the instructions, but I'm sure I've caught one that says you can ditch creations temporarily but can't catch the key presses to do so. Short of restarting loads of time to try to get the right hint (!) does anyone know the answer? I'm trying to go through some areas where all my hangers-on would be a nuisance. Sadly I'm a soft touch and have been adopted by various misfits (like the abandoned Vlish) and haven't the heart to let them be killed off. They are useful on the whole and don't cost any essence points, but sometimes just me and my Fyora would do much better (at least s/he doesn't race off and set off mines etc when I don't want to!) I suppose I could try to trap them in a room by shutting the door on them..... Cheers Den

I think I am being really thick here, but Tuldaric has offered to alter me if I go and stand on a platform in the SW of the core.... I've stood on all the platforms I can find around the outer section of the core but if I go into the centre I am killed immediately. Any hints how to find the right platform (or how to survive in the inner section if I have to go there!)? Thanks!

OK, got one scarab that cures it (can't remember where I got it either) and the shaman will cure it. So long as the shaman doesn't have that scarab I should be ok so long as I don't get too many charmed characters per fight. Thanks for all the hints!

Don't think you can use a recuperation crystal on another character, just to boost the character carrying it, and you can't control the charmed character until the charm wears off. Really need a wand to zap them (equivalent to a slap on the cheek)

Thanks ... except when the charmed character is my shaman! Think there ought to be a wand or scroll anyone can zap them with to bring them back to their senses. I like my shaman, she's pretty good for most things and beats the whining sorceress as a companion. Maybe more intelligence points?

I've looked through the postings and can't see any discussions about charm foe, or more importantly what to do about members of your party that get charmed. Having built them up and given them nice weapons it's a bit mean when one starts killing the rest of us off! Heal doesn't seem to work, and you can't hit them with a charm foe scroll to reverse the effect. Is there anything you can do except wait and avoid them? I presume if they are acting as foe then any widespread attack (e.g. acid mist) will hit them as well as the real enemy? Thanks!

Still working on the final fight, but did anyone else notice that you can charm the soul jars so they fight Redbeard? It at least keeps one busy while you work at the second in a room... haven't got Redbeard to fight them yet!

I seem to recall doing Avernum (presumably 1, don't recall a number!) but it was a long time ago. My daughter caught the bug, continurd to do many other Spiderweb games, then suggested I might like Avadon "now I've got time on my hands".... Suddenly, I don't have any free time! (not actually complaining, my husband might...)

Hi I seem to have done all the quests I can at the moment but don't want to go back to Avadon before I've finished the Kva section -- unless I can come back? Some people are marked as quest givers on the spoiler maps but don't offer any quests no matter what I say to them. OK, what am I doing wrong? (Thanks!)
