    Travel

When we did this comparison at CalRef I didn't stack up great domestically and was slightly ahead of the curve in terms of international travel, particularly if you discount the Europeans who have a great advantage. I like the additional question of where I'd like to visit, but I'm afraid my list is far too long. For the most part, I like rural or downright primeval destinations, but there are a few exceptions. I intend to check New York City off my list in a couple of weeks.
  2. Buncha pranksters in this thread. Really, though, a forum is participatory. Rather than trying to find something already done, why not spark a conversation and follow the response? I bet there's something that interests you that many here would be happy to discuss.

    It Begins. . .

I understand that and would suffer silently if I hadn't been supplanted by Trenton.

    It Begins. . .

Aww... I didn't qualify for this one.
  5. I take it that those who saw the joke didn't have a custom theme set? After all the arguments we used to have over the best skin? And still have about chat? (*cough*Carbon*cough)
  6. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, I give myself better than usual odds of escaping the initial onslaught and finding somewhere safe, and higher than usual odds of starving, freezing to death, or being killed by territorial preppers.
  7. Having never done a proper RP before, I was kinda hoping an established member would set the tone so I could join in. It's not the first time that poll results have differed from actual participation. The second time no one showed up for an RPG I gave up on running them. Sorry it turned out this way, GG.

  9. So far, I vastly prefer the first trilogy remakes to the second trilogy, and my favorite game is also G2, so... you're not all that alone.
  10. So I know that Tyran has an adorable orange feline. What fuzzy (or scaly, or slimey) creatures do the rest of you have at home for us to d'aww over? Here is Katherine:
  11. I think you should pull some of the more popular categories from that list we put together a few weeks back, beginning with Harry Potter house. I would link it here, but I recall at least one of the entries was NSFW.
  12. I don't mind the new chitrach graphics. At least they don't look like clawbugs, causing me to treat them as such tactically and get myself killed.
  13. In all seriousness, I have a lot of questions about the Geneforge remakes that probably can't be answered at this state. The biggest of them is whether the new G1 will be limited to the same creations and spells as the original. You'd want to keep that sense of escalation throughout the series, but it'd be strange to go back to Drayks at endgame.
  14. Am I the only one squinting to read quotes in really tiny type?
  15. I got all the way to the top, spoke to him, and found I couldn't take him, so I loaded my last save and left. Now, when I try to get back for a rematch, the gate on the roof is closed and won't open. Any idea what I'm missing?
  16. Ex: I agree with many of your points, but wouldn't go quite so far on firearms and hope you'd pay teachers better if you required extra schooling. GG: I would counter that very little discussed in General is really "useful", since we lack the numbers or the clout to actually sway society on our own. It's a thought exercise and nothing more. Also, we had a pretty decent community of NationStates at one point. I hope I'm not the only one that fell of the wagon. Addy: I think you overestimate the impact of our nuclear stockpile. There would probably be life left somewhere, just not humans. Slarty: Just remember: a rock can feel no pain, and an island never cries. Hogan: Don't forget to blame the FDA as well as the USDA. Food made from fresh produce in a home kitchen? You can't sell that. Pink slime? Go for it.
  17. We've argued politics plenty of times, but I don't know that we've brought it all together. If you had a chance to build a nation from scratch, how would you structure it? Would you subscribe to the modern nation state concept? Opt for a benevolent (or not so benevolent) dictatorship? A computer age meritocracy? A socialist republic? What about the economy? Is healthcare public or private? What about the military? Education? The media? If you rely on taxation, what form does it take? Feel free to be a specific or broad as you like. I'll pipe in myself if I'm not totally intimidated by the first few responses.
  18. I agree that's the intent. Pretty sure rapists and child abductors can get to you in real life, too, but perhaps the anonymity and broad access of the Internet causes kids to let their guard down by the time they meet them. As a decently paranoid adult, however, I tend to think one of y'all is no more likely to kill me if we meet at a restaurant than are the other patrons.
  19. I was judging a speech meet at my local high school and yesterday and saw this: I thought it was cogent, even if I clearly haven't taken its advice.
  20. Me, too. I've been sold on Steam since it saved my game of A:EftP when my computer crashed. In the future, though, I'll certainly use the widget method.
