  1. I have recently tested this on my 2020 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard. Yeah, doesn’t seem like keyboard input is implemented. The trackpad does work the same as tapping with my finger. I prefer to play Spiderweb games with keyboard input so it would be nice if it were implemented in the future. My iPad has become my daily computing companion more and more, I find myself making it to the iMac less and less.
  2. NG:R works fine on my 2011 mini (HD3000) running 10.12.6 but does not launch in my 2016 MBP (Iris Pro) running 10.12.6. FWIW 10.11 is listed as the last compatible OS version on the store page.
  3. Much to the chagrin of my wife I'm a frequent shopper at the low budget garbage sections of Family Video and Netflix. Anything by the Asylum is entertaining. Here's a couple more of my favorites Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies Hell Night Brain Damage Monsters (though more scifi than horror) Ginger Snaps From Beyond Splinter The Dentist (Corbin Bernsen is great in this) If you really want to torture yourself find some old VHS copies of Moontrap and Xtro. Or Street Trash. Street trash is something everyone should see once. Or never. Not quite sure on that one.
  4. He's using the humble widget to process the sales. A lot of indie devs are going this route.
  5. FYI all the games are on sale at gog for the next 16 hours if anyone needs to flush out their collection.
  6. I feel so young basking in your unadulterated oldness. Thank you sir, thank you.
  7. That's when I realized how I am the old having graduated high school in 2001 and undergrad in 2006............. Thanks kids.
  8. The Avadon 2 page says "Coming February 28, 2014."
  9. I think GoG has wrapped the Windows versions up that run fine on recent versions of OS X. If you don't mind spending a couple bucks on games you might already have. For me it was worth it, during the sale, to be able to run my favorite games on my MBP with little hassle.

  11. You might try verifying the game cache. From the Library, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache button.
  12. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I love my Spiderweb Disks. Please tell me he's still going to print physical hint books. Pls. Don't give me a heart attack now.
  13. Speaking as a long time lurker, wat if I told you all......
  14. We'll I'll be damned. I just pulled this off the shelf, disk still tucked in the back. Talk about a hundred blasts from the bast.
  15. Don't worry friend, I've lurked for years after finding Spiderweb Games on one of the first Mac Addict disks. Even now I rarely find my way here due to life, and kids, and life, and also those damn kids. But I hope Jeff knows that these have been some of the best RPG's I've played for a long long time. Long time. Ever. Long Time.
  16. I use Vipre on my Windows PCs, it's very lightweight and works well. We run Vipre at work as well (technically Faronics AVE but it's powered by Vipre). It's not free but with your paid subscription you get free malware removal on the off chance you pick up something. I doubt it's any more light weight than MSE however. I picked up a lifetime home site license during a black Friday sale a while back.
  17. After forever and a year I finally made it back home to grab this MacAddict. http://goo.gl/ycqTC
  18. @Death Knight live D&D can be a really fun time w/ a good DM that is willing to roll with whatever direction the players pull the game. If you have a shop close by they may run Wizards sanctioned starter event, Encounters, at little or no cost. Encounters is what got me suckered into D&D, so much so that I bought the local game store.....

I got back to D&D with 3rd edition and the SRD, played some, but now I don't really use it due to how clunky it is. Really, it's the most bloated mockery of a rules system I've taken time to, eh, "learn". These days, I fill my D&D needs by playing a roguelike called Incursion (based on 3rd ed. rules), and Lamentations of the Flame Princess, which is a shameless retroclone of early D&D - just streamlined considerably, and doing away with magic item arms race completely. I was only recently introduced to D&D (Though I've played CRPGs for decades now) when a small comic shop opened up in our little town. Wizards is running a quaint setup called Encounters where you go in, play an encounter for an hour or two a week. This certainly helped ease me into the sort of overwhelming world of TableTop RPGs (I have been a TT board gamer for a long time however). I'me certainly enjoying the experience, I'm sure other systems have more opportunity for roll playing perhaps but we have a good time beating down monsters and tipping over bookshelves. I've since bought several books and am piecing together a campaign of my own (I still go play encounters). I've talked to a couple 3.5 players that play encounters as well and they do tend to go on about 4e being like "WoW". Since I like CRPGs this is ok with me, in fact I think the more distinct combat rules drew me in. There's opportunity for "role playing" but the combat fits more in line with my Board Gaming brain. Sort of a gateway product.

The premium is for a developer who actually cares and makes customer service a priority. Duke Nukem Forever is overpriced. Avadon is undervalued for the amount of entertainment it provides vs. most other games in the same price range or higher. Between iOS games at a buck and Steam constantly running some game on sale at 75% off we've been conditioned to think these products aren't worth more than a couple bucks. I know I've fallen into that mentality (and why shouldn't you if Valve is going to give you games for peanuts), It's a rare game that I plunk down even close to full original price for, and 90% of the time that's Spiderweb games that get me to open my wallet.

Not sure how Jeff would feel about that but at least maybe that would quell some of the whiners? I was expecting 19.99 parity with the app store release so I was pleasantly surprised at a 9.99 price point on the iPad. I couldn't say if Jeff would be for or against a free iPad version with the PC/Mac purchase (my guess is probably pro) but there's no mechanism right now for developers to issue a free copy of an iPad app (well there is but developers are limited to 50 codes per app, and promo code purchased apps can't have reviews left for them).
  22. Code: What is the Mac App Store refund policy? If you experience a technical issue with an app, first contact the developer of the app for assistance. Their support contact information can be found on the app's page in the Mac App Store. If that does not resolve the issue, contact Mac App Store Customer Support. Could Apple be any more ambiguous? Honestly...
  23. My 2 cents. Jeff is right on the money. I bought the Mac version out the gate and certainly don't feel slighted, I've gotten 25 bucks worth of entertainment out of it at a minimum. I'm also in the camp of "I don't like to spend more than a few bucks on iOS apps". Right or wrong, the race to the bottom has ingrained that in most peoples minds as far as games go. I spent $30 dollars on LogMeIn Ignition(well work did) but it's specialized software, that increases my productivity 10X it's worth in easy access to my machines from all over campus. Jeff is right, the value of $25 is not there on the iOS version. I loved Avadon tiled out to infinity on my big fat iMac screen. Can't do that with the iPad. I also don't have the time to dedicate another play through on the iMac when I have limited time and plenty of other games to play. But being able to pick up an iPad version for 10 bucks. Sweet. Now I can run through another class at lunch, at the park, in the living room, wherever! Bottom line. They are different platforms and the game is a very good value on both respectively. In a perfect world we might see a bundle where if you bought the PC/Mac version you got the iPad version free, or if you bought the iPad version you got a discount on the PC/Mac version but the way the App Store is set up, can't happen. Either way, $35 for both is still cheaper than DNF and it's only saving grace is it's short. We should be happy to have such a quality product at a reasonable price.
