Tenderfoot Thahd

Tenderfoot Thahd (2/17)

  1. For what it's worth, I found the quest more tedious than hard. With two tinker mages in the group (and my third being Khalida), I could literally create a bunch of turrets and let them grind down the golems while the rest of us sat back throwing arrow and razor disks, with an occasional haste or something. Once enough of the golems were gone, I side stepped the rest and went after the controllers. I'm tempted to re-do this one using Shadowwalkers so that I do have to think a little bit.
  2. Thanks. That's let me continue at least. Any explanation for why Konstina appeared to be invincible? Is it just that she's expected to escape to fight in some other location?
  3. I wish I could help, but I'm having the same problem. That whole fight with Konstina has me pissed off. We're ordered to kill her, right? Well, here's how it went down for me: First, I charged over and surrounded her in the first round. Ensnared her and stunned her by the second round. Then Odil comes over and what does he do? Knockback. Twice. So now she's unstunned and free to run and halfway inside her base. So I teleport next to her and surround her again. We reduce her to zero hit points and keep hammering away. Apparently, you can't kill her! Then, some numbnuts magic user on Odil's forces charms her. So now she can run free and I can't attack her. Two rounds of running (with me keeping pace) and she just disappears. I finish helping Odil clear out the base, but when I'm done killing the bad guys there's no Odil, no Kontina and no way to get through the gate described in the previous post. Odil is not at his fort or his hidden camp. The folks at Avadon are still telling me to go help Odil, so the job's not done as far as the game is concerned. Can anyone help?
  4. I seem to be having a problem with this quest as well. I have been wandering around for 20 minutes now, along the road, by the abandoned camp, waiting, walking, everything I can think of. No Orian anywhere. It's entirely possible that I missed him on an earlier go but I'm not getting any message about him poisoning himself either. Eye Acadia is still asking me to look. Any tips about where to look? Or should I just give up at this point?

I spent a couple of years in my early 20's where I could only see for as long as I could tolerate special hard contacts - about 4 hours per day. After that, I was legally blind. There were some games I could play, but not ones that relied heavily on small text. My eyes are much better these days (after cornea transplants), but still not good enough to get me a driver's license - and definitely not good enough to enjoy reading the small fonts. Since the story and dialogue is part of what makes the game enjoyable, I hate having to choose between suffering through it or skimming through it.

  7. I think the amnesia is particularly effective in G5. It helps to justify how you can easily awaken and train powers without having to use canisters for everything. More importantly it does provide a truly neutral starting point, as someone noted. One of the things I didn't like about G4's character origin was that it didn't make sense (to me, anyway) that a new rebel recruit would start off spouting Shaper philosophy, but that's what you had to do if you wanted a certain reputation.
  8. What's needed in user-developed content is an App Store or iTunes Store implementation for easy distribution, including commercial distribution, of the results. I don't know if anyone is familiar with the open source Battle of Wesnoth, but they've got a sizable community contributed user-developed content. I'm sure part of that is thanks to an integrated system for browsing and distributing the content. I know I would gladly pay $5 for user-developed adventures in Geneforge. Each purchase could be divided so that $1 goes to Spiderweb, $1 covers transaction-level costs and $3 goes back to the third-party developer. It's just a matter of thinking outside the box...
  9. Obviously, there's no canonical answer to this, but my theory is that you are the G4 player character. The amnesia and loss of abilities are due to Shaper experiments - they want to learn how to undo Geneforging and/or canisters. There would be a big incentive for Shapers to do this if they're looking for a peaceful solution. Their laws require killing any creations and any forged outsiders, but if they could restore a forged outsider to a "normal" state, then they'd have a bargaining chip to reconcile with that part of the rebellion. (Or, the above argument was at least Rawal's justification for getting access to powerful agents like the PC.)
  10. I never forge anything consumable. Characters in Geneforge are capable enough without needing the temporary boost provided by items. Maybe a suggestion for G5 is to have items that do things that spells can't.
