Forgive my wasting your time. I figured it out.

So, it's been a gruelling few hours in the crypt. I've cleared out the spooks, blown up the bride, talked the advisor into retiring, killed some more spooks...and now I have absolutely no idea how to get past Travald's room. I defused a few of the mines around the throne but that doesn't seem to help. They went and cursed my drayk who makes fairly easy hamburger of me when aided by his new ghost friends (the little traitor) and I imagine there's some clever little catch to get through this business but I can't, for the life of me, figure out what it is. Any insights, brothers and sisters?

Hey mugs! I am having a bit of trouble progressing in the game and I thought it was simply my lack of skill (which is certainly neglible) until I read some posts that seemed to suggest that at my level (35) I should have ample essence with which to shape little friends. Not so. Having reached level 35, I have only 185 essence with which to cast spells and build friends and this usually only gets me a duo with low stats, flimsy lungs, and no points left over for spells. Does anyone have any idea why my essence count has not risen as my levels have?
