Chittering Clawbug Capt. Jim
I've completed everything but the original quest. How do I get the gate to open next to the room with the three boxes? If it opened when I placed the required items in the boxes I didn't go in at that time.???
Garrulous Glaahk Sade
You need a Gray Empire Pass to open the south-eastern gate. One can be found in Totem Tunnels, west of the Tower of Magi.

Curious Artila Bekah
1. I put the items in the boxes but was unable to finish the quest. Now I'm ready again but it just says the box is empty again - how do I put the things in there again. 2. I get through the maze but when I get to the gate it says I don't have the key. I have the steel key from the room with the crystals but it won't work? Is that because of my question #1? Thanks, Bekah/Becky
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
1. As long as you aren't using a save game from before putting the items in the 3 boxes, you don't need to place items in those boxes again. Each box gave a password to a box in the northwest rooms. 2. There are two keys needed for those gates. The steel key and an amber key from the garbage room off the prison cells. The entrance to that area is a portal from the other gate near the one to the crystal room. Good luck
Curious Artila Bekah
Thank you! I thought I'd looked but ... anyway, got the key, opened the gates, up the stairs, etc. Playing on hard level and I think I like this game almost as well as the classic Avernum 2 in the first trilogy - and that was the best ever!
