Well-Actually War Trall Ishad Nha
Microsoft is getting rid of the WinHelp format slowly but surely... They want people to switch from WinHelp (.hlp) to Compiled HTML (.chm) format. But they won't supply a simple conversion program to turn an hlp into a chm. So for the time being, anyone with a Windows 10 platform won't be able to use the supplied WinHelp, .hlp, help files. If you could decompile the hlp project you could then convert it to a chm project. But they don't supply a program for that either. With an offline help file you can add your own corrections, clarifications and updates.
Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
I'm not really sure why you're posting this here. Blades of Exile's documentation has been HTML (not compiled) for quite awhile now. (I suppose it might actually be a good idea to compile it into a .chm for Windows users, but I haven't done that.) Understated Ur-Drakon The Almighty Doer of Stuff
I loved the old .hlp files, with the little purple books. I liked those just as much as the games they came with. I used to actually use video game manuals as my bedtime reading. Ah, simpler times... Well-Actually War Trall Ishad Nha
Compilation is easy with the HTML Workshop... I am working on a docx version that you can alter any time.
Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
Uhhh, why would we want a docx version? We're already using HTML for the documentation, so I don't think docx is all that useful. (You can see the latest version of the docs here. You can also view them on Sylae's site, but those may not be fully up-to-date.)
Well-Actually War Trall Ishad Nha
You can do your own editing of the files to correct mistakes and unclear parts...
Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
You can do that with HTML too.
Well-Actually War Trall Ishad Nha
Handy if you can download the entire online help site as one Chm file. This can be done with HTML Help Workshop...
Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
Well, I won't object if you want to compile the HTML files into a chm. I might do it myself someday, but I don't consider it high priority.
