  1. Thanks guys, I didn't recall! Interesting. Also, thanks for the interesting and highly detailed Avadon lore!!! I'm playing through them again now and this is fascinating. Overall, I think Avadon has some of Jeff's wittiest writing and I had forgotten just how fun it is.
  2. I do NOT remember the whole missing continent in Geneforge! Where is that mentioned?
  3. Hi friends. I had a sudden hankering / attack of nostalgia, so I downloaded BoE and started playing it again. I'm on a 2009 iMac running OS 10.11.6, and I'm just playing Valley of Dying Things for the moment. I noticed that the crystal pillar light thingies and glowing portculli and gross filth outdoors all appear as black squares. I gave up when I went into the southern part of the school because all the gremlins are invisible. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks for making this available and playable.
  4. I agree--I like my dungeons sprawling and spiraling with many levels. I'm very curious to see what it will be like in the reincarnations. I remember reading that he did it "to survive high school" on his website some years ago, but maybe I misread. It certainly makes less sense that way.

This was a virtual world into which one could escape the doldrums of real life. It's quite fascinating to read this when one remembers that he created Exile in high school. He must never have imagined that it would one day be lauded thus. Eerie.
  6. I (cross-)dressed as Octomom. (Is it too late for mocking the media of last year?) Guys, lipstick is annoying!
  7. Do you have Rosetta installed? You need it to run older PPC applications in Snow Leopard.
  8. That's what I need to know as well. I'm almost completely done judging; I only have one or two left, and they're short.
  9. I'm not sure what exact resolutions are supported, but what system are you on?
  10. Oh, yes! These games really are amazing. I sometimes think of it as stories through gameplay and I love it.
  11. Well, for which game? I don't know much about the game formulae, but knowing which game will help you get an answer.
  12. Tx, I agree. I adore the old engine, in just about all aspects. I actually much prefer not having the shift-D console: it's much too tempting, and I always end up cheating just I bit more than I want to. A2 and A3 are some of my favorite games of all time. I also really like the keypad navigation, the indoor v. outdoor setup, the graphics, ... I take every chance to rave about it. Not that I hate the new engine.
  13. I certainly have, and I know many here enjoy that fascinating and possibly inadvertent effect Spiderweb games can have on you. Welcome to Spiderweb, please leave your sanity at the door.

  18. Unfortunately, you're not going to do any more than that. It's the cap, as far as I can tell.

And welcome to the forums!
  20. You're right, it's just easier to me because I have concrete, progressive ways to learn C/C++, and I study them much more consistently, hence building on my knowledge more and more. I need to spend more time scripting.

Maybe it's just because I have books and classes for programming, but little more than disturbingly long documentation for avernumscript. Remembering all those calls and their formats is so hard for me.
