  1. I gave up on A4 when I reached the first wide open area and just couldn't continue. Between the odd placement of indoors vs outdoors and the enemies attacking from just out of range I just couldn't take it anymore. Fast forward about a year and I went back to it and this time it was much easier to continue and I completed it. It needs time to grow on you.
  2. It does appear that DNA shaping lead to much increased intelligence which was able to break from the shaper mental control. This fear of a disgruntled apprentice being able to summon a drakon would explain much of the panic behind the barring of sucia island. The whole shaper society is based on the mental control of all shaped creations and the discovery that they can share crayons that were beyond control would have been devastating. This can be compared to toasters and tractors going rogue and demanding rights or they start killing people. Society could collapse from the shock regardless of how credible the threat is.
  3. I'm currently working my way through the various endings and i noticed that in the unaligned and servant endings this line shows up in the middle "it still feels like the story is incomplete" What have i missed? i wiped out everybody, destroyed all research and got rid of the barrier of the winds and i still got it. there are still some people that aren't hostile like in Triola but I would assume that they don't count. Also interesting is that Geth isn't hostile after wiping out the rest of the Barzites
  4. well, i got it. if you walk into the room and when combat begins leave, the drakon master is very willing for follow you away from his body guards and chase you around the level. once he's out of the way, the dual eyebeasts aren't so tough and they went down easy. also adding the omnicharm and victors boon raised my armor to 146 and stun to 110% so that helped also
  5. i have been playing the uber-parry guardian and have completed most of the game without too much trouble. up until inner ghazak-uss that is. I have reached the drakon master and he is protected by two eyebeasts that i cant take down. up until now i was able to isolate the eyebeast and pin them against a wall to force them into melee fighting and prevent them from using their AP stealing attack. but here there are two of them on opposite sides of the room and the drakon master and the two ur-drakons have high enough attack % to seriously hammer me. I able able to kill one eyebeast fast but the second one pins me long enough to be finished off. Is there any solution to this? my armor 118 and stun resistance is 105%
  6. well the inspiration for Avadon was a three hour long opera that his wife dragged him too, so maybe if she takes him to another one.....
  7. I could be wrong. I haven't played it in a few years do I don't really remember the ending texts so well. I do remember wiping out the council or the rebel leadership to end the game and there are endings with complete domination. (I think)
  8. Actually what seems to be the biggest mistake was barring sucia island instead of nuking it back to the stone age. Had the shapers cleaned up the island with a flamethrower mopping up all mention of the Geneforge then the whole story would never have started. It was their secretive escape which lead to the centuries of buildup on the island which just needed any shaper to show up to unlock everything.
  9. Also g5 kinda ends in absolute victory for every faction. There really is no ending that can lead to an uneasy truce as the enemy faction gets completely wiped out in a fairly scorched earth manner.
  10. The least complicated thing is to uninstall the game and reinstall. The saved games folder is separate and won't get ruined.
  11. Also, you can now unlock your kid from the basement
  12. Run Just avoid fighting them. The enemies outside are there to slow you down so that the quickfire can kill you. Once you leave the dungeon it will reset to the post-explosion zone and you can reenter and loot. Also, avoid letting them get into melee range as they will prevent you from moving more than one space at a time.
  13. It probably has more to do with the age of boards and everyone getting used to posting on the old sites which didn't have all those smiley options. Though I do remember some awful experiments with colorful, flashing and moving text. For a while I had a gimmick of using subscript and superscript in every post but at some point that also drifted away leaving just plain text.
  14. That's a big difference between the two of you
  15. EA! Imagine Avernum with microtransactions! To use fireball, wait 3:28 minutes or spend 5 averbucks! You have been killed. You can reload in 5:00 minutes or pay 20 averbucks to start now! To enter the Tower you need to have Crown Clearance or pay 200 averbucks to enter right now!
  16. The guardian with max parry. I'm not sure what I'm going to do after I max out parry, but I still have a few levels to go before I get there. I'll probably then raise intelligence so I can use defensive spells, but I'm not committed to anything yet.
  17. Is money critical in this game? I know in Geneforge 1 there comes a point when looting is pointless as you can drain all the merchants and accumulate a ridiculous amount of unspendable cash after buying every skill offered. I am in the first servile city, Medad and nonmember pricing for training is listed as exorbitant. Should I try for cheaper trainers (either other cities or through membership), or does it not matter as I'll eventually run out of things to buy anyways?
  18. Try uninstalling and reinstalling. That's usually the first thing to try. Your saved games folder is somewhere else so it won't get lost but a reinstall should fix whatever broke in the upgrade.

  20. Speaking of Australia.....
  21. Well, it's done. I just finished playing Geneforge 1 on normal as a lone agent following the agent power walkthrough and found it a walk in the park. Once you get past the beginning and start pounding the canisters you are able to pretty much one-shot everything for a while. There was difficulty in the middle when enemies scaled up enough to require two shots and required careful attacks to avoid getting one-shoted in return. The lone agent isn't quite a glass cannon but mobs will destroy her. By the end game though I was steamrolling everything. Only problem I had was that while trying to get all the endings I discovered that using the geneforge crashed the game when i reached the boat. I would get the first screen of the winning text and then it would crash. This was regardless of whether I destroyed it after using or not. Has anybody ever encountered this before? I'm playing the humble bundle version on win 10.
