Okay, what I was asking (and evidently not being clear enough about) was can I progress through the quest until I get to the point that it is the last point where I can choose to not help my companion and then decide not to help them and still get this achievement? (I would assume yes, but I'd rather ask now than find out 30 hours later that I made a mistake) --- Also, not totally related but in my first playthrough I helped all of my companions and in my main menu statistics I did not please any of my companions, guessing they didn't make the feature that records that functional?

In other games stealing enough and getting caught will bring the wrath of the town down on your head (and can wreck your game if you needed to deal with people in that town). Avadon doesn't let you make friendly characters hostile anymore, so it's mostly a legacy label. —Alorael, who thinks all the special results of theft were more clearly spelled out in encounters that give you the choice to take things or not. He can only think of one place, in Nethergate, where you can pick up items from chests normally and suffer consequences for it, and those items are not marked Not Yours. I have no idea what Nethergate is, so I assume that's referring to a game that is not Avadon?

Jeff decided against removing weight from the engine. It's probably easier to just put in cosmetic weights than to decide that weight will never be used again. So it is a feature that wasn't really implemented, ok. BTW am I reading too much into your post or are you saying perhaps in Avadon 2 it will make a difference?

If you don't, they never rejoin your party and you'll eventually find the game immensely difficult with your party of one. Lol @ Greed > Friendship When you say you recommend going through the quest, do you mean going through UNTIL you reach the choice of Avadon/Pact/Selfishness vs. Individual Province/Companion/Individual Feelings?

I'm trying to get this achievement (unsure if this game is available outside of Steam, I get it by not making any of my allies happy) and I had a question or two: Can I start going through each mission and then stop when confronted with the real choice (generally Avalon & The Pact vs. Individual Province/Personal Feelings) in each situation and still get this? Also, did Nathalie's situation ever give such a choice (I recall what happened but not if I was ever implicitly told that it'd go against the pact)?
  8. I notice each character has a maximum weight limit, but this limit only seems to be affected by equipped items. I also notice items that cannot be equipped have weight. Is this a feature that they decided not to implement?

The NY was helpful though, I figured either there were a lot of items made in New York or it did in fact mean Not Yours. I was very careful to take almost no NY items, hoping for some kind of achievement or something Guess I know better my second time around.
  11. Are there any actual penalties to taking (stealing) items that are N(ot)Y(ours)? If someone is aware of your presence it doesn't allow you to take them, and sometimes people die or leave items that still say NY even though they obviously have no intention of retrieving or using them, but is there any actual reason NOT to take them if you can?

It doesn't need to be that way, but that's the way I think it ended up. —Alorael, who is also fairly sure that the pyramid rather than tree style of prerequisites was by design. It helps prevent new players from wrecking their characters with terrible builds easily. It's just also probably unnecessary given how easy it is to get a build do-over. I'm the kind of gamer that prefers specializing with one character rather than doing decently with a team. This is definitely my personal feelings, not necessarily what is better for the players as a whole, but I'd rather take a chance that I have a bad build then get a skill tree where it's impossible to do especially well on. That said, I do feel Avadon was quite well done, even with its flaws, just to let any potential offended people know.

I agree that the need for all requisite skills to be equal to or higher than the skill you want to increase limits customization. I don't mind some requisition, but the way this is set up pretty much makes all characters gain the same skills, at least insofar as the middle branch (trunk?) and the lower tree (roots?); which goes against the entire purpose of the skill tree, which is variety and customization. That said, I still like it, I'm just of the opinion that anything can be improved, and this is a good opportunity to take note of what can be made better. To elaborate: a large skill tree where you can only gain a small portion is better than a decently sized skill tree where you pretty much get everything you need because the larger, more in-depth tree adds replayability and customization, which are some of the more important features to games like this IMO.

  16. Just finished the game on Normal and noticed I never got these two. Big Game has a dragon so I assumed it meant actually slaying a dragon but to my knowledge there's no place you can actually completely kill a dragon. Is this referring to Redbeard? As for Well-Read, I read everything I ever came across so I have no idea what I missed. Recommendations?

I especially hated the Khemerian part, where everyone was trying to get me to feel guilty. The guy was a selfish power-hungry dictator, why is everyone sacrificing themselves for him? Then they act like it's my fault. Not to mention they wouldn't hesitate to destroy another group if they got the opportunity, so another reason I don't really feel guilty. It seems like everywhere I looked, everyone was angry at Avadon and Redbeard, but really we were the most neutral group. Each of the regions were totally gunning for each other then when I tell them to stop it, they act like I'm the bad guy... not to mention everyone is just a tool playing in the Tawon Empire's hands...

I think my complaint was mostly that it was so staggeringly unrealistic with how powerful they were, just so they'd be a gameplay element that I'd have to treat differently. I'm reasonably certain if any group in the pact had warriors half that strong they'd never need Hands to assist them. Also, I did better the next time I fought them, I had been conserving my energy because I had no idea when I'd be able to restore my fatigue next. In addition to that, one of my failings is that I nearly never use consumables, even though I stockpile tons of them.
  19. Okay, about fed up with this part... I can slay dragons, I'm at the maximum level possible with some of the most impressive gear imaginable and I'm a member of the hands of avalon, the most feared fighting force in all of Lynaeus... ... and a few of these elite warriors can pose a serious threat to me? I've nearly gotten overrun by these guys again and again and each one has as much health as Zephyrine, a 200 year old dragon? I just don't know what to say at this point, it's obvious it's meant for them to be a challenge at this point in the game but it doesn't make any sense relative to the story...
