  1. Oh. Ha! I immediately turned back from that corridor when I saw how many nasties were in there that I had no chance of sneaking past. But with a speed pod I was able to run through and only take a hit from the clawbug at the end. Thanks for the hint!
  2. My once-per-Geneforge cry for help is coming a little early this time. I'm playing through Geneforge 4 as a (mostly) non-combat rebel so far and I'm loving every minute. However, I'm slightly stuck. I finished the mission to eliminate Moseh (he captured me, sapped some of my strength, but was killed when I managed to turn half his creations against him -- it was awesome ). When I returned, Pirik told me to go through the East Barrier and help out the rebels to the north. I thought maybe now that Moseh was dead, the creations on the surface would be passive or have dispersed, but no luck. All the routes through seem to be blocked by hostile creatures or turrets. I could probably pretty easily kill most the creations with some guerrilla tactics, but I was hoping to avoid that. I rescued the rebel soldiers south of there hoping they might help me out, but they headed off west instead. I don't really want to be told exactly what to do, but just to confirm that there's still a way to the Fens of Aziraph without fighting my way there. I'm especially confused since East Barrier Zone turned green, like I should have no trouble crossing, and Pirik sent me off as if I'd just be able to casually walk on through there. But it's shaping up to be a bigger hurdle than taking down Moseh was.
  3. Well, I have completed the game. There's a Shaper boat waiting at the docks in Keep West Gate that I took back to Terrestia. The ending I got had a few unexpected parts. It starts off by saying how satisfied and powerful I feel by being changed on the Ashen Isles, which sounds about right. And that if the Shapers don't understand what I've become, I'll make them. When I arrive near Poryphra and see it burning, I change course and end up contacting the loyalists. They take me to their camp and I tell them about what's been going on. They seem pretty pleased by most of the story, except my killing Khyryk (I guess I didn't mention the part where I left Lord Rahul the sole survivor in Dhonal's Keep). For, I assume, a combination of Khyryk's murder and using so many canisters, they decide to lock me up. I apparently submit, though I think it would have been more likely for my character to choose to go down in a blaze of glory than be captured. Anyway, the camp is attacked and during the assault, the Guardian from the triad that interrogated me comes into my tent and kills me rather than let the rebels get their hands on me. Most of the descriptions of what happens to each island fit. The only one that's totally off is Gull Isle. It claims that Agatha and her compatriots were later executed for their experiments, which is essentially exactly what I had done during the game. Even stranger, Khyryk is said to come out of his tower and rebuild the island. Then there's a short bit about Ghaldring that correctly says I killed Akhari Blaze. And that's about it.
  4. Hello again! It's been a little while. You guys were very helpful when I was stuck at the end of Geneforge 2, and now I'm a bit stuck at the end of Geneforge 3. I think I may have gone down a path that wasn't really intended, since I've been getting some odd responses. I played as such a nice guy in the first two games, I was trying to be a bit nasty in this one. I wanted to play an Agent who starts to lose it after too much canister use. Here's a rundown of the game so far: -Loyalist up to Gull Isle -Instead of freeing Agatha, saw her as a "threat" and eliminated her and the other prisoners -Khyryk turned hostile after this, so I dealt with him as well -Figured I might as well complete the quest to kill him at Stonespire even though I never intended to help the rebels -Once they'd given up the keys, purged the city for questioning Shaper authority (even after this, the rebels on the Isle of Spears still thought I was on their side) -Destroyed just about everything on the final island fighting my way to the Geneforge, and then destroyed it -Returned to Lord Rahul That's where it gets weird. The only way to tell Rahul about the Geneforge is first to deal with the topic of Khyryk. If Khyryk is dead, you can only either lie about what happened or tell the truth, both of which result in Rahul and everyone in the keep turning hostile. You can actually continue the conversation after this point, but since all the responses sound as if he's suddenly forgotten he ordered you killed, I thought this was a bug and exited the conversation. In any case, I've defeated everyone in the keep and everyone outside during the escape, but I can't take down Rahul. He simply regenerates. Is this to prevent you from killing an NPC that is required to complete the game? Have I broken the game by being an enemy of the rebels as well as the loyalists? Should I leave and go somewhere else? Or am I just missing something? Help! EDIT: Oh, silly me. I think the boat Rahul talks about if you mention destroying the Geneforge appears whether you choose that conversation option or not. I guess the question now is just...is there any way to finish him off before I go or should I just head back to Terrestia?
  5. Thanks for all the feedback. This forum is livelier than I expected. Originally Posted By: Triumph No. You are absolutely supposed to use combat mode for stealth. Huh. Makes me wonder why Jeff didn't add a Stealth skill. Originally Posted By: The Ninjas Doom this is your first post? welcome to the spiderweb software forums! leave your sanity at the door! Ha! The game seemed to make a big deal out of the vat, so that seemed like the logical choice, but all I could accomplish with it was to get Rhakkus covered with acid. That meant he took a few damage per turn, but instantly regenerated that HP. But I just tried it again and it worked like a charm. Seems he wasn't close enough the other times? Anyway, I appreciate the help!
  6. Hello, folks. You can probably tell this is my first post. Hopefully the first of many. So, hi! After years of playing Exile, I finally decided to look into Geneforge. At the moment, I'm close to the end of the second game, but I've hit a bit of a snag. I found the combat in the first game a bit dull, so I thought I'd try a sneaky-diplomat-mechanic on my first run through Geneforge 2. I've made it this far without any major combat and without putting any points into combat skills. However, lately I've been forced to spend a lot of time in combat-mode in order to sneak around (peeking around corners or darting past thresholds without enemies noticing), and the more I do it, the more it feels like I'm cheating. So let me get on to my first couple questions (but not the main question): Am I abusing the Geneforge engine by using the turn-based mode as a sort of makeshift stealth mode? And are you supposed to be able to finish the game without fighting (more or less)? The main reason I came here was to ask about one part in particular, and this is where the snag comes in. I've joined the Awakened and received their quest to kill the three Drayk and Drakon leaders. Akkat was a piece of cake -- just set the Gazers loose and lure them to him. But Rhakkus and Easss are proving to be a problem. I simply can't find a way to deal with Rhakkus without combat (despite the Servant Mind's hinting at the causing some kind of explosion in the machinery), and I'm not sure I can even get to Easss, assuming he's in the Geneforge. Am I approaching this all the wrong way? I've searched around a bit and skimmed a walkthrough, but I'm wary of looking too much deeper for answers, since I have a crippling fear of spoilers. I hope someone here can help me out. Thanks!
