In A3 you actually have to wait. If you weren't a serial wall-basher originally, the Exile series will turn you into one. Personally, I didn't find finding the Alien Blade in Hawke's Manse to be particularly hard. However, I did know there was one somewhere in there beforehand...

Too right. I can confirm that: •It works on Exile II version 2.0.3 •That I now have a Crystal Soul captured
  3. Can you make the monsters harder, too? Like create a Vahnatai Lord so you can Capture Soul them? How about using it on townspeople without them getting angry with you?

  5. Quote: Also, what is that 2-shaped lava thing in the mountains around the Defiled Crypt?[/QB] You can only reach it if you could somehow fly for seven spaces. I think Jeff might have originally planned for there to be a secret passage between the two rows of high moutains at the end of the long, icy cavern. but decided against it or ran out of time. Either that or it was just an artistic florish. I guess we'll never know. Boy did I ever waste a lot of time trying to find a way in, though.... Quote: Originally written by Fourteenth Rate: There's only one Alien Blade, and yes, you should *cough*follow*cough*the*cough*ghost*cough*in*cough*H's*cough*M*cough*. Only one? I'm sure I heard from someone that there was a second one. Man, I wasted a lot of time on nothing (); I certainly don't need any help finding the first one. It took me practically not time at all to find it. Too easy, even. Quote: —Alorael, who could barely believe anyone would reject a Mithral Broadsword. Then he remembered that Avernum is not Exile. Yes, they are rather different in performance. That crossbow in another one that got a rather crazy transformation between games. The only advantage the mithril broadsword has in Exile is that it costs about 13000 less than the steel wave blade +3. That didn't stop me having no less than 7 SWB+3s before even setting foot in Sharimik, of course, but I do have a worrying love for the eastern trade route.
  6. So not Vahkohs then? Screw that idea. Maybe one more subtle hint is going to be necessary... And for all those curious, I'm only interested in the second Alien blade. I've got steel Wave Blade +3s coming out my ears, so I don't particularly care for more Mithril Broadswords.
  7. You need to join the scimitar to go past there. Of course, the person who lets you join is so close you could almost taste them, but unless you know the right words, you're going to have to go right back out of the Abyss, and start talking to other people. Once you find someone who'll talk to you, it's just a matter of following the dots back to Bargha.
  8. It helps if you go on something a bit more concrete than third hand knowledge, I guess. I think I know what you're hinting at. Well, I hope so. If I am, how the heck do I get into that secret passage in the south east?
  9. I've been searching high and low for these, and I just can't find their location. My original hypothesis was that they were in that "2" shaped valley of lava west of Manara, but unless there's a secret passage I missed, or the Orb can suddenly let you fly for 7 spaces, I think it's unreachable. Along the way I've heard someone casually mention Ovidpur, but unless I'm blind, the only thing unusual I've found there is a bit of platinum. In other words, I'm stumped. Could anyone give me a subtle hint as to where to look.
  10. The good thing about the specialty shop SW of Ft Draco is that you can buy as much of each item as you want. So you just have to wait until you find one of the right kind of mist globes, and then bulk buy. If only it was that easy in Exile 1 and 3. It costs 5600 gold to max stength for an entire party if everyone's strength is 1.
  11. Exile 3 certainly is. It compares quite favourably to professional games. The graphics really aren't that bad once you start playing the game.

(Although you'll probably need a way to cover him in antimagic in order to stop him healing himself.) I just did a few minutes ago. It's actually easier that way. Poison, accurate weapons, assassination skill, and wound spells worked a treat.
  13. Quote: Originally written by lordofdc: Wheres the giant slayer.A1,A2 and A3 Smite? It's in the Cavern Drake's lair (far bottom left of the map past for remote) in E1, haven't found it in E2, and E3 it's in one of the giants' caves. Should be the same deal in the Avernum games. Smite was such a disappointing weapon. So were demonslayer and scrioth. Maybe my standards for powerful weapons are too high,
  14. Twin magic wave blades+2, mythril chain mail if you can stand the low defence, boots and rings of speed, avatar, revive, and lots of energy potions. The system is very similar to Exile III, except attacks per round is even more important as you often run into large groups of enemies. The only downside is, unlike Exile III, you need to have mage spells, at the very least Quickfire and Mind Duel, to finish the game. You can leave it untill latter on and use knowledge brews of course. The 2nd chapter is actually deceptively easy. The river fort with the big battles with the razordisc throwers and lots of vahnavoi's might give some trouble, but just tackle them a few at a time. Save up and raid the specialty shop south west of fort draco near the beginning if you're not strong enough. If you can raise your strength to 20 using mist globes and get at least one magic wave blade you'll be set. If you plan on stealing Dahris-Bok's magic wave blade, make sure you take a potion of clarity with you,
  15. The pommel's in the Nepharim fort north(ish) or Cotra, and the blade is in the Slithzerakai shrine north of Almaria (for which you'll need the Onyx key from the Slith island fort between Almaria/Dranlon/Cotra). Of course, it's all for vain if you can't get to the Crypt of Drath... The Demonslayer is a fairly diappointing unless you happen to be fighting Haakai. Even in Exile I you can do more damage with an Alien Blade+Magic Broadsword.
