  1. I found it worked quite well with just having one character move forward and stay at the very edges of the cave, use his bow to shoot one of the hostile critters, and then run back to my party to slaughter the previously mentioned hostile critters. After the hostile critters were dead, looting was proceeded to be done by buffing up one character as much as possible, loading him with fire resist gear, and navigating along the edges of the caves. Shouldn't be getting hit by more than two of the calderas venting at once that way.

  3. Technically speaking by the time you'd normally go past the guy you'd only be handling creations which wouldn't be too abnormal for an outsider to handle. That Geneforge isn't advanced enough to keep track of these things when you backtrack is obviously a bit weird, but you can basically assume each chapter to have it's own separate chronology, and that they're largely created along the principle that anything you do after the chapter you're currently in will generally not affect or be known by anyone in previous chapters.

Your computer doesn't do instant translation unless you're going through a special translation tool. That would be interesting in it's way. I'd be quite impressed by a piece of software that not only manages to properly translate everything, but includes any and all typos too in a manner appropriate to the language, and also translates any of the so called leet speak to one appropriate to the language.
  5. Yes, they are, they're basically female Drayks with an affinity of trees. They're rather sodden and miserable creations though, they keep getting depressed over accidentally burning the trees they try caring for.
  6. What's next, your guesstimating putting us at a perpetual tomorrow for the release date?

Alternatively it is also possible to play with the mirrors on that floor to get past the lasers, but I'd recommend doing it the normal way since it's less annoying than having to push mirrors through an area with constantly respawning golems.
  8. It's very possible to be using a 3D engine and still offer a single isometric perspective. And I suspect it's going to start with that, basic engine along the lines of the one Geneforge uses, except with graphical effects and models making use of fancy 3D tricks.

His report seemed to be that the latter is much, much harder to play. —Alorael, who still can't manage a singleton on normal difficulty even with reasonable traits. I can recall reading that yes. Hapless started out as pitifully weak as you'd imagine but quickly got very powerful indeed since he was gaining experience at extremely high rates, while Avatar started off quite strong but lost out in the on getting stronger since he gained far less skill points than Hapless ever did over the same amount of gameplay. And if you're trying to be a party all by yourself, you want skill points.
  10. It could be that if you never spoke to Empress Prazac (Or at least, didn't accept her mission) you also wouldn't get rescued? I'm unsure how you'd get into Footracer Province if you'd never done so though...
  11. Attacking definitely only cost 5 action points in Geneforge 4's Windows version as well. It just cost all your remaining action points as well if you didn't have enough action points to make a second attack, which is why you should always use your items first and your normal attacks second.
  12. Magery is (I think) for all spells. As I recall the Drake's boon is giving the Blademaster ability to all your characters, Blademaster is basically Magery for melee.
  13. One piece is in Benerii-Uss Shaping, the second in Benerii-Uss Holding and the final in the Geneforge area. I'd recommend checking Schrodinger\'s FAQ if you need more detailed descriptions for finding the pieces.
  14. You can go for full keyboard control with Avernum as well. Numpad for movement with the alphabetical keys for various quick talk, get, etc. buttons. Geneforge, on the other hand, does need a mouse to play. More on the subject, I should still have the original Exile on a floppy disk somewhere, now if only my computer still had a floppy disk drive...
  15. Crescent Stones drop from Crescent Thahds in the more desolate areas of western Sucia Island. You might've missed them dropping these as the Crescent Stones look just like any other stone does.
