  1. That's only for Windows PCs. For Apple Macs: Mac HD > Users > User Name > Library > Application Support > Spiderweb Software > Avernum Or check to the game's Support Page: http://spiderwebsoftware.com/avernum/avernum/support.html#WinSaveFiles
  2. The Demo that'll be released on Steam is small, is you won't really see to much new except for using Weapon Shaping.
  3. The demons now offer deals in return for your soul?
  4. I think Jeff said February for release, but that's subject to getting it done for approval versions to third party distributors. Steam and other stores want a release version to check about a month before they sell it. Right now the game has been tested, but needs some of the cosmetic things like final art and those little things to make it polished. Plus testing the Windows version hasn't started. Testing has gone at a faster rate than recent games.
  5. Adrenaline Rush is unlocked when you have 15 combat disciplines like melee and missile weapons levels.
  6. The ramp you last used to get to the lower level will still have an open gate. All the other ones are closed.
  7. The later Exile games had a spell that let you see the stats of a target. I don't think it was available in the the first game. But most information remained the same between the different games.
  8. I think you are screwed because when you come back later the eggs are ruined for being too long without the lizards tending them.
  9. Even with maximum resistance, you can get mental effects. It's better to have someone that can counter the effect.
  10. From Information Guide: You can scroll down to descriptions on skills: Field Medic - Gives heals, curing, and blessing a 25% chance per point not costing action points Each point or skill level increases the chance by 25% of not costing action points when used.. So at level 2 it is now 50% chance. For something like poison rain it increases damage or duration.
  11. Items let you stack past skill point limits. Some can be very helpful.
  12. It means the party has 9 in Tool Use skill to unlock access to where the sword was stored. Some items are in rooms or chests with locks or traps that require tool use, dispel barrier, or move mountains spell to reach them. These notes are warnings on what you need if you want them. If you plays a an Amana with no magic spells, then you will never get items behind dispel barrier at level 3. Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Please leave your sanity at the door. None of us that explain things have it.
  13. Some skills like,e Tool Use and Melee Weapons both have trainers. However with Melee Weapons, you can train early in the game. However if you used a trainer before reaching 10 in the skill, then you are capped at 10. If you wait and only use skill points to reach 10, then you can still use the trainer to increase it to 12. Only really made a difference for those min/mas players who want to get everything especially for the hardest difficulties.
  14. On harder difficulties, just keep increasing your main shaping skill to make your creations even more powerful. Really helps in the end where you start missing.
  15. There may be enough living tools in the game that you don't need to buy more. It depends upon your mechanics skill level and whether you open highly locked doors that are meant as quest rewards or getting a key for the zone.
  16. It depends upon difficulty level and build. It's borderline for normal difficulty and add two levels for higher difficulties is a good rule for most areas. If you are careful, there are places where you can move your party to avoid the hostile creations. The scorpions can be avoided by going south through the locked room and coming out the other side when they are patrolling to the right on the screen. You will still have a hard fight at the end. Having high leadership can help there. I mean this is an area that a pacifist can get through. (If you ae lucky)
  17. Once you meet the requirement to turn a zone green, which usually means crossing it, you can skip the zone. So you don't have to clear mines a second time. Also there are only a few place where you have that problem.
  18. The remakes have additional material, a few more zones to visit. Story wise, you don't miss anything.
  19. There is a back door that opens with a hidden switch. Need Tool Use 8 to work the switch. Good luck. Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Please leave your sanity at the door. It's totally useless.
  20. Joining a faction and staying will change the ending. There was some discussion on which is the best ending. Some factions won't trade with you if you are currently in another faction. Some factions require you to kill off another faction's leader and that will make areas hostile. Enough leadership will avoid the quest needed to kill them.
  21. The earliest part of all the games is supposed to be easy on all difficulties. It depends how you play on how easy some places are. It is possible to make it harder with stupid decisions.
  22. Original series early games penalized you in that you couldn't train (buy) skills and spells if you used a canister first. But in the remakes , the order no longer matters.
  23. I think it was a combination of essence costing and allowing each one to deal with a different area in combat where the targets are spread out. Some places you can't use terrain to your advantage like Trajkov and Goettsch. Same with a few Sholai fights. Too early in beta testing to see how it differs for higher level creations. Just Jeff made enough changes that I can't speculate.
  24. I looked back at my old save in the Inner Crypt and my party was three searing artilas, a glaahk, and a cockatrice. So I must have used them in the worst fights. You may have to replace them often, but they are effective spamming acid. Not so sure about them in the new remake because of more acid resistant creations near the last half.
  25. It increases with level into double digits. Not as good as other attacks except it always works so o to hit and no need for an active creation. Fyotas are cheaper and can do more damage , but die off too easily later in the game.
